Prince Eric is a proactive Dragon Fire. See him like an item, something you can play early and gain tempo. Your opponents will try to play around Eric. That is one scenario. The other scenario is to keep Eric in your hand as a reactive play. So he has options.
I'm on record hating Emerald's color identity being 'uninkable cards' but I think Lyle looks better than you're giving him credit for, provided people are still jamming hyper-aggro options like Maleficent BHT and Pinocchio SA. Whether or not there's a competitive Emerald deck for him to begin with is currently up in the air, but I do like that they're printing dedicated anti-aggro cards that aren't just new sweepers.
The Talisman will be more valuable and better for you than trying to use Queen. Item removal is far less than character removal. The Talisman will stick around a lot longer.
