As a college graduate with a degree in math, I can confirm that nothing from nothing does leaves nothing.
Im staring at 18 empty beer bottles and they came from something!....
I was 12 years old in 1974. I didn't have a great childhood. Songs like this helped get me through. Billy Preston was awesome
me too
I was 5 years old hahaha but heard his music on the radio when I was 10 years old.
I was 11 and remember this well. Dominated the radio on the way to school
I hope your life is great now. I always loved the music when I was a teen. The 70s
Yes, he was awesome but he had a rough time too. A really rough time, from what I read and hear. I'm glad you made it through. Life is hard. Peace to you.
Billy Preston is literally the personification of joy.
In his performances, yes.
why would hip hop and rap be listened to?
@@normbale2757
Because no-one is in a jovial mood at all times.
The minor he assaulted would disagree
@@danielflanard8274 In that case, listen to Soundgarden.
Billy Preston = The Fifth Beatle
Wrong
Yes, because he played on three songs.
Yeah, I believe it was Lennon who said that if there was a 5th Beatle it would be Preston, and also Preston is the only artist credited in a Beatles song
@@TheLarryBrown
Actually 5 songs.
"Get Back" - Billy Preston played the electric piano.
"Don't Let Me Down" - He contributed on the electric piano.
"Something" - He played the organ.
"I Want You (She's So Heavy)" - He played the organ.
"The Long and Winding Road" - He played the electric piano.
Both Billy Preston and George Martin were referred to as "The 5th Beatle". I always thought Martin had the better claim as his influence permeated almost everything they did.
The greatest afro in the history of rock belonged to Billy Preston..
Neal Schon sported a pretty good one, considering he was white.
Dead heat with Sly
@@lexworld1807 That was another good one.
@@brookswade5774 Neal's was big and bushy, but it lacked the fabulousness that Billy's had...
This ain't rock.
The fun and pure happiness in the music is so great

So much enthusiasm!
That is homosexual glee on his face.

The Afros of the 70’s were phenomenal.
Yeah they were. Well, my brother-in-law had a very, very good afro and that was in the late 90's, early 2000's. It was no technically "in fashion'" but everyone loved it.
And the bell bottom pants that covered your shoes...landlines and you better be home before streetlights come on 😉.
When I first saw him on a paid programming, I couldn't help thinking he looked like Jules from Pulp Fiction.
Yes! ❤

Congratulations Billy Preston for being inducted into the class of 2021 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Finally right on Billy. RIP
He deserves it!! Even though he's motown!! I welcome him with open arms!!!
About fkin time
Should have been inducted a long time ago. Not so sure about this hall of fame.
@@ken2999 I think he's in because of his Beatle connection.
Exelente tema clásico, 1974, el Quinto Beatles, nunca pasarán de moda, gracias por compartir este gran ejemplar video
Everything this guy touched musically turned into pure gold...
The world NEEDS Billy Preston right now.... :(
I know it's so sad
4 years later and we still need him.
This guy is so happy he's making me happy!
Hallelujah that’s what I’m talking about Billy Preston
My word, his eyes shine like the sun.
that happens when you're really friggin' high. No judgement.
Black music in the 50s/60s/70s was THE best
Easily one of the best songs ever created. Also I would like to nominate this for a honorary Tiny Desk concert award.
Is that you Ken Burke on guitar or are my eyes deceiving?
He could make everyone happy but himself.
He was a child prodigy who was probably in his mid 20s here. I was 6 in 74' and I heard his music a bit later in life. RIP Billy Preston. (1946 - 2006) 🎹❤
He was terrific! Positive energy.
Real musicians playing real instruments! No sampling, no autotune, no computers!!!
Uplifting song. Pure joy. Haven't heard it for maybe 45 years or so. All da best from USSR/Russia
This reminds me of being a little child, way back in the mid seventies, wow at how different things were then.
It's so cool being able to open up a video and see this again. One of the better parts of technology.
Thank you for the awesome song Billy Preston.
My brother used to sing this song when he was alive. May he rest in peace ❤
Every night, my neighbor listens to this song...
I make sure of it.

This is so damned uplifting. R.I.P Billy, the 5th Beatle!
I came here to say this exact thing! Not a lot of people remember him as being the 5th Beatle.
@@cindycindybobindy1855 ...Cindy, We'll soon be seeing more of Billy as he features in Peter Jackson's undiscovered footage of The Beatles in 'Let it Be.' I think the film will be called 'Get Back.'
Oh, thanks for the info!
Us: Billy, how many keyboards?
Billy: yes!
Oh please.
Billy Preston had such a great energy about him..love it.
He really did and you can feel his joy and energy on his music and watching him perform brings me joy. His smile is infectious and help is always smiling. I remember seeing him on tv as a little kid and just being drawn into his performance and his energy. I was only 5 or 6 but it stuck with me. I don't even think I knew what his name was
Yeah, very apparent in Get Back.
The best smile in the business, pure joy!
What a giant of a talent.
I have to wonder about anyone who doesn't love this song.
Thanks Mr Preston for your music❤
Smiles, hi Doris 🤗
As far as a solo artist, to me this is emblematic of who Billy Preston was as an artist, what a wonderful wonderful pop hit
I'm 65 and I still listen this music. It was popular in 60, 70, I don't know 80s
and soon you will be 66. Congrats !😅
Dang, he's soo good. We need more Billy Preston's in this world.
He's music was great! But we do not need anymore like him! We all know what he really was! Well allegedly is?

Man, does this song say it all!? What do you think haters, cheaters and liars?
We need joyful music like this again. He was such a lovely person.
You can see the man has so much rythm it leaks into his afro.
No wonder his afro is so big and fluffy. :o
That afro is a Masterpiece!

He is related to my father. We're actually cousins.i don't know him in person but my dad and him are actually cousins. This man has good music
Such contagious smiles. Especially from he and his drummer 😁😆
A great number, full of soul, from the final "Fifth Beatle." Thank you, Billy! Rest in peace.
So much funk it grew out of his head.

Fun Fact for those who don't know: Billy Preston was there playing keyboard with the Beetles in their famous impromptu last concert on top of the Apple Corps roof. He was friends with George Harrison.
Some call him the fifth Beatle
twenty years old when this was big. still sounds great at 70. we were really going places then............
The fifth Beatle such talent and they recognized his talent
Man, THIS 51 year old white boy has ALWAYS and STILL digs this song. This is timeless stuff that I played to my kids since they were knee high to a grasshopper.
Just a bunch of young people jammin', making killer music. So awesome
RIP Billy Preston. What a national treasure. This song lifts me up so much. If anyone hasn't listened to his music; please I implore you. Take the time to do so. He changed my life for sure.
If you listen to this and aren't smiling, then you must be dead.
Sempre bello ascoltare un classico di BillY
That has got to be one of the best piano solos ever.
Indeed. I think the way the inner voices travel through and against the melodic moves of the octave boundaries of his right hand chords is particularly genius. For one thing, there are almost always three inner voices within that compact span, which is one or two more than most players normally fit into fast right hand passages. He also rarely sounds all the voices simultaneously, instead adding intricate syncopation and flam which makes the chords pop. Plus he builds soaring phrases, like a master stonemason building the arches of a great cathedral. But with that insane driving energy, like Bach on methedrine...
I'm pretty sure someone who really knew stuff would find enough for a whole book...
Sometimes less is better.
This is Gold!
There is a lot going on in this song! And yes it is Gold!
How many keyboard players do you need Billy?
Billy: Yes.
All of them.
he only needed one, himself, but he graciously allowed the others to join in.
🤣🤣🤣
He probably wants one more 💯
Ruben, I'm so glad I didn't have any food in my mouth when I read your comment. It would have all been splattered out when I laughed!
*if this doesn't brighting and uplift you then may the GOD LORD BLESS YOU bc you're dead inside👼🏿✊🏿👍🏿*

His so wonderful and beautiful...what an artist and piano player. My fifth Beatle!!
I heard that he played pianos for the Beatles and the Rolling Stones true legend
That horn arrangement
is killer. Ah, baby!
What a talented man, and what a great song! So glad I grew up in the '60s & '70s.
This man was a genius, had a great smile, talent and charisma. We miss you Billy!! Thank you so much for posting this!
I'm an 80s baby and grew up listening to hip hop. I lost interest in it though due to the negative culture. I've found there is so much more to appreciate in the older music. They actually thought it out and put effort into it. And you can absolutely hear it in the music. Your guys music was drastically far better than my generations music.
Billy was such a huge talent and this is probably my favorite song from him!
Space Race was outta this 🌎 😂😁
Will run round in circles
I think Billy's dancing in "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" is exquisite. His moves were so graceful. And I love hearing him sing, "Get Back"! That is my favorite memory of Billy. And I agree he was a huge talent.

This guy is magic!
can't do nothing but bob your head and smile with this song.
Can one Afro have so much fun? Billy's pure joy in just being there, singing, is contagious.
That afro is so intense that it's as if the afro is sporting Billy rather than Billy sporting the afro!
One of the best afros and he had it for a long time
It’s as if the Afro and Billy were symbiotic in nature. Both needed each other..
This man is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Well perhaps I should say handsome as he is def 100% real man. We have a shortage of real men these days so I'm always appreciative of when I see one
I forgot all about this tune. Sure missed it. Excellent song, keeps my head bobbin' no doubt. 👍
He was a gem. I got to know him well during the last days of his life.
How did that happen? He was in a coma for months......so how did you get to know him?
Classic from 1974! 🔥
He was very talented on piano. These songs were just the begining of his talents
I went back and watched the first episode of SNL this week trying to find something new to watch, and I came across this guy in it and I'm so impressed! Man this gets in your head really well too
I see a lot of famous guys here in this clip. The bass player is one of the 5- Stair Steps and one of the keyboard players is Roberta Flack’s son.
I think I heard this song for the first time in 1974. I loved it then and I love it now! ❤

This song fit in perfectly with 70s pop music. Great song.
