Just a ‘63 split window Corvette just chillin’ like it’s nothing.
Nothing to see here, move along everyone, sound system installation required lol
'Michigan
I wanna say she's a '64/5, but I may have missed a shot with the split. Bitchin either way!
If it's not an e36 they dont care
Vannarsdall Scale @2:59 pause it. Looks like a split window to me.
You can tell Kyle is from MI because down the street is about a 20 minute drive lol.
I think he said "next door" lol
If it were Montana that would be up to an hour and half
NW Iowa is the same way. Nothing but bean and corn fields.
That midwest life. Lol
Good thing about living in the country is how far you can travel in 20mins, city life you're stuck in traffic going nowhere.
8:00 I actually died. I watched the video of Gale going in on the duramax build 🤣
i died laughing when i saw that
Didn't take long for the Michigan mid west accent to come back.
Bro said down the street.... Drove back to Cali.
For us in the midwest, that is down the street ;)
You should see his drive to walmart from there lol
@@tiddiesprinkles it's a 4.5hr drive for my folks to hit up a Costco.
@@TheDolli310 region?
@@TheDolli310 The closest one for me says 6 hour 48 min drive on Google maps. More like 8 with traffic. Just one way.
I don't understand why this isn't "Hoonigan Project Cars material".
Because they used a "Dual audio" head unit lol
Just remember that the gain on the amp isn’t a volume control lol
Shhhh let em learn the hard way 😂
THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But when I turn it, things get louder...
Explain that Nikola Tesla
@@yeahitskimmel 🙈
yeahitskimmel Pretty sure you’re joking, but....... The gain control adjusts the amplifiers sensitivity to the input signal from the head unit so the lower the the input voltage is, the more you need to increase the gain to compensate for this. Going too far causes the amplifier to cut off the peak part of the waveform (clipping) causing violent direction changes in the speaker voicecoil which generates a lot of heat build up and can lead to that lovely burning smell and a dead sub. Clipping also puts excessive loads on the amps power supply which can burn out the fets and also draws more current from your battery and charging system, neither of which are ideal.
So that’s why you shouldn’t think of the gain pot as a volume knob👍🏻
The banks edit made me spit my coffee lol
That ziptied crossover will rattle hardcore with the bass
the Banks "holy Sh!t" clip killed me.
"We don't have the right tools"
proceeds to pull out a jig saw
Bumped into Kyle while I was out tooling around taking pictures. Super chill guy🤙and one of my favorites on this channel. Stoked that he and the Badastro will be a staple around here. Welcome back Kyle!
13:07 You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.
Lmfao
The fitment in those doors is 👌🏼
Choice craftsmanship
I love building systems. I learned from all my mistakes the first time around and became professional by the second install. I don't know much about competition setups but it wouldn't be hard to figure out.
Thats cool and all, but when are you going to drop a texas speed 427 in this eunuch?
....he'd basically have to get rid of his storage space in the back and fit the engine in there xD
Someone at hoonigan needs to talk to kyle and the importance of the 63 split window cause he just ignored it like it didn’t exist
Thank you. It was a split window and he didn't even stop for a second on it. He is broken for sure. Lol
I'm glad to see that you are keeping your skills sharp.
BRAVO!
15 years ago when I was in high-school one of my friends had a real nice custom pearl white dc4 integra with a 15" kicker solobarrick (square sub). That thing sounded amazing and pounded unlike anything I've ever heard before or since.
Love the van man! Sounds good!
There's this awesome invention called a splitter cord/cable/wire/s also known as a Y-cord RCA SPLITTER Y-CABLES and then you have more RCA output and or input Jack's!!!
We live, and we learn. :))
I wish I could actually listen to this awesome system!!! Great Job, Fella's!!
Pimp my ride is back!!! good job “Mad Mike”
You went with a great choice dude love it
That a LOT of "down the street"! :D Great video!
Wow Kyle put banks in his edit let's make some power
That Gale Banks clip got me. ☠️
Brings back memories of Daytona Spring Break Nats.... The shop I worked for had a few SPL and SQ monsters we built.
You guys have to build that stingray, especially since it’s a hard top
Nicely done! Smart going with a 5 ch amp.
@2:50 - This is "down the street" in MN as well :D
looooooool at the gail clip xD Anything kyle, im watching the content!
CONGRADS, you can Install Speakers now...🤘
Good morning 🌞 from 760 SD
I have the same radio in my car, it has great tuning capabilities and I love it
awsome!!!!!!! killin the game in that!!!!!!
I knew that was you! Me, my fiance and my son were driving through custer mi and seen your van at the intersection a few weeks back. I almost crashed my truck looking to see if it was you lmao.
Can't believe how well the kicker L7 series performed when they launched all those years ago. Wish I kept more of the items I farmed-out when we moved house. 😔
(points to crossover): "and that goes to this smaller amp"
Ahhh the smell of MDF hitting a table saw brings back memories...
Just plain cancer. Had to bore 3mm diameter and 2mm deep holes in MDF yesterday without a mask because of covid... just awfull. The whole shop still smells like burnt glue and wood.
kyles straight vibing
Guess you could call it.... the Basstro.
Lots of Astro vans in the DB competition world.
Let kyle be on project cars!
Yeah!
Kyles the best seriously!
MX-6 🙌 That was my first car too had a 2and gen first then later on bought a 1st gen MX-6 GT. I loved those cars, you should consider doing a MX-6 build. They are so unknown and underrated
That install in the front doors is rough as fuck 😂😂 love it
Idk if you will see this but try to get an inline fuse put on the power close to where its connected. Other thing is just optional just helps the speakers last little longer and less distortion to set the lpf on the amp or headhunt.
Reminds me of rewiring my Cavalier back when I had it to fix the sound system 3 times as parts from the Pimp My Ride era died in it.
They decided to put some cheapo one way door speakers in the car with non crossover tweeters and run them from an Alpine amp. Well, that blew one channel, so they wired the whole front set of speakers to one side of the amp, but left the RCA connectors in the same spot. The two 10s were run off a Rockford Fosgate amp that was still good.
Ended up tossing the 20 wpc Alpine POS and rewiring back to the 40 wpc Sony head unit, and running the sub out to the Rockford Fosgate.
Really fixed a lot of problems until I found out the deck speakers were original and blew them with Alive 2007...
Replaced those and blew the door speakers...
Ahhhhh car audio, how I love/hate thee.
Dude, Kyle... You didnt even pop out that dent in the mesh speaker cover... Come on, bro...
The gale banks meme had me cracking up 🤣
Dang it.. I was hoping to get the call for the install on the bad Astro!
Im curious if when a engine swap is a option, will you go diesel or just a stronger engine
A buick grand national turbo 3.8 v6 would be sick.
a 4 cylinder cummins with compound turbos. Nice and small, tons of power, screaming turbos; what's not to love?
It's a ASTRO VAN
A 4cyl out of a Frito lays truck will bolt up to the 4L60 easily. He could also get a mercury 4.3L boat motor head and eliminate the spider injectors which would give him the ability to add power. Stock 4.3L liter suck for power.
@@es4forty892 bro thats what i keep thinking. The Weight. All the weight he keeps adding. Power, gas mpg and now alt. Haha. Great reply A1
what to do next: have the speakers PROFESSIONALLY installed so they look good too lol
Its funny how small the magnets are on that subwoofer. My kicker L7 solo baric has three times the magnet
Well the L7 takes way more power that that MTX. Used to have a L7 12 on a skar lp-1000 and it was bumpin.
My first car was a Safari and you'd better believe it had 6 subwoofers in it.
Brings me back
Make sure the amp is set to low pass for the best quality of sound for the subs..... you can also turn up high frequency and low frequency to really slam
"my buddy lives down the street"
45 min drive*
you know Kyle going ham when the shirt suddenly comes off
You're going to need an upgraded alternator and you really should look into a drycell battery. I suggest downloading a free computer program called Winisd. It'll help you when building a sub box.
Turn the volume to 30 and adjust the gain on the amp until you hear distortion then back it off just a bit. Easiest way to tune without a SMD DD1.
unless your headunit max volume is 20, or 50, or 60... or who knows what. That is just horrible advice.
Kyle I'm within an hour of the pent. Tell me who I need to contact to get that split window fixed up
@3:00....HOLY ‘63 split window BATMAN!!
Party bus status. That system is sick.
That banks who ever he is reference is golden
That Gale Banks ad in saying "Holy Shit" had me dying.. Super funny
This is Midwestern as hell. No shirt, workin in a barn, holdin in the goodies with zip ties. As an Indiana boy, I love it!
Damn I want that split window corvette
Kyle showing some love to the midnight upload gang
Almost 4am here
Strongly recommend you purchasing the pioneer dmh1500nex. It is an awesome radio sub 300 and has carplay or Android auto which allows you to use Google maps which would be optimal for your long trips
More van work!!!!!
That Gale Banks clip 😂😂
I wanna see an in van camera battery charging bank, and maybe an air compressor for airing up. The van looks like it is coming along quite nice 👌
I appreciate Kyle and his friends because they build things like I do. Scotto and the others care too much. Kyle has true #aintcare mentality.
KEKEYYY!
Love the Gale "holy shit!" Haha
Let's see some big jumps
This belongs on the main channel. Kyle is Hoonigans unsung hero.
Dont foreget a fuse on the cord from the battery to the amp, As close to the battery as possible, 2-3 inches is enough. So you protect your stuff :)
Kyle is the Captain Caveman of Hoonigan. it's fantastic.
Hell ya bro its been a while I love what your doing to your van you've done so much to it I wish I had a van like this my wife will not go camping unless I do lol and good choice for you system it's not bad I'm wondering if you can say how much it all cost
Sorry for the Burns bro! You're learning and you're trying that's what counts
I wouldn't have mounted the amp to the subbox, and if you absolutely have to, caulk those holes to stop air from leaking. Run your power independently from the RCAs to stop noise. Tune the amp with a multimeter. It's pretty simple with a RUclips tutorial. It'll save you from blowing the speakers. Good shit man. Love the vids.
Just a couple quick tips, make your subwoofer face the back of the car and you wanna get the tweeters as close to people as possible
Kyle go to the interior shop and put wooden floor on that Badastro with some wood paneling on the door
So we’re gonna pass up the split window just like that???!!
You need to look into grabbing an alternator with enough amperes output to deal with your AC/Heat/System, etc. You are going to CRUSH that alternator.
Second battery time.
Kicker L7 : AM I A JOKE TO YOU?!
Right! I agree with you there! I had 2 15" L7s in the back of my s10 at one point. Probably 1 of the loudest systems I've hooked up and had the pleasure of owning. There's actually some videos of it on my channel if you wanna check em out. Was a clean install too. Had 2 Hifonic 2000 watt amps hooked up. 1 a piece, wired them to 2 ohms. Ported box. And a 300$ glass mat extra battery to keep the power from dropping. Actually got pulled over once for pounding as I passed by a couple police officers lol.
@@kerncod22 I had the 2 15s in the back of my extra cab Toyota mini. Lol it was good fun.
@@kevinaguilar8014 sounds likethe same setup pretty much lol
Now to do the big three upgrade and possibly get a h.o. alternator. It'll help with the voltage drop
They need need a lot more help than the big three upgrade
I'm going to thr Panwich kitchen this weekend if they're open lol
I know all the links are in the description.. but did anyone price out that whole kit?
My second car was a Mazda MX6!! I've never heard of anyone else having one! Hilarious :)
Man I really wish the Hoons would actually do some car audio research and get some decent quality equipment
Its hard to watch some of these youtubers do audio, tj hunt had a “full audio install” where he put in a radio in his supra..
sam cardinal bro I feel it. It’s like man, has anyone heard of a product you can’t get at Walmart??
Corvette is barn yard find. super nice.
Do you spend spend part of your year living in a costal city? Or are the boards on the roof of the van put use surfing on the Great Lakes?!
You could have purchased a blueprint for a box tuned specifically for what that sub would sound best in your van for like 20-30 bucks
Need more kyle time in the farm 👍
@8:00 this has me dead 😂💀 please use this more! Mr Banks makes me giggle
Baby system you gotta pump up your game
You should've brought the thunder van to Soundmanca and checked out his Chevy Astro bass van in progress.
my cousin has a bad ass system for completion in his astro van
I definitely thought someone was going to lose a finger with that wood cutting!
2am here in MO
