How I found the American Dream by leaving the USA, an expat's journey

  • In this video I share why I left the United States and why I will likely never return to living there. By moving to countries with lower costs of living, I was able to build my business and achieve my own version of the American Dream: being my own boss and have a fulfilling creative life.
I think the future of many office jobs is remote and digital, which grants the freedom to think outside the box and live anywhere. It's not as hard as you might think!

OMG - I can relate on everything you just said. I'm a 35yo, aussie, gay, guy who lives in Perth and i've never felt connected to my own country either. I've had this strong desire to move to mexico for years but thanks to covid that stopped all my plans. This video has reignited my desire to leave again so thank you so much! I have been to Bali so many times I know the street names. If i'm ever allowed back in i'd love to meet you mate :) Thanks again for your videos xx

Thank you Adrien ur video has really motivated and inspired me to get a move on with making positive changes in my life. You have achieved so much for such a young person. You really are living ur best life and this is really is ur time. Have wanted to move to Bali long time ago and after my mother passed away last year theres no reason not to experience living overseas. Besides Bali is just a short flight from Perth. So thank you for sharing. Btw that pool and fountain in the background looks insane. Hope you get better soon x

That was so smart not to sound like a victim and mentioned your childhood and being grateful your parents. I'm a senior and retired. I put in my 9 to 5 job behind 4 walls for 40 yrs! You are an inspiration to young people who are just starting to fulfill their dreams.

Oh and the unwell thing about Bali. Yeah i never get headaches from the rains here. Be sure not to play in the rain at all do not drive in rain. It gets ya sick even though its warm. The rains have many getms and that atmospheric pressure combined with the rain gives me headaches for sure. Go get Cream Bath Sweetie.

Thanks for your insights, and i couldnt agree more. I do also live in Bali for more than 4 years now. Back in my home country, Germany, creating dreams became a lot harder, living costs does not allow you to create some kind of financial freedom. Here in Bali or in any other developing country, It feels like going back in time in terms of your income and the opportunities that you still have.

Completely understand! Australia isn’t a cheap country, either! I just worry that too many foreigners will settle in Bali and ruin it!!

i think many who choose to live in Bali have been very respectful of the culture and people in Bali. It’s the tourists that can have a bad impact on the local environment, as well as the rich property developers. Donald Trump bought a beautiful resort near Tanah Lot only to leave it in desrepair, demolished the whole thing n left it overgrown and now the place is a breeding ground for snakes etc. Adrien did a vlog about respecting the local culture which was great but sadly apart from a few, , many vloggers never touch on the real beauty and soul of Bali, they only focus on stuff like the beach bars, the hip cafes and shopping, I mean these things are great but they don’t educate people on the rich culture of this unique island society.

Thanks for the information and your background. I feel that within the next couple of years I would really like to do the same. I had spent a lot of time in Bali and feel the place I would really like to live is Bali as well. Thanks.

would love to start making & selling clothes there, but thought there'd be visa issues. but they don't mind that you sell on amazon? please could give some info on that, whether i'd be able to create & manufacture clothes & sell them, would be interesting. thanks

My brand is neither manufactured nor sold in Indonesia. You need to have the proper visa to conduct business in Indonesia.

I lived in bali for 20 years winters doin whatcha do. And i think we are fashion revolutionaries who are helping these places find fair trade us to work with. Its a good thing we do. Contact me if you need taylors that are excelent and independently contracted. I dont live in Bali rite now because i think its soo boring. I cannot stand the canguu mentalities. Pretentiousness is such a bore. But doing business in other countries is allot of fun. Im 9ld school so you get all the perks like amazon i dont really do that digital thing so easily as your generation do. Cheers.

Even upper middle class can't make it in this crappy country 🙄 but I am glad people are finding happiness in other places.
