When I kept getting my ass whooped, I just stopped blaming the other person for beating me, and tried to see what I did wrong, accepting that I messed up. Other friend didn't do that, and I stopped playing games with them, I started getting better at the game, and also began to have more fun playing. Even if it began as something as simple as "Not wanting to lose, not wanting to lose as much." from me, it helped make me into a better person when I accepted that my inability to adapt to my opponents was why I was losing.
