I remember when this came on TV. Two hours every night for a whole week. And almost everyone in America watched it.

Hearing this song from Roots brings back bittersweet memories for me. January 1977 was when it aired and it was the talk on everyone's lips. I was a high school junior at the time. Remember daddy watching it with us and discussing things afterwards. Sadly, he died in an accident that following spring. It's poignant to hear this song after so many years.

Can't help but get quite emotional when I hear this. Perfect blend of Western and West African Music styles. A beautiful piece.

This played right at the end after the formal credits and music showing the cast in alphabetical order. Powerful stuff...

Roots très beau film mais très poignant quand on voit la façon dont les esclaves étaient traités inhumains je compatis à la peine et la haine des gens qui ont vécu ça et à leur descendance

@@PaschanTOPs well it's a dumb one. The equivocation would be to use the Eiffel tower to symbolise a movie set in Italy, on the basis that they're both in Europe.

@@darthmong7196 No, it's not the same. Africa is a continent which infinit power knows no boundaries. All cultures, flora and fauna of Africa is a whole unity. In a few years europeans will beg to enter Africa as it's the main source of the world's resources and humanity's future will depend on that beautiful continent. Africa is One. Always been always will. Limits and boundaries were created by europeanns. Let them live isolated for the few years remaining for them.
