- The Philips Hue Smart Plug is a great way to add a lamp or light into your Philips Hue Setup if it can't use a Hue Bulb. These are more expensive than standard smart plugs but they are very reliable and use Zigbee for a great connection.

Thanks for this quick and informative video. I'm new to smart plugs and I wasn't sure if the hue version would be worth it over the Kasa brand. That said, I'm already in the Hue ecosystem and so I think this would be great if I wanted integration with the app. No requirement to download yet another app by going with a competitor is already kind of a nice benefit as well.
Yeah I've had the Kasa's for a few years now as well and these are a lot more reliable, the Kasas are good for the money but I like these better. I'm also working on a review of the Meross Matter smart plugs that are pretty nice.
Can you use the Hue smart plug to turn on anything other than a light? For example, I would like to be able to turn music on remotely.
Does it work on COB lights?
Yes
Why not make it a dimmer also?
Takes a slightly different design in the way it works. they should have a dimmer plug though, but dimmer plugs also aren't compatible with all different types of bulbs.
