Hearing this song from Roots brings back bittersweet memories for me. January 1977 was when it aired and it was the talk on everyone's lips. I was a high school junior at the time. Remember daddy watching it with us and discussing things afterwards. Sadly, he died in an accident that following spring. It's poignant to hear this song after so many years.

I remember when this came on TV. Two hours every night for a whole week. And almost everyone in America watched it.

Can't help but get quite emotional when I hear this. Perfect blend of Western and West African Music styles. A beautiful piece.
My favorite movie theme song of all time!!
Mines too
I love that music!
Great piece of music
Beautiful. It’s been forty years since I watched this and the music stirs so many memories. I remember it like it was yesterday.
This played right at the end after the formal credits and music showing the cast in alphabetical order. Powerful stuff...
Stunning in every way. My favorite theme ever.
the best always
Great music

this happened because of the curse of ham!
This seems like a racist comment, cuz it seems to me like you're saying we deserved slavery because of one guy who we are not related to
