gb, buzzing at his peak. His focus in his last year on earth was pure: surf, spend quality time with friends and family, create art, and love. He was unaccepting of anything that was trivial. This video is also a tribute to original Paipo man RIP Ray Hookano, kind and inspiring Hawaiian paipo man. Aloha nui loa Ray.
There's alot of wisdom to be gleaned from what these two guys had in common.
This footage is from his time working on the Hydrodynamica project as still photographer with Cher Pendarvis (producer) Richard Kenvin (Director) and Ryan Field (DP) . Here he is coming home to his roots in Oahu and relivingchildhood memories at the "Wall."
He would often have a tune in his head that he'd sing out loud in different funny voices. One of his last was a favorite song of mine by Frank Black that went " I've had it with this town

Love the tribute! I myself am a paipo enthusiast. have been riding since before my teen years! before that I was a boogie boarder! i picked up my mothers old paipo used it onced and never turned back after that! I have a "paipo hawaii" board now but, soon will be making me another one! wish the sport would come back alive strong! currently i am the only one in my big family that intesivley uses it!
