He is smooth I give him that...lol I love the cat/mouse game between these two. You can tell that he's really enjoying her antics. The way he looks at her is electrifying. He is so sweet. He knew she was faking when she was in his arms. She's horrible at pretending to be sleep. Her little moments gave her away. These two are so cute together. His little smirk/smile as he's covering her up is priceless. General Fu/Dongqing are cute together. She's been under his skin for a long time now. Hopefully their courtship will be drama free. Lingyi/Shiyi's dealt with enough drama already... General Fu/Dongqing don't need to add to it.
What's so sweet is he would never touch her until she was ready, but Shiyi, being so young and inexperienced didn't know this so, she was always waiting for the next shoe to drop. He found her enchanting especially after dealing with the rest of his 'wives'. Seven Tan has such a beautiful voice

He was intrigued by her from their previous encounters especially when they were on the docks... when she was trying to find a way to escape her marriage to that abusive bastard that Erniang married....even General Fu was impressed by her. The more he saw her in action...he couldn't help but fall in love with her...the way she took care of his son...and dealt with his mother's unfair treatment...as well as his concubines she was everything he wanted and needed. The best part is her presence in his life changed him. I loved it especially when he started to defy his mother to protect Shiyi.
@@shontelagrone8713 Absolutely, when Lingyi resorted to even lying to his mother with no shame in order to protect Shiyi, it was a done deal. I loved the episode where he broke the window in his court, in order to go stay with Shiyi, talk about nerves. Their chemistry was on point and they looked so natural together. I also believe, he loved the way she was with the children. Always protective and kind, regardless of not being appreciated and even to the point of being grounded for nonsense. I couldn't see Yuanniang, with all she loved Zuhn, tracking down the maid and running with the dog cage, the way Shiyi did.

He wasn't going to let his mother, Lianfang or his other concubines destroy his happiness. I knew once he fell in love...that he would start fighting for what he wanted...and he didn't disappoint. He went to the ends of the earth in order to protect her. When he broke the window...I couldn't stop laughing... Zhaoying was so confused but eventually he caught on. When Shily asked what happened...Lingyi jumped in because he didn't want Zhaoying to ruin his chance.. he has a history of busing him out...lol The chemistry was amazing...I loved it. Yes, he loved her..and the way she treated his boys. She also helped him to mend his relationship with his sons. If she hadn't stepped in..and advised him to spend more time with his sons...things wouldn't have changed. The boys would've grown up not knowing their own father. She changed his life...and the lives of the entire Xu family.

The love and care she showed, it was befitting that his mother finally realized what a gem she had in a daughter-in-law. To see his mother even dare to try and stop the execution made you realize how strong she was. Seeing the honor, bestowed by the Emperor, given to an illegitimate daughter of a concubine, as they liked to say, was the icing on the cake. Lingyi was so proud of her and seeing her acknowledge that it wouldn't have been possible without his love and support, was how I like to see dramas end. Too many end on a sad note, glad they didn't with this one.
