Anxiety has so many bad symptoms. There are some symptoms you feel that you won’t be able to explain. It’s top 3 worst conditions any human can ever feel cos it’s everyday till I don’t know. People would never understand or know how strong we actually are dealing with this thing. I want to say some encouraging stuff rn to anyone going through this but I don’t know what to say cos I’m extremely going through it at the moment. Hope it gets better for all us. i’ve never realized how you can literally feel depression, growing up i always thought it was just feeling sad and wanting to be in bed all day. this is why i’ve never thought i suffered from depression up until i’ve started going through the most sad and stressful points in my life (parents divorce, graduation, health issues, etc.) i’ve gone to the doctor and had a total of 3 blood tests done and everything has came back fine, my doctor told me it’s probably my anxiety and recommends me to see a therapist which i am still contemplating.

I went to the ER last week because I thought I was having a stroke or a heart attack, was feeling weird sensations on the left side of my body (never happened before) They did an MRI of my brain and did blood tests and everything was good. Today i started noticing aches on my left hand in my index and middle finger and now Im feeling slight muscle aches in my arms and wrists. I called my dr today and explained what happened and that I was concerned about a heart problem, he said there wasnt any real concern to come get checked out immediately. Im an active person and exercise regularly and track my diet, I have been undergoing a lot of stress in my personal life with work and getting other things done. Ive had anxiety before but never to the point where its making my body feel this way. The night before I went to the ER I put my head down to try and sleep and my heart was racing and actually got back up feeling afraid to go to sleep (also never happened before). I was on depression medication at one point but got off of them the beginning of the year and have been fine, havent had any episodes but still have bad days from time to time. Just a little worried and freaked out because this is all new to me and definitely not normal for me

My female friend who kept saying I'm going to hurt her behind me, and she always tell me she feels happy and light when I'm around, but once I'm not around, she started thinking and acting negative about me ( since I have to work and keep my own life going . ) it's really hard to be with her all the time and make her happy when I feel like I will get talked back and draining my own positive energy. Now, she seems getting worse, which make me feel bad and thinking it might be my fault. I have been watching your RUclips video, just trying to understand her better.

For me yoga, Pilates and THC gummies have helped but these are bandaids just like a prescription is. I love being outside in nature, going on hikes with my dog and husband. Winter is just awful for me.... We are now in our 50's and truly hope to be a snowbird for a month or more in the coming winters. After nearly 4 decades of having a panic disorder I've learned that deep breathing has been most effective at calming me down from an attack. Breathe into your belly, not your chest, breathing into you chest makes anxieties worse. While deep breathing close your eyes and think about things that make you happy. Listening to music also helps me. It took me a long time to "retrain" my mind/body for this to work, but it does.

Maggie, Develop your mental muscles by reprogramming the mind [brain]. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing anxiety-stress. For a relaxed life without anxiety-stress sit on a chair, back erect, hands on lap with palms upwards, eyes closed, be still and observe your natural incoming--outgoing breath and body sensations for around 10-15 minutes. Be as still as possible. Avoid moving too much. Many thoughts will come which is ok--slowly negative thoughts will reduce and your mind will relax with no desire for pills. Mind[brain] are reprogrammed. Best part is mood swings also reduce after daily meditation. . Do the above meditation daily twice without any doubts and enjoy life. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor-Teacher.

But since few days I'm shortness of breath and lump in the throat sensation....
Luckily my chest pain and tingling is reducing everyday...
Should I take meds? Will there be a relapse of the symptoms, especially physical symptoms if I stop the meds after feeling better? These two fears are scaring me and preventing me to go to the psychatrist and take meds...

I’m starting to think I may have an undiagnosed problem. I know I struggle with anxiety but I’ve kind of always managed it on my own. I have always focused on working towards my goals or solving problems. When a problem is solved or goal achieved, I feel better for a few days and then a new problem pops to the surface and becomes my new obsession. Because of the pandemic this is even worse, as achieving goals and working towards a trip or whatever are severely limited. The sense of instability, in terms of health and finances, is more pronounced too. So I have had to sit home with my emotions a lot more and it’s been paaaaainful. Another physical symptom is also cramping in the hands, especially at night. Sometimes I wake up and notice my fists are super tight or I’m doing some weird thing with my wrists.

So sorry you are suffering so much. I had depression for a long time, over 10 years. No one could help me, no one understood, no one really could care or help. People can't help with depression, because our souls belong to God. God created our souls. He knows exactly how to heal our souls. I seeked God's help. Jesus Christ heard my cries and one night He sent help. It was supernatural. He showed me that He heard my cries. And He started to work on my soul. He even sent me joyful dreams. The most interesting thing is that he knows me better than I know myself. Knows the most cherished dreams and desires. Sends the right people at the right time and sends such circumstances that lead to deliverance from all kinds of sadness. Jesus Christ completely healed me and returned my joy. If you have tried everything and there is no improvement, just sincerely and deligently confess all your life to Jesus Chrst. Tell Him everything thats on your heart. Cry your heart our to Him. Ask Him for help. Even if you think its some kind of nonsense, please give this advice a try. Jesus Chrst is REAL, ALIVE and with us. We can't feel Him until we get it. The blood of Jesus Chrst cleanses us from any kind of filth, evil spirits and anything that a person does during his life, and His love heals us spiritually, physically, and emotionally. I hope this message helps someone find peace and regain life. God bless you

Is it best to have a psychiatrist manage MDD/GAD meds or is it okay to have your PCP manage them? I'm having side effects from my SSRI that interferes with daily life and my pcp isn't doing much

    • @MelissaShepardMD
      @MelissaShepardMD  4 года назад +3

It depends on the doctor. Many PCPs manage MDD/GAD medications and are really great at it. I usually advise that people seek out a psychiatrist if their PCP tells them too, or if they feel that they aren't getting better. If you feel like your doc is not helping with the side effects, definitely let them know your frustration if you haven't already. And sometimes some doctors aren't as good at managing these things as other doctors (PCPs and psychiatrists), so at the end of the day, if symptoms or side effects are interfering with your daily life, seeking another opinion is definitely not a bad idea!

She won't open up about her feelings. She shuts down and has a full on panic attack when doctors ask her questions. This has been exhausting 6 years of our lives. Last school year she spent 6 months at home doing home hospital virtual schooling. The teacher was great but she's an SDC student who needs to be in school. Learning in person. I'm so beyond exhausted, stressed, overwhelmed and emotionally drained.

Bremaasa, Develop your mental muscles by reprogramming the mind [brain]. People with anxiety normally feels alone or like it's them alone going throught certain physical sysmptoms and do not have anyone to relate to them but instead hear "just calm down", but we wish it was that easy.

Useful information. In life there are only 2 problems--mind and the body. Be careful what you feed your mind. Avoid comparing yourself with others, reduce watching negative social media and avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress-anxiety. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 10-15-20 minutes or more. You can sit or lay down on the bed--No deep breathing. Don’t fight your thoughts. With practice the mind will relax. Keep a reminder to observe your breath sensations throughout the day and night anywhere -anytime-- before sleep, at work, at home, when travelling etc with eyes open or closed. One more tip is to sit on a chair without moving, be still and observe your breath for a few minutes. Stillness reduces thoughts and brings quick relief. Like me make breath observing a lifetime habit to have a better life. Best wishes--Counsellor.

Thank you for your very informative talk on the physical symptoms of depression and anxiety
Hopefully you can answer my question
I’ve dealt with depression for many years, and the symptom that stands out the most, despite repeated efforts to control my depression, is extreme or profound exhaustion.
This is the symptom that holds me down from doing many things I would otherwise do. The effort involved in doing anything is very great. I would say I am 70% in that state and 30% energetic.
What is an anomaly is the fact that I do not suffer any reduction in my libido, although I have taken medication for 30 years. There is no sexual dysfunction whatsoever.
Apart from some bloating and decrease in appetite, and the big one, insomnia, I have no problems with headaches, nausea, vomiting, addiction, slowness of breath, chest pain, or hot and cold flashes.
After much bloodwork, physical exam at Mayo clinic, and other periodic examinations, I have no other underlying issue, then depression and anxiety.
Have you had any similar cases with depression/anxiety?
