Exactly this. Players tried to trigger the anti cheat software and then cried when they got banned.
I've typed it before and I'll typed it again. The players in this game are 70% of the problem. They don't want to play what this game is and want to ruin it for the players that do.
The new Dev's need to stop pandering to the cry babies. If they can't hack it then let them quit. Simple. You don't see Eve Online making their game any easier for the newbs.

the point was that the parameters they used to ban cheaters were achievable by a human player, how is the issue here not obvious? all they were asked to do was to increase the parameters outside of what a human player can realistically do. its not like they farmed 30 afk players with a liberator bomb they were in live fights on the server. is it such a hard thing to tell the difference between a good player with great stats from farming a zerg and a cheater with a 800-1 KD in 1 hour. this issue could entirely be fixed by 1 admin during primetime of miller and emerald pressing delete

I dont know man, I'm not against hacking itself. It could be a great hobby to see how you can exploit games... The issue comes when you use it to get an advantage over the normal player. HvH should be a thing in every game as a containment measure

I think statistics is one of the most under-utilized tools, period. 99.7% of people are within 3 standard deviations of the mean, if we ignore the bottom, we have 99.85% of players who will never see the light of a statistics based system and yet, a large chunk of blatant cheaters will immediately go away. Also, I don't think flying sunderers are too hard to catch with basic checks either.
Additional selling point for the security consious, this can all be done without additional software being installed on your computer. Rootkit free!

I think they should bring back the stats banning but have an appeal system with it, I also think they should keep battle-eye for the hardware and software cheats because it is definitely still a very useful thing, having layers of anti-cheat, in this case, is the best in my opinion, it also wouldn't be a bad idea to start hardware ID based bans so that this way cheaters can't just make a new account after every ban and they would haft to go through some more steps, it's not perfect but it will stop a good bulk of the cheaters. I mean a third option is to do some kernel-based anti-cheat while I am not a fan of this for security and privacy reasons, it can usually be very strong at stopping cheats that modify the running memory of the game or anti-cheat but it also not perfect and people can still bypass it in some cases.
Another thing that could be added that to some may be a deterrent but would also slow the cheater problem would be verification through phone numbers for accounts. but people dont useually like this one.

  • @TronixA
    @TronixA 2 месяца назад +2

The issue with all the cheaters being able to headshot with carbines from impossible distances while running high up in the air with complete impunity was the biggest reason I stopped playing Planetside 2. Reporting didn't get them kicked from the server immediately as you stated and it made the game less fun. There were also issues with invulnerable players who wouldn't die. The squad had to go to a completely different location to get away from the player because he couldn't be dealt with. I welcome them bringing back a stat-based system to get the cheaters. If you're that good at getting those high k/d rations while constantly putting in headshots without cheating, the PS2 devs can create a system where the few pro players are whitelisted. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole dolphingate 1.0 issue was being stirred up by cheaters who were heavily affected by the stat-based system so they tried to make it seem like it was hurting normal players. Those are the same people who will swear on their mother's grave that PS2 doesn't have any cheaters and it's just lag or glitches.

Out of all the times they didnt listen to the playerbase, they somehow managed to listen to them at the one time they really shouldnt have. And now they could probably implement it, but choose not to....

Jokes aside... yeah, I think it'd be a good idea to bring the "Dolphingate" system back. It might suck for the turbosweats to occasionally hit a false positive and be suspended for a bit, but it would be a distinct improvement over the current situation. I also think having GMs in-game would be a lot better.

The only kind of hacking that is game breaking to me is the flying Sundy/turret driver. He kills vehicles, which kill fights. Once there was a max under the ground wall hacking but we killed it somehow. The Sundy dude had 600 kills and no deaths in one hour, so stats based he'd actually have to take a break to get some food and let his KPH cool off

5:12 yeah, i had one of those too, Befor they added kill cam, i could literally get a 700 kill streak with in a 4 hour game play of just playing sniper from a treetop or a mountain top near a full pop base between NC and VS, giving me as a TR main the option to shoot at 2 different Frontlines with out ever being detected, because you can not see where the shooter is sitting. Cyrious very concisely nails this issue when he details how the tools exist to if not solve the problem, to at least mitigate it drastically. In truth, this is not as complex or difficult an issue as it is being made out to be, and this is the real source of my annoyance, frustration and anger with the devs and why I have cancelled my membership. They are not taking this issue seriously - their communications and actions on it have been, frankly, deplorable, and show no indication of urgency whatsoever. This is a mistake, and a disservice to this precious game and it's players.

    • @TheHuffur
      @TheHuffur 2 месяца назад +1

Personally I think this more or less goes for anything and everything with this game its been criminally mismanaged almost from start to finish. It could have, or should have, been much more than it ended up as.
Extremely frustrating having been there from the start and see the higher ups play musical chairs with it and the devs, never giving it a chance to advance. PS2 is a massive mountain of band-aid fixes and changes because it never really had the team and time to do anything else before it was time to go waste time on H1Z1, Neverquest, PS Are-you-for-real Arena etc and swap out to a brand new dev team.
The fact that the game is still alive despite all the abuse it has been through is proof of how god damn amazing of a concept and foundation it was and it feels like it was pissed away(and still is) for no reason.

  • @shrimp720

Problem I have is that a lot of these hackers aren't statistically ground breaking. A cheater in my stream (who is still in the cheat discord) went through the pack people are using and what it can do. You can change weapon fire rate, hitbox size, ESP, Aimlock etc etc. I made a comment to someone I was fighting on stream because it looked like he was stream sniping. Nope, he was using an ESP. The viewer who was in the discord just looked at the player name and checked the discord members.
It was very depressing to see just how many people are using this cheat pack and what it can do. Statistically, I look WAY dodgier than any of these cheaters. I have 40%+ accuracy and 70%+ on my LMGs and I can BARELY compete with these guys. I struggle to manage a 2kd now on live but still manage 150KPH.
Obviously the flying sundies are another group which we can target quite easily with stats. But having had a glimpse at just how deep the rabbit hole goes, it's very depressing. If you starting to do down it. Whenever I get blasted, I don't want to think the reason is because the other guy is cheating. It's not a healthy mindset to have, but my god we're in a bad spot right now.
If you want to go over any of this Cyrious I'd be more than happy to share my side of the story some time. It seems the problem is mostly concentrated in EU but I'm sure there is some bleed over.

I realize the hitbox cheat, and other subtle hacks, is a problem. I don't know how rampant it is, but I know its a really high percentage of the number 1 complaints of the people that quit the game. I don't have a good solution for that one so I tend to stay away from that discussion. It rapidly devolves into people that run 20KPH accusing everyone that runs 100KPH of hacking.
I feel like the difficulty and their inability to stop hit box mods and other subtle hackers, should not stop them from taking down the big blatant ones.
I would love to chat about it because I am not up to speed on the sublte hacking at all - but I hear complaints from a lot of viewers about it.
Jumping back to a stat gated system though - The system threshold I tossed around is 480 KPH. You are going to be in the tippy top of players running a 150KPH. There is definitely a threshold we can set well above that to stop these flying sunderer guys. Stopping the people that aren't crashing through that barrier I am wide open to ideas though. Lets catchup on discord.

I got back into PS2 a little over 6 months ago after taking a break for a year- had to switch to Emerald because Connery is a ghost town whenever I'm on, for the past few weeks since the sunderer update happened there's been flying sunderers every time I've got on and it's killing my enjoyment- I already switched to doing loan wolf secessions because all the TR platoons in Emerald want to do is talk about dumbass conspiracy theories and rightwing politics and I'm sick of getting my ass kicked because my platoon leader would rather go on a brain dead tirade about how Hitler wasn't actually a bad guy and that mixing races should be illegal instead of sending reinforcements to the Bio lab I'm trying to defend when it's 5 to 1 against me and we got 5 minutes till the alert ends where we could win if we held it, but try and suggest any sort of tactics or try to focus the platoon on the actual game instead of politics and they get all butthurt and defensive because this is the only time where people are forced to listen to the brain rot they spew from their mouths.
The hackers that have crawled their way out of the cesspool that they spawned from have been the straw that broke the camels back for me and now I'm seriously considering just retiring for good this time- Planetside 2 just isn't fun for me anymore, I can't play with people and now with so many hackers destroying any good fight I can't play by myself anymore without a sunderer flying across the map, blowing up my sunderer and shooting me through a wall while I'm cloaked.

Devs review then permaban when they can. If they abuse the system, after 3 strikes they lose their account. I spoke to the community MODS, I went to EAC through their website to get them to give me the reason for the ban and contest it, and I also had no success. Here comes the best part: I have and on Steam and I've played several Steam games that use EAC and I've never been banned. My Steam has also never been VAC'd and my K/D on BBR is average, in other words, the program clearly caught something that isn't a cheat and banned me unfairly. In my opinion, this system of banning for high K/D in Planetside 2 would go very wrong, especially because there are very good FPS players in general who play Planetside 2, which is an elitist game since it requires a PC and an above-average internet connection to have a satisfactory experience.

Let's keep in mind the other annoying issues, flying sunderers and lightnings, flying infantry (That aren't light assaults) and people shooting through walls are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to cheating or hacking in this game. The obvious hackers like them yeah there shouldn't be an hour long or more response time for them and that is where in-game mods would be very helpful especially right now. The lesser known cheating in this game that seems to be overlooked is stuff like speed hacks making people run at the speed of a flash or get sudden speed boosts in vehicles, and notorously these aimbot users some how able to like headshot players from insane distances with carbines or somehow able to turn and shoot somebody right in the head that was shooting them in the back and kill them, or headshot somebody with a tank from a long dstance, or seeing players through walls and floors. Skill is sometimes looking like cheating to casual players perhaps but as a vet I can verify when it's suspicious, these types of incidents are the ones that could be problematic and like you mentioned in the vid innocent players getting spammed reported by a platoon but again better an occasional innocent player getting a temp ban than a hacker that's completely ruining the game and making players ragequit running rampant with no consequences. Gaming just like real life has no perfect justice system, innocent people sometimes get in trouble because of those guilty running amongst the innocent.

cheaters can intentionally spam dying to lower their KDR and not be detected. they do it in tarkov.

The ratio doesnt matter in PS2. Only the amout.

That won't help them. If they get 600 kills in an hour, they have 10 kpm (kills per minute). If they die 600 times after that, 600 kills and 600 deaths make a 1 kdr. But they still have the kills per minute recorded.

The anti cheat that is referred to in Dolphin gate was based on head shot ratio not KDR.

just auto ban anyone have kda higher than 20, maybe 50 for safety, no normal player can reach that kda and if they try to get that just to talk shit about auto ban systerm, they deserve to ban

They know how they are hacking so why dont they have sofware that detects the hacks they are using? ie wall hacks, aim bot etc? and blocks them from playing? in PS1 hacking became an issues in the 7th or 8th year and from what i understood was due to a reduction in the team monitoring the servers.

Can people like stop calling them "hackers"? they're script kiddies, that have never seen any code before... jeez

Have you been to the forum posted in the video? See what's posted? It's genuine code. It's people who've spent hours and hours reverse and coming up with solutions. I think it's important to note this, because this is why anti-cheats currently are failing across most games, if not all.
A complete misunderstanding of the capabilities of the people they are trying to stop. These people are able to spend hours upon hours upon hours of their time, learning deobfuscation and devirtualization techniques to get around techniques to prevent static reversing, creating hyprevisors to run windows in a vm JUST so they can dynamically reverse anticheats and see what they do in real time. We are no longer dealing with random, cheat engine users.
There's a reason valorant's anticheat had ot be so invasive to have a chance at just being on a even playing field. And it STILL was not enough. The day valorant came out, on that very forum shown in the video, these people had got together are were reversing vanguard, inside and out, took them about a day or two to crack it.

Why not just force accounts to confirm once with a phone number. No confirmation no play. Then when someone hacks you ban that phone number.

@@CMDRCyrious I forget what it was, but few years ago I know that some app wouldnt allow me to sign up with a number I got from a random phone app. So I would wager that they could by default block throw away numbers like those associated with services like a tracphone sim.

@@JustaSpaceLizard Eh the blocklists for those services are spotty at best, it would definitely help to some degree, sure, but only against people with low effort and less than 2$ in their bank account, since throwaway voip numbers can go for pennies(or free but most of those are on some list) just to receive one message. And with services with WhatsApp or Google Voice, you can't guarantee those numbers are illegitimate, particularly when you service non-North American residents, where those services have a more significant legitimate use case.
