I agree with you to watch what you say around your kids and keeping body image positive. My daughter was chubby when she was younger, but out grew it as a teenager. My focus and words was around being active and healthy. Nothing about dieting or her weight. She is now in her 30's and said she never realized she was chubby until she was an adult and looking back at pictures when she was a kid.
Wow. You're a good mom.
Aww how nice
I have always made a point to run and greet my husband with a hug when he gets home from work. Ive been doing this for the 5 years we've been married and I hope to continue it forever!
This winter I did a major capsule wardrobe. A company called wool& has a 100 day challenge. You wear a merino wool dress for 100 days and they give you $100 store credit. It was so soft and fun to style. I LOVED not having to think about what to put on in the morning.
Also we love to listen to audio books or Christian podcasts in the car so we can have fun conversation!
Thanks for the encouragement to not let ourselves run wild with negative self talk. That’s been something I’ve had to work with for years. In regard to talking negatively about yourself to your husband, I once heard that is criticizing his choice of the woman he picked to be his wife. I know, duh, but it puts it in a different perspective.
Wow, that's a weird thought. So true.
I made a summer bucket list with my children. If they keep up with their daily chore chart we do something off the bucket list once a week. It keeps them motivated to get their work done and it helps me make time to do fun things with them.
I have 4 kids ( now young adults) and I always kept a backpack with a change of clothes, sandals, beach towel , dry snacks and bottles of water. Saved us so many times. We call our car a “private dining car” cause my kids ate in the car often.
Love this
Love this!! My kiddos are 6, 4, and 1 and love the reminder that this is the only summer I will have with them at these ages! Looking forward to all of the simple joys of summer- playing outside, eating watermelon and popsicles, going to the pool, etc! Thanks for sharing! 😍
Megan, I absolutely love that you post this type of content. Making a summer list ensures we enjoy the best of the season. I love having little goals throughout my summer. I’m going to post a list on the fridge so the kids can cross it off as we go. You are awesome! Blessings to everyone who reads this ❤
Thanks and blessings to you as well!
I'm a list gal too!
🥰💕
I started buying the t shirt style crop tops from Target to layer over my dresses when I want to change the look or when I’m pregnant:) I don’t wear crop tops alone but they are the best for layering.
I used to have no food in the van until we moved where we have to drive a 45 min to an hour drive to things so food has been happening and it is way harder to keep the van clean. There are just some drives that need food😊
First, I love the graphics you used with today’s video! Second, the top or dress you have on is so cute on you! The colors are perfect! Third, I need to stop and think about what goals I might have for the summer. You’ve given me food for thought. I hope your summer is blessed!
Hi Megan, I enjoy watching your blogs so much. I will say I, too, gave my children chores to do starting at a very young age. I have three girls and one boy. They ALL participated in the rotation of dusting, sweeping, laundry, washing dishes, etc. The chores for these duties were minimal as they were young but increased in difficulty as they grew. My children are all grown, two are married, and they ALL keep a spotlessly clean house, especially my son! Now that grandchildren are in the picture, their homes are "lived" in but clean 😉😊 You can never start too young in teaching domestic responsibilities! Great job, Momma! 🥰
It's the best way to teach them, I know lot's of high schoolers that do nothing and even young adults have their mums do everything.
Dear Megan & Josh. So nice meeting you both in real life and thank you so much for the nice treat. Really appreciate that you took the time to speak to me, despite you both working. I came into all this with a keen interest in the Mennonite/Amish lifestyle and culture. Yet, having been to Lancaster/Ephrata twice by now, I learned too also appreciate the scenery (spend an hour just watching an Amish guy working on his field🙂), the food and not the least, the authentic warmth and friendliness from the locals. So my fellow-subscribers: make sure to visit the September Farm incl. Josh’s Donut and Pretzel Truck. Do not worry Megan - everything will turn out just fine. Trust me. Trust Josh. Until next time, Villum
It was amazing to meet a traveler from afar. Thanks for saying hi!
Megan, this was a great video! I have followed you since you were pregnant with Fletcher, so it’s been a while. I love how you are so inclusive of people who are not Mennonite. It is a wonderful quality that you have.
This was one of your best videos ever! And, although my 5 children are all grown up with children of their own, when we get together at this time of the year, someone always brings up 'remember that summer when we...' and everyone smiles and nods. It may have been a simple picnic or a day at the county fair or a museum, but everyone cherishes those days. You are doing great, Megan, and I'm sure your children will be productive members of society.
My summer is going to consist of spending lots of time doing fun little outings with my toddler before baby #2 arrives in September. 🥰 and also doing as much decluttering and organizing as possible before baby comes!
Love the goal for greeting your husband, gives you the few minutes to show each other that you are excited to see each other,
Also the goal to be done with work by supper, whatever is left you can do the next day. Now it’s family time!
I don't allow food in my van unless we are on a long road trip. We eat before we leave or stop and eat somewhere. I like the idea of the car organizer! I was very chubby and inactive as a kid and want to make sure I talk to my kids about being healthy and strong instead of looking in the mirror and talking about weight. Great video!
I have followed you since your first son was 2.
Ever since you inspired my homemaking.
I'm not sure of my Summer goals, this is a lot of motivation to have some real goals I achieve in a seasons.
“Frugal but frequent family fun” WOW this was exactly the inspiration I needed! I’m with you!!
Keeping my kitchen table clutter free and have fresh flowers on said table❤
Everybody loves warm Summer days! Making memories with family / friends and it's cool you make vids and all because it's like an archive of those awesome moments. 📸🌱🌸☀️
I love that about RUclips! So many memories to relive.
We wrap dinners in foil for camping. We can throw on the coals from the fire. Like breakfast burritos and hobo dinners. Sandwiches in coolers. Summer sausage, crackers, and cheese.
Such an encouraging video! My one thing for the summer is spending more time in the word and with Jesus !Who blesses us with all good things!Including summer!😊
I would set a timer for the children (10-15 minutes) to help with chores! We could get a lot done in 15 minutes!!
Our rule for keeping the van clean is that whatever you bring in the van you take back into the house! ie: books, toys, blankets etc.
Keeping our van clean with 4 kids is a constant challenge for us! 😳
Thanks for this video! It is a great reminder to be intentional with this season!
I love that you dress for Evonne!❤ My little girl is four and I will let her pick out my clothes, always sparkly and pink and dresses and she’ll do my hair, it’s just the best 😊 And I’m totally with you on the leather seats and snacks. I’ve tried no snacks, it didn’t last.
This summer, I’m intentionally teaching my kids chores as well. They help here and there but I’d like it to become more routine.
I love the eating lunch outside idea ❤ especially a cold cuts lunch. I feel like I am already in a capsule wardrobe in my maternity clothes 😂
Evonnie watching you try on clothes was so adorable and patient. 💜The summer entertainment ideas are great and anything that saves cleanup...golden.💯💜
You’re my new favorite RUclipsr ❤ Love all your videos! Thanks for taking the time to share them with us 😊
I would like to have 4 healthy habits for each day of the summer. 1 - get out and have some type of physical activity, a walk or weights, just something. 2. Read a chapter in my bible everyday. 3. Do some house organization each day - even if it's just cleaning a desk or organizing a shelf, and 4. working on a stitching project everyday - which is my favorite hobby and a great stress releaser.
Oh man, I feel the camping grocery budget SO DEEPLY. I think it’s because things we buy for camping, are not our normal purchases. Like, I don’t buy things to make s’mores every week! 😅 Or hot dog buns or snacks like we do when we go camping. I’m def the fun mom when we go camping vs at home full crunchy mom mode 😂😂😂
That definitely has something to do with it. All the fun sauces and snacks.
If you want to be better at wearing sunglasses, buy several pairs and keep them in the places you use the most. That way you don’t have to keep track of moving them from one place to the next. I keep a pair in the house, both of our cars, and in the fall I will put a pair on my school bus since I’m a school bus driver.😎
awesome video! I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe for summer. It was so sweet with your little one watching you try on dresses. Daughters are so special
Collars 😅 truly what goes around comes around. They are super cute ❤
I love each and every one of these. I feel called up higher & really encouraged to make some of my own
I think to remember to grab a little time for yourself each day.
June- August, wow that is brilliant! For schools in UK your summer break starts at the end of July (26th ish) then you go back in the first few days of September! University is a little different but that is how schools work. xx
In Ireland primary school get July and August off. Secondary school get June, July and August! State exams are held In june.
@@lolosrainydaysHello from Derry 🙏❤️🇮🇪
My boyfriend and I are planning to take a trip to Pennsylvania, specifically Lancaster County for all the yummy homemade goods and foods nearby! Love hearing about/seeing the local produce and the amish ladies with their eggs.... I go hiking in Canada and I try to do the same if we pass by farms on our way! :) such a feel good way to spend money because you know it's directly helping a family!
Hope you enjoy your trip!
Living in Florida, the best time to walk is early in the morning, that is my one thing I want to do. Another big thing is to drink lots more water. So many more things but that is a start.
Megan I love all your ideas about summer time. We had 2 sons who are now grown with families of their own. As they were growing up I always looked forward to the summer break and change of routines. Then I would always be ready for the school year to start and get back to a routine. I worked full time outside of the home but always took about 3 weeks where I took vacation time and only worked in the mornings. We did a lot of outdoor activities in the afternoons. I agree with your comment about being careful about what is said around children. Yes they are listening. I grew up hearing my mother say that her mother (my grandmother) hated her picture taken. And my mother always said, oh I hate my picture to be taken. Thus I very much dislike my picture to be taken. Unfortunately there are very very few photos of my late grandmother. Thankfully we have a lot of photos of my mother. I however still do not like my picture to be taken. I now try very hard to have my photo taken with my grandchildren so they will have more photos of me when I am gone. I love your energy and ways of thinking about being intentional. Thank you for sharing your summer ideas!! Have a great summer!!
Not only is decluttering important but once you have freed your space of unnecessary stuff it’s important to evaluate every single thing someone gives you going forward. They mean well but it isn’t going to be used get rid of it. Things can become unruly again quickly.
I totally get the fishing for compliments thing😆 I have *never* cared what anyone thinks of my appearance - like, ever… except for my husband😂 He knows that every morning when I come downstairs after getting dressed & doing my hair and makeup that I just NEED a quick “You look beautiful!” 😆😆😆
I love adding sparkling water to juices to stretch them further and add a little fizz!
I have 6 kids. Im adding in organization to our van too and I've started keeping grocery bags in the van to make cleaning it out regularly easier because I can fill the bag & go. No food in the van is such a hard rule when you're on the go and kids are always hungry!
Being outside and being extremely active! Almost everyday! 12000-15,000 steps a day! Or more! Hopefully more! Focus on healthy nutrition… and keeping up the house…
I am a grandparent. That said not kids at home but my grandkids know that there is no food it drink in the vehicle unless it is water! It’s the only way to keep the food mess out of the vehicles! (In my opinion) 😁
Megan, you are a big inspiration for me and for another mom's out there... thank you so much for your work..and may God bless you ❤❤❤❤
I mix two parts coconut water with one part orange juice over ice and it is shockingly delicious for a summer mom treat!
We love outdoor breakfasts ❤
On the sunglasses topic, about 2 years ago I decided that I want to spend a little bit more money on my sunglasses. I bought a pair of polarized sunglasses versus the $2 pairs that I always lost since I felt they did not provide much protection anyway. I live in South Africa and some of our pharmacies and clothing stores will sell polarized sunglasses. They are still inexpensive. I've found myself taking care of them a lot more, always keeping them in their case and I have not lost them. If you have 10 chapsticks, you tend to end up with none, whereas if you have 1, you keep track of it better...
Each to their own :)
Whatever we take to the car with us or pick up along the way comes out when we get home. I remind them to gather all of their things when we pull in, encourage multiple trips if necessary, and we get it done. I can’t stand a messy car!
I’m planning to add vacuuming and wiping down the surfaces of the car to our “together chore” rotation as well.
Our last is graduating in 3 weeks! But we have wonderful memories of library reading plans, swimming with friends and blanket forts when it was extra hot or rainy.
Love how Ivonnies folding her hands looking at you try on dresses. Sooo sweet ❤
Thanks for the video! It’s always a pleasure! Happy Summer to you all!
Evonnie is the absolute cutest and looks like she is on the front row of New York Fashion week at around min 15.
I love your goals! I would love to incorporate a few of these my self. I want to focus on time with my kids creating conversations and teaching them more. I love how you mentioned greeting your husband! It's something I want to be better about and my husband says it makes him feel loved and everything worth it when we greet him at the door.
Make memories w your children. Before you know it ...they are grown. Enjoy the Summer time !! 💖💙💙
I loved this video!! Great ideas for the summer!
Do a simple first aid kit, feminine hygiene kit, and a pocket knife. All for just in case. Love that you have an emergency kit just like me in my van. ❤
Oh man. Im so grateful for the cheese crisp recipe! You can buy those at the store and theyre like $5 for 4 oz. 🙄
This Summer I want to go swimming at least once a week to get my kids comfortable in the water and one “outing” a week - whether it is grabbing an icecream cone, going to a park, the lake or the zoo, etc. two under two makes these things difficult! So trying to be really intentional about making fun memories while my husband can be home with us ❤
I think people eat more when camping because it tends to be a very active weekend. That’s what I always thought.
Thank you very interesting ,Im planning on trying new thing to x
Have some scheduled learning is my goal
A great video! So many wise hints to use. I will definitely watch this video again and absorb this information.
“While being the fashionista I want to be…in my head” 😂 Same
I hear you!
Thanks for this episode. I have some goals for the Summer, but "setting your intentions" adds a spiritually reflective component. My life is very different, so goals and intentions are rather different, so I won't write it out here, but as I learn to be in my slightly disabled body, adapting to that is primary.
You're videos are beautifully exited!
Great list!! Happy Summer 😎
I too love a good manly hug …. Makes my heart melt!
I have a chore chart for my 4 ,5 ,and 8 yr Olds. It's things that need to be done each day, such as vacuum, clean up thier bedroom, playroom, feeds rabbits and kittens, and set table,as well as in the evening another round of chores set table, check on animals and pick up everything in the yard. They take turns each day to be the first to choose jobs and well done jobs without complaining get paid each Friday. So far it's worked beautifully, and is teaching them about money as well.
We don’t ever let kids eat in the car ;) At home, eating is only at the table ❤
Omg I am so going to try those cheese crisps! So easy!!
Thanks for recommending the all trails app, Didn't know about it and really trying to be more active !!
a simple goal for me is to change out to new placemats for summer season and keep pretty orchids on my dining table!
This was great. I got some good ideas from you. You are right! Enjoy, don't stress so much if something doesn't get done. It will be there the next day still waiting. Lol. Great video Megan.
Why is your family dog hardly in any of your videos except today? Does the dog have roam of inside the house or does the dog stay outside? Some dogs do live outside and I recognize that is where they like to be. As a dog lover we always included our dog in daily life and our trips too and the kids enjoy being next to her and playing with her too as she is part of our family. She is always around.
I look forward to your videos every week!! So excited for this one😁
We have a car bin for summer too, but ours also includes bandaids, bug spray, jackets, and baby wipes.
I agree with you about your summer evenings. I live in Florida and we either can be outside in the early mornings or the evenings but in between is way too hot & sticky. So we do outside chores in the mornings and we like to keep our evenings to do things we enjoy doing together. PS - love your dress.
We 100% have always ate and will always eat when needed in the car. Life gets too busy!
I feel so heard!
Oh wow, I didn’t realize how close Lancaster is to me! I camped near there last year. We definitely are fortunate to live around so much produce! I hope you guys have an amazing summer!💕🌸
Love your dress, Reminds me of a vintage summer look.
I want to
•Also make fruits & veggies a priority in our diet
•lose this extra baby weight
•be successful in my little garden
•spend time outside
•establish a regular routine with my 4 month old
I'm so inspired when I get a glimpse into your goals/ideals! I hope you never stop creating videos🥰
I love to watch this type of content, and it's fun to create too!
Megan have you always been how you come across on your videos?
I wish I had a personality like yours.
I love watching your videos thank you!!❤ We love camping and are going 3 times😊
We want to have more things outside without electronics and we said we want to explore our city this summer and be tourists
Megan thanks for making my day even better! Love you channel girl can’t wait to watch now while my toddler naps! 💖🙏💖🙏
I Dana! So glad we can hang out today! Hope she sleeps good!
Excited to see the summer capsule wardrobe you put together!
I showed it in this video. Did you see it?
"I'm raising a family not an Instagram feed." The memories are made in the everyday moments, not in the Instagram photos. 😅
yes yes yes!!!
Dads always say no snacks in the van but they aren't dealing with hangry kids!!! My husband said the same thing, but he isn't with them running around all day.
I live in Austin. We have a lot of brick and mortar restaurants. The problem is that there are food trucks that are encouraged to park. The food truck are raking it in. Your husband is smart.
Camping food does add up! I can’t put my finger on it either. Lol.
Love this video. ❤
Just watched the intro. Can't wait to watch! Excited for some new ideas for my summer routine. It's about to get chaotic! (In a good way) Tomorrow is the last day of school for my kiddos!
Tomorrow for us too!
Oooh Id be interested in seeing a video on various homemade snacks!
My husband and I both got new vehicles last summer. He made the rule of no food in them to preserve their newness.. that lasted only about a month. Not because they didn’t listen but because my husband couldn’t stick to it himself 🤣 so little by little the rule got bent until it went out the window all together! Now I just try to clean them regularly.
I love this! Thank you for sharing you've given me something to think about. I'd also love for you to share some of your snack recipes. Thank you for the video 💛
I have a video in the works!
Megan, you are so funny, ”Spreading manure on the fields” in Lancaster County it’s a must! I hope to visit September Farm soon. I’m a couple of counties East of you so I plan my route and day around all the stops I like to make. I hope you’ll do more arts and crafts with the children this summer and display them! God Bless
You’re glowing 🌟
I love filming when I have a message I'm passionate about. Thanks for being here!
Such a good video. I had to watch twice.
I want to make bagels from strategic and learn how to make French press coffee. Random but I’m excited to try them both! I’m a high school teachers and I have 14 schools days left! Then a nice summer to relax
