Hey girl, one of the things that you will realize through nursing school is that you need to be patient with yourself. I remember skills lab and having trouble finding the brachial pulse and it bothered me a lot. But, with practice I mastered it. Everything in nursing school comes with time and repetition. Don’t be your worst enemy, embrace the journey and study a lot. It will feel like you are on a treadmill everyday but you will get used to it and see results! I am a senior in an accelerated program and I have 3 classes left!

Please don't freak out if you can't find the brachial pulse, I remember my first year of nursing school I thought BP was the hardest thing to do. I couldn't hear where the SBP started and the DBP ended. But, you got this, just practice on your family and friends if you can you'll get more comfortable with it. I'm currently in my last year of nursing school with online classes and clinical in person. You got this!

Oh my goodness, I cannot relate more to the struggle of taking manual blood pressure. I'm in block 2 now of my nursing program and it is still the bane of my existence. Just practice and you'll get a lot better! Good luck!
If you’re taking a BP from the patients right arm put the stethoscope on the inner portion of the elbow like normal but slide it more to the left (the patients left towards the body) not in the middle like they teach you and you’ll always find it 💛 don’t let small things like that get you down just practice and build your confidence !
Hey girl! Don’t stress about the brachial pulse, I did the vital sign off two weeks ago and didn’t pass the BP. I’ve been a CNA for years so it was very discouraging but we’ll always end up getting it so never let it bring you down!

Oh my gosh this so reminds me of my first day of lab in nursing school. My clinical instructor taught us one way to do BP, and our lab evaluator was wanting us to do it a different way so my whole group was freaking out and multiple people failed. Looking back on it now, I sort of laugh at it because I let such a minor inconvenience get to me. I have also cried in my car before going into lab because I was so nervous and worked up... you'll get through it girl

I literally took my boyfriends BP everyday the week before my check off and i easily found it on my partner the day of ! You got this don’t stress 🙂
i love to watch vlogs like this and it makes me feel so happy i found this specific vlog. just what you do makes me relate a lot. i am still a junior in high school, but i don't know if i want to go through the medical field or be a therapeutic mentor. i am still struggling with what path to take, but your vlog is really making me want to go more for the nursing route. :)
Hey, med student here! When we learned blood pressure we were told that you weren’t going to be able to hear it until the cuff is constricting blood flow and you’re loosening the valve to let the air out. You won’t hear it just putting your stethoscope to someone’s arm! I hope that helps ❤️
Girl, take from someone who has been there, done that. Blood pressure can take a little bit to master and honestly there’s times that I don’t hear the brachial pulse before inflating the cuff. Sometimes they can be hidden up under muscle and tendons in adults, which is why we don’t check adult brachial pulses in emergencies (but we do for peds). Don’t worry. Breathe and take one issue at a time. Nursing school is just going to get crazier but you can do it, don’t let the little things frazzle you. And also don’t freak out over being the last to figure it out because there are hundreds of other skills that y’all will go through. Everyone had a handful of skills that give them trouble. What I’m saying is if they’ll be struggling with something soon so if they are judging, they’ll get a realty check real soon.
I’m studying for PCT blood pressure can be tricky, the brachial pulse is on the left side of the inner elbow... right where they usually draw blood from... hope this helps ♥️
Gurl I felt your pain !!! My program got put under quarantine week 1 due to exposure at lab day 1 and we have been doing all lab at home and going in one by one for check off 😒 the work load kicked me in the teeth but managing ! Good luck god bless you got this

same thing for me. i can’t find the brachial pulse on any of my family at home.
i couldn't find the brachial pulse either when i first practiced taking blood pressure! turns out the stethoscope i used was really cheap so i couldn't hear anything lol.
also try to not press too hard when trying to palpate for the pulse. idk if that'll help! good luck
