What you're doing here, in contrast to so many other lessons, is giving us permission to feel, to listen, to experiment. When our brain is busy asking 'is it a song, or an exercise, what am I learning?' Jack gives us permission to ignore our brain and engage with the instrument differently. Cheers
You're a fantastic teacher Jack. I've been playing music for most of my life, and am getting back into piano after a solid ten or more year break. I've really enjoyed watching you noodle away on synth review videos, and have always wanted to pick up the skill of improvisation on keys so decided to follow along with this series, even though it's way below my 'level'. With stringed instruments I can jam away for hours, but back when I studied piano it was just reading sheet music, very rigid classical stuff, and I feel I never learned to PLAY. I could sight read, but that never converted to getting out what I hear in my head. In a way I'm trying to un-learn a lot of things, and be more free. I think this will help a great deal.
Just ordered a Digital piano after years of on-and-off noodling around. This video series is leaving me really excited to start afresh! Thanks so much! I love your style of teaching, Jack.
Hey Jack Please keep this series up, we are inspired by your playing and we are quite happy and satisfied to come along and play with you. In fact for me, I bought the same exact keyboard you are playing right now, the CDP-S100 and learning to play the keyboard at the moment. Great Job, much appreciated. God Bless mate. 😀
I’ve been playing for 30 years now, and still you learned my something new. Even this is a beginner lesson, this mighy still be very useful for other as well. Great video!
This is a great video series, Jack! Thank you so much! I’m a solid guitar player trying to learn a little piano/synth during my “stay at home” time. Very helpful!
I love this channel.. Many things you will learn not just piano review but also you will learn note voicing and more... I think this Casio win the blind test on your channel
@1:58, you mention that the interval you're playing is a 5th, but it is actually a 4th (or to be more technical, it's a perfect 4th). If you were to invert the 4th so that the G was above C, then it would be a 5th (or a perfect 5th if you want to be technical).
I’m brand new to playing piano and no previous music experience (and an old f**t to boot). And got my Casio cdps100 from you😀. Getting more structured tuition via #pianote but love your relaxed (and slightly rebellious) approach to supplement Pianote. Keep it coming please.
So... you’re a great keyboard player and I really enjoy hearing you play, and talk about playing. How did you get to this level of proficiency? I’d be interested in the detail of that journey.
And if you look at the records in front of the keyboard, well, the last one on the right says it, apart from good ol Leo of course haha, only joking............or am I. Like the way you teach
My budget for digital keyboard is the cheaper the better.. but I dont want to be with that feeling of wanting more... so is the cdp100 64 polyphony good enough for most people? Or should i go for atleast 128?

Legend
So... you’re a great keyboard player and I really enjoy hearing you play, and talk about playing. How did you get to this level of proficiency? I’d be interested in the detail of that journey.
Practice
It's called practice. Gotta put in the time.
I think that’s a given, but I’m sure Jack has an interesting journey to share as well, if he wishes to 🙂
Droan keating ha!!
Hi, Jack uses "first, index and middle fingers" instead of "first, middle, last" fingers for the intervals. Any thoughts on which will work better?
And if you look at the records in front of the keyboard, well, the last one on the right says it, apart from good ol Leo of course haha, only joking............or am I. Like the way you teach
