Jefeth Lopez It depends on how you define skill. We are used to defining skill by equating it to finesse. Which is a complete fallacy. Demetrius Lykes but its not like lebron just casually giving the ball to a teamate and score a jumper easily, he looks for open teamate or even does some unbeleivable passes that would lead to great offense so wtf is your point?

He had a good jump shot back in the CLE days, certain aspects had him in the situation of needing to shot and not needing to. LeBron had a confidence/consistency issue that wasn't really noticed. When he took shots he didn't need to, due to wanting to purely score, he had the tendency to miss quite often. Although he had his days where he would just light it up. When he needed to dis his thing, he did. Now he's smarter, stronger, better etc. but people fail to realize he had always been great!
Exactly!! My brother was on, at first he was gonna write hate about that Kobe remark then he changed his mind I guess. Finally someone who knows something! I have to say stuff like this all the time.
well Kobe's record was most points scored at the garden which was held by MJ before so it actually means a lot to Kobe as a player since the garden is one of the favourites to play at.
"LeBron has attempted 16 FGA in the 4th qtr of these Finals. 11 of them have been jump shots and he's 0-11 on them. The other 5 have been dunks/layups and he's 4-5 on them. All 4 of those dunks/layups came with the game either decided or in open court situations(wide open dunk after steal), so basically, nothing when the team was actually seriously guarding him."
I know, and there were talks this season about trading Shaq to Cleaveland. Now, that would had put them over any team this season considering how good the Cavaliers already are.
Right. I didnt know that kobe missed the playoffs in 04 though so my bad. But he carried his team for a long time and got his well-deserved allstar team.
Honestly, I think the heat have two weaknesses 1)- Lack of a veteran leader 2)- Lack of a great coach They have a pretty talented team though, if not the most talented in the NBA, I'll say that much
People that don't know the game think rings define a player, when it only defines a team. A championship team often has a hall of fame player or two on it, but those players that had those rings usually didn't get them until they were on the right team.
kobe in his prime can shoot anywhere from post mid post, behind the ark and way behind the ark.he can play defense, his a good passer if he chose to but his a one on one player first guy.he got a lot moves,a great footwork.a complete player..lebron is like a new version of magic,a much stronger version.he already develop his shooting and clutchness.already in his prime while kobe's game is getting down although he still can compete in a high level because of his footwork and will..
at least that pressure is on him. Some of those plays that he passes up, he takes one extra 'crab dribble' and it's an open lane to the basket for an easy dunk or a foul.
You think just because he had 0 assists meant that he got no one involved? Bynum and Gasol each got about 15 attempts, but it was so obvious that they were not playing with passion. It aggravates me that the Lakers have such big tall post players, and they cannot play up to their expectations every game. That is why the Lakers lost.
When Kobe's 61 is mentioned, LeBron's near triple-double is also talked about. Jordan's 55 was a much better performance because it came against the #1 defensive team and he was coming off of an 18 month retirement.
i don't see why we can't debate who more greatly helps their team win games instead of comparing individual numbers, because as long as you win, that's all that matter anyone wanna add to this?
That's a valid argument. Kobe had to go through the same thing also. Except he had NOBODY. Kwame Brown and Smush Parker on the Lakers meant playing 3 vs 5 with Kobe, Odom, and Devean George. Put them in the East where only Detroit was good in 05-08. I think the Lakers would be top 3 just as LeBron's Cavs were.
Nothing says seizing the moment either by passing it to a role player who actually isn't open because he passed too early instead of assessing the situation. Realizing that he could've taken that one extra dribble and another scenario could have occured: - that team mate would be actually open now or - he tried to attack, forcing the help to react and another team mate is open at the basket. We can debate this forever but there is a reason at times why people question his 4th quarter play.
cant say that to a guy with 5 rings, maybe not a good ball passer coz hes a attack player first..his will and high level of play made his teamates played harder..you cant win 5 rings if you dont have team chemitry..so he made his teamtes better through another way
With his fourth season of at least 2,000 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists, James became the 2nd player in NBA history (Oscar Robertson) to post at least those numbers in four seasons or more.
Wilt recoreded the best PER season. But overall playoffs included, Jordan had superior PER numbers. Jordan is the most efficient overall productive Basketball player ever through the course of a career.
assist LEAD to points so they do count as points...rebounds can be put backs which are points, or another opportunity to score or less chances for the opposing team to score cuz you need the ball to score.
Btw to laker fans saying lebron had to hop on Wade to win, remember Kobe rode shaq to 3 rings, won 1 fair in Orlando and shot 37 percent in laker wins in the finals this year and was basically CARRIED this year. How a 40 percent shooter can get finals MVP baffles me especially a 40 percent shooter that avgs as many assists as turnovers in the finals... Pretty much means he was a shot jacker. Clearly carried for 4-5 rings.
People forget about David Robinson's QUADRUPLE DOUBLE 34pts/10rebs/10blcks/10blocks. 61 pts is just points. But a triple double that has points and helps his team is more impressive. 10 assists means at least 20 pts added to your team's score. 10 rebounds is at least another 20 pts contributed to your team. Then dont forget MJ's 69 pts 18 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 rebs, 1 steal. 18 rebounds as a guard, come on. thats jsut ridiculous.
Lmao I love when people say Kobe side kick himself to three rings like the lakers would have done it with out him Lmaoo dude you sound so illiterate that three would have never if it wasn't for both Kobe and Shaq cuz no Rick fox or deaven George would have filled up Kobe's spot in that smh the thing ppl say these days just cuz
this wasnt even kobes prime..... im tellin yall, yall love to act as if lebrons ahead of kobe by miles. theyre not far apart. its like comparing lebron to jordan today. jordans better but lebrons right there. lebrons better but kobes right there
Vince is 6'5. Lebron is 6'8. Vince is 220. Lebron is 260. 3 inches and 40 pounds adds A LOT. And he has that size with AT LEAST the same athleticism as Carter, along with a wingspan that surpasses 7 feet. If you put that size and athleticism on another skilled player, they'd dominate too. That combination just hasn't been seen before until Lebron. His body is what puts him above and beyond other players, not his skill.
I didn't say Gary Payton wasn't a great player, I used to love watching him play but he is an annoying basketball analyst. Especially when he and C-Webb were on TNT.
I don't care who is playing defense, scoring 81 points in one game is unimaginable, some people couldn't score 81 points in a full game playing by themselves
Lebron became the third player in NBA HISTORY to average at least 30.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game (Oscar Robertson and Michael Jordan)became just the second player in NBA history to post four consecutive seasons of at least 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (Oscar Robertson). Of course Kenny would hate stats. He's no where in the running.
In the same way that Kenny said STATS are a lie, I can say the same about Kobe. 61, 81, whatever the deal, Kobe had his shot at good, but not great players around him. Remember the days before Gasou and Bynum? He was an individual machine on the court, but he couldn't TRANSFORM a franchise the way James did in Cleveland. Like I said before. Lebron's Cavs are nice now. Add Bynum, Gasou, and the team of bench shooters that Kobe has and it's domination.
Lebron is the only active player in the NBA to have five consecutive seasons with at least 2,000 points and became just the ninth in NBA history, joining legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, George Gervin, Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlin, Dominique Wilkins, Oscar Robertson, Alex English and Karl Malone all-time.
Kobe is a scorer, that stats showed it 61 points, 0 rebs, 3 asts, Lebron is a great all around player and probably the better player to build a team around, he had 52 points, 10 rebs and 11 asts.
How can you not count assists as points? That means he contributed points to his team's totals. They should have included their shooting % in the debate because that's important too
That's the thing, it was a switch not a three player trap. He has a slower player on him and can either easily blow by or force the foul. But no he doesn't seize the moment and instead defers.
if you listen to what they're saying Kobe >Lebron
This was in 2009. None of them think that now

I agree except to fact of finals consistency and playing against good defensive teams who can take away something that you do.

2 seconds left in the game, do you want your star player to:
1) Take the shot
2) Pass to Haslem
With his fourth season of at least 2,000 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists, James became the 2nd player in NBA history (Oscar Robertson) to post at least those numbers in four seasons or more.
Have you seen the 2012 Finals and Playoff run? Also the 2011 playoff run?
Wilt recoreded the best PER season. But overall playoffs included, Jordan had superior PER numbers. Jordan is the most efficient overall productive Basketball player ever through the course of a career.
assist LEAD to points so they do count as points...rebounds can be put backs which are points, or another opportunity to score or less chances for the opposing team to score cuz you need the ball to score.
Kobe Bryant,12/15/06: 53 pts, 10 reb,8 ast 17/38, 44%.
KB42PAH (aka Alborz or PAH) posted the video on RUclips.
It was a retirement because he wasn't playing basketball for 18 months. He wasn't in basketball shape either.
I never mentioned them sweeping western teams anyway. I don't think that would've happened in the west.
I'm not comparing who have better impact on his team. I'm simply saying who is better player in my opinion.
An all around better game is more impressive than a pure one scoring performance any day!
For debate practice, and personal satisfaction that you know that you won a debate
Man, I see you everywhere. Represent!!
in just 3 years later...
What are they saying? Even Jordan in his interviews used to pay homage to Magic (watch his documentary videos). Its called respect.
Lebron
became the third player in NBA HISTORY to average at least 30.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game (Oscar Robertson and Michael Jordan)became just the second player in NBA history to post four consecutive seasons of at least 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (Oscar Robertson).
Add Bynum, Gasou, and the team of bench shooters that Kobe has and it's domination.
based on your theory, rebounds don't matter because they don't help score, or the fact that kobe was a better defender that year
If you don't see what he's doing now, you never will.
"the already good team he had" LOL, stop it man, you're making me laugh too hard! I can't even breathe, omg HAHAHA
Lebron is the only active player in the NBA to have five consecutive seasons with at least 2,000 points and became just the ninth in NBA history, joining legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, George Gervin, Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlin, Dominique Wilkins, Oscar Robertson, Alex English and Karl Malone all-time.
because taking a shot over 3 people seems to be a better shot than passing to an open teammate
where you going at?
Kobe is a scorer, that stats showed it 61 points, 0 rebs, 3 asts, Lebron is a great all around player and probably the better player to build a team around, he had 52 points, 10 rebs and 11 asts.
How can you not count assists as points? That means he contributed points to his team's totals. They should have included their shooting % in the debate because that's important too
That's the thing, it was a switch not a three player trap. He has a slower player on him and can either easily blow by or force the foul. But no he doesn't seize the moment and instead defers.
I'll go with make the best decision the situation dictates.
