SHAO LIN LUO HAN 35 years later

- Luo Han Quan is the most "wide and circular" sequence I have ever studied of this style. 36 years have passed since I studied it with master Liang Yi Quan and his students at the Shaolin temple in Henan. These days I am practicing it for a seminar that I will soon hold in Rome and I found an old video in the school archives of me performing it just a year after learning it. It was interesting to make a comparison: mine today are the movements of an elderly person, less explosive, less athletic and less fast. Yet inside me I have the perception of finally understanding Luo Han, her concepts and her uniqueness.
Time takes away the superfluous, but brings gifts.

You look even more rooted and powerful now. Awesome
💯 YES!! 👀 Those grounded heels that put that heel snap SINGLE WHIP action in it.
It's awesome to able to see how the (slow?) REPETITIONS over time improve upon the dynamic athleticism displayed earlier.
Bellisimo! May be less athleticism, but definitely more maturity in form and intent.
Yes David, Intent becomes the key to everything as you progress in practice.
Amazing. The later is more potent. Thank you.
Complimenti Sifu.
Bravo! This is a difficult form, and one of my favorites. The movement called ‘Buddha sleeping’ (called that by my teacher, anyway, the move shown in the thumbnail ) has served me well. I only hope that “35 years later” I may do half as well as you.
You'll do just as well David. A simple secret of our art is to practice every day 🙏🏽
Incredible!! If that performance 35 yrs aho had been the first time I saw you, I know I'd have become an instant fan.
Amazing skill, you haven't missed a step, Master Basili, Very Impressive!!!!
Ciao Bob. I even hope to do it better next year 🙏🏽
Ciao Dante, a very 👍 good comparison between two very nice performers, they are different, one is competing, the other is doing it for 💘 love. The fact that they are the same person, in different times makes it very poignant. The passion for perfection is clearly seen 😊 .Cheers
Grazie Peter. It's true... for love!
Ciao Dan. Gracias con todo mi corazón 🙏🏽
❤ nоw more deeper 👍, good idea
Them 2 legged jumps!!
Hello. I like today's performance. I see how in twisting transitions such as zuo pan or xie bu, as well as in turns, the influence of baguazhang is manifested. Pubu and Zhen Ti Tui, no worse than before. It’s noticeable that you haven’t missed a day of practice.👍
Nice analysis, yes in all these years Bagua Zhang and Taiji have profoundly influenced me. What you write is interesting 🙏🏽
@@DanteBasili Thank you. The fact is that I know this transformation from my own experience. Over the years of Xinyiquan practice. The line between forms and ordinary movements is gradually erased. Tan Tui and Chojiao in our direction, integrated at the end of the 19th century, served as such a bridge. Now almost any forms that I repeat from external styles are essentially an internal style but performed in a “square”. It is very convenient because I love styles such as Fanzi, Shaolinquan and Baji. As well as the base of Chan Quan and single gongs from Shuai Jiao. At the same time, this counts towards internal practice. I think you caught this feature of Chinese martial arts much earlier🙏
Sifu Dante grandioso!!!!!
🙏
rispect.....
Respect
spettacoilissimo
Nothing short of awesome
Very impressive
Grazie 🙏🏽
Splendid Dante. Marvelous! Thanks for sharing.
Greetings from Wien.
Grazie Stefan. I'm glad you appreciate it 🙏🏽
Having only become aware of Manson Gibson quite recently, I'd concluded that Praying Mantis is quite underrated in many ways!! My interests led me to your site around the same time. God is good!! Thx 4 uploading!! Whooooot! Keep 'em coming!!
Maestro Dante Basili, ...ahora le sale mejor 🙏
Grazie 🙏🏽
Mis respetos maestro ☯️
Grazie Marco 🙏🏽
Respect!
Luohan Quan was not for beginners, for beginners they taught Xiao Hong Quan and then Da Hong Quan. In Master Liang Yiquan's school.
