When I die, like Paul stated, I will be with the Lord. Be it Heaven or Paradise. And unlike the problem that Plato presented, a non physical realm, it will be quite physical, indeed. Raising my visible arms in praise to our Lord God.
But can I do what I feel is what Go has called me to do in my part of a career helping His suffering people here and yet still look forward to life I have in Heaven?
What about John 14:2 “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” King James Version (KJV)
The “western theology” that Wright so often criticizes is backed by centuries of faithful theologians and loads of scripture in context, while Wright provides no scripture to back his “new” perspectives…
IDK man. He's talking about what's in the Bible. Nobody in the Bible dies and goes to heaven. Heaven DOES come to earth in Revelation 21. Seems like he's on firmer theological footing than most American Christians.
I listen to N.T. Quite a bit...I guess I’m not smart enough to always understand him. In this lecture, I felt overwhelmed by wordiness, and thought I heard some contradictions....I like his simplest lectures best
What about; Revelation 21:1-3 King James Version 21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
You're cherry-picking one verse from scripture (and from a highly symbolic book), rather than considering the entire arc of scripture, especially with what Jesus taught, specifically the Sermon on the Mount. The Sermon on the Mount is not about escapism. It's about what it looks like when God's Kingdom comes on Earth as in Heaven.
@@markymark4027 Thank you for your reply. You've provided your opinionated perspective, but no bible verses to make your point. The scripture I provided (Revelations 21:1-3 stands on its own merit as the revealed word of our Lord and Savior Jesus.
@@baruch4401 Cherry-picking a single verse from scripture doesn't stand as anything. Even scripture calls Jesus the Word of God. So if anything is going to stand on its own, it's all of Jesus' teachings. If you're not studying Jesus' teachings, what's the point?
Nah that's a good question, it's good. IDK the answer personally, but it does kind of avoid the question, doesn't it? About not going to heaven when we die and the Revelation ending with heaven and earth together in another garden. I'll take a crack at it though. The heaven and earth that are separate are gone and the new ones are new because they overlap in a way they didn't before?

So, no education eh?
N.T. Wright is a gift to the Body of Christ, the Christian Church.

I'm hearing unbalanced stereo... left speaker only. Can this be corrected?
tim schumacher same here. Thought it was my hearing. lol
'For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ'. Philippians 3:20.

No closed captioning. Pity.
Where are parts 2 and 3, as he mentions in the lecture?

No more sea refers to no more chaos...do a word study...back to Genesis
