- Dan Wootton has been suspended from GB News following remarks made by Laurence Fox on the broadcaster’s show about a female journalist which have been described as “unacceptable, unjustifiable and indefensible”.
Speaking on Tuesday during an appearance on Dan Wootton Tonight, actor-turned-politician Fox made a series of remarks about Ava Evans, the political correspondent for online news site Joe, including asking: “Who would want to shag that?”
In a statement, the channel said: “GB News has suspended Dan Wootton following comments made on his programme by Laurence Fox last night.
“This follows our decision earlier today to formally suspend Mr Fox. We are conducting a full investigation.”
Spiked’s Brendan O’Neill tells TalkTV’s Julia Hartley-Brewer that althought the comments were unacceptable the fallout has been “spun into hysteria.”
“This is an opportunistic moment for the middle-class mob, the leftish authoritarians, who’ve had GB News in their sights from the very beginning."

GB News is an excellent news channel and as a woman I wasn't the slightest bit offended by the comments made by Lawrence Fox. He clearly meant that it was her disgusting opinions that made her unattractive to men, and the fact that people are clutching their pearls at that rather than the lady herself jeering at men's deaths says everything about this rancid culture. Nobody was actually offended by what Lawrence said, but they'll all pretend to be horrified in order to attack GB News. It's pathetic.

She disallowed R Brand due process before condemning him to thousands on a rape charge, says men should fear approaching women. Let us not forget her dismissive attitude towards male suicide. I can tell you as a social worker men’s suicide is frighteningly on the increase - I can name two in the last 3 months. I’m also female btw
It was the dismissive attitude that upset me deeply because this is the attitude I faced for years from the health service until my son finally succeeded in hanging himself. Her attitude brought it all back like a stab in my heart and reduced me to tears.

Do you find other channels a touch "challenging"? Sometimes things that you find difficult at first become easier over time. Dip your toe in the waters of factual news coverage rather than opinion and entertainment and you might just pick it up.

BBCR4 Today programme were presenting this as "the last straw" for the channel this morning, and a former head of ITV, a guest on the show claimed, in tones of horror and disgust, that he'd never seen a channel like it in his entire life. Everyone seemed to have completely forgotten Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross graphically humiliating and slandering Andrew Sach's granddaughter, live on BBCR2 a few years ago. Did anybody suggest it should be the end of the BBC? How was it different?

I remember when i was a pre-teen I also found the BBC news boring, it was complicated and spoke about things that i didn't know about nor understand. Now that i am an adult, i prefer news to be factual rather than entertaining and/or right-wing propoganda. Perhaps if you give yourself a bit more time you could learn to appreciate news which educates rather than entertains or confirms your political bias? Or perhaps "Newsround" might help ease you into factual news broadcasting?
