Nice man, I'm heading out there bringing my travel rod. I'll be sure to bring a couple of Krock spoons and some swimbaits to see what bites.

Typically, I pack too much. With family and/or wife along, your fishing time will be limited. The area you are fishing has lots of patch reefs. You will see the same grouper/snapper opportunity there that I did and sometimes jacks and mackerel. Throw krocadile spoons in 1oz and 1.5 oz. I found they liked the sardine green best. I would also throw small stick baits like a Rapala X-Rap in a baitfish color and have a topwater lure or two on hand. I wouldn't bring a pile of gear. A 5000 series saltwater spinning reel with a nice travel rod rated for 12-20lb to 15-30 lb will do well. Add a small backpack with a spool of fluorocarbon leader, pliers for hook removal, and about 7-10 lures and a few bottles of water and walk the beach and find the area that the fish are working bait. Try to figure out tides when you get there. Then plan your fishing with the best tide and time of day so you aren't around swimmers. Good luck Brad. Report back how you do!
