I notice in the backgrounds in these stages, notably Stage 1 boss, stages 2 and 7 (and the mid boss in Stage 3 on the mountains) they tell quite a story here: the scientists got too absorbed into their research and probably tried to play god, and the consequences was they all died by becoming part of their creation, or becoming food for them. Its crazy. These background things/bosses all have human faces.
I think this game has the best series of bosses in any game made and the music is one of the best catches you in the moment. I love super cyborg it really surpassed the contra even when it is made by only one guy.
It reassures me that at least you lost SOME lifes here ^^ though I have to say you're very humble by not mentioning this was hard mode! I needed several hours to beat normal mode... Congrats for finishing the final boss without the spread shot 👍🏻

The fact that an indie game like this can do a *way* better job at capturing Contra for pennies than Konami themselves could with their own brand on stuff like Rogue Corps is rather frustrating and depressing. Learn from what SEGA did for Sonic Mania and Origins. Hire the people who actually *care* about your games…
So, is there any vestige of a plot in this game beyond a basic "there are freakish monsters everywhere, kill them all with fire" scenario? Is the explosion of freakish monsters the result of an alien invasion? A bio-experiment gone horribly wrong and out of control? I know Contra games are not known for their plot depth, but I'd like to know the exact stakes here, if only out of sheer curiosity.

Most bosses are "easy" if you keep the spread shot. I found the second phase of the lvl 3 boss to be most annoying. The last phase of the lvl 6 boss requires perfect focus and reaction. And of course the final boss is hard af.
Looking at stage 1, I believe that I can see some possible minor influences of the original Contra on this title though I cannot dismiss the possibility that it may be entirely coincidence.
I like this game, but it's hard like fraking hell. It even harder than Contra. I can compare it to Dark Souls but from world of modern retro games. So yeah, i can't beat it until level 3 boss, and that is where i stop playing this game.
This game has a Charge Shot mechanic, does it not? I not get why you never charge up before certain enemies show up on screen... and blast them with a charge shot the moment they appear. I had a friend years ago, he would beat every single hard game on NES, Snes and Mega Drive. In fact he sought them out... because other games "bored" him... too easy and no challenge he would say. He would use charge shots in this game like there is no tomorrow. He would know exactly how to evade... and every time wasted by evading... every second where he could not shoot the boss... he would charge up a shot. Come to think of it, he was a beast.
Got to play this game when I was in high school from my uncle’s used pc. My uncle was actually an a-hole. He didn’t like to share his stuffs to anyone at all. He was forced by my grandma to give me his old pc because he had just bought a new one already. He deleted everything from his pc including his games before giving it to me. I still don’t know why he deleted those games because all of them were pirated anyway lol what was the point of deleting everything? Maybe because he didn’t like me? Somehow I got to recover the deleted game (including his collection of porn files lol) I can’t remember how I recovered the game but I did lol. Anyway I thought this was a clone of contra and I had fun with it a lot. This vid brings back good memories about this game.
