Mega Man: Fully Charged is honestly the most bizarre thing I've seen from the Mega Man series, even more bizarre than Mega Man on DOS and Mega Man Soccer. This doesn't feel like Mega Man in the slightest. The only thing that tells you that this is Mega Man (Besides the name) is the name of the characters. I would love to have a Mega Man cartoon or anime based on the actual Classic games and the X games and not something that is very loosely based on the game. It's a shame that this show ended up like this honestly, a Mega Man cartoon has so much potential, but the people working on it got lazy, which is quite saddening as a huge fan of the series.
@@warhammernerd52Daxx-Lorenzo898 Yeah, despite how cheesy the 90s cartoon was, it was pretty charming in my opinion, it has that Super Mario Bros. Super Show vibe where it's really cheesy but in a good way. Also, I think the 90s cartoon looks really good, much better than this show (Which isn't that fair since this show is CG while the 90s cartoon was 2D)
To be fair, the Super Mario Bros. Super Show was meant to be cheesy and over-the-top, the games are the same, Mega Man's cartoon and that's where the greatness lies (and the memes) Mega Man started out minimalist, and got more developed over the series, Super Mario also started out the same and developed identically, and the 90's cartoons both embraced the spirit of those franchises quite well
@KumatoraBestGirl Well, I know I am more invested in the new show than you are, but to me it fits right in. It sort of feels like something between the classic games and the X games. Like, if X is a distant future timeline, then Fully Charged is more like an alternate universe sort of thing. When you really focus on the original source material (which also requires a really nerdy level of investment, like... the kind of crazy nerd like me who not only owns the huge anniversary book but actually sits down and reads it) this cartoon is actually surprisingly faithful to the original concepts, as well as some of the more common fan reactions to those concepts. For instance, our two "alternate universe versions" of Rock and Roll in Fully Charged seem to represent all the fan thoughts about the differences between Rock being a robot or human (every 80s kid who played the originals has had these thoughts) in a very thoughtful and unique way. I have also heard people who are more familiar with the Battle Network (and similar) series pointing out how this show seems like a new attempt at doing what Battle Network did with the source material, while staying way closer to that source material. When I think of it this way, the new show really makes sense. I mean, when I first tried to get into Battle Network when it was new, I had the same thoughts you are describing, about how it's just so far "out there" from the stories I was used to, way more than just "now everyone is playing soccer" or something. "Now everyone is a human, but they're also little internet people instead of robots, and the humans are just like the Robot Master personalities as kids, with the little internet people standing in for their... robot-ness? Okay, that's new and different, and I bet it plays great, just like Mega Man... as.. an... RPG?"
I'm not really sure what the idea with this show even is. Is it supposed to introduce younger kids to Mega Man? Because making Rock into Aki, replacing Roll with Suna, and making Wily his best friend are...really weird ways to do that. How does Light not know he's Mega Man, or that Mega Mini exists? Even weirder is that Robot Masters don't seem to have a real reason to exist. In the original series, most of them were industrial/utility robots, which made sense. Cut Man goes from a lumber robot to a nerd with a bowl cut who's obsessed with gardening. I mean, sure? It makes no sense. Why do robots even exist and who made them? Are they fully sentient, or pseudo-self-aware like in Classic? Argh.

I was going to say that same thing- I have no idea why they didn’t call it a “flying disc”, which is what they’re usually called. I’ve heard them called “flying saucers” sometimes, but I have never once heard one described as a “fly puck”, or any sort of puck for that matter.
So it sounds like Capcom hired some cheap studio and we're getting cheap animation and cheap writing. But hey at least someone on the team took 5 minutes to look up Megaman memes.
@Real Renaissance Man About the whole "moral" thing you keep referring to.... I understand what you are saying but, to me, the instances you point out can be a part of the show's more subtle virtues; at least the instances regarding hypnosis, anyway? I mean, it's already dealing with more nuanced ideas than any other children's program I've seen. The easiest way I can illustrate what I keep seeing in this show is, like... imagine if the new Inspector Gadget started having little moments where Penny and Gadget have to deal with the very possible future realities of a human becoming a cyborg; but the show managed to pull it off in ways that even a four year old could relate to. And it's not just the tech related philosophy, the way this show addresses the concept of war is great, too. It's like a more nuanced version of that old cartoon with the animals dealing with the aftermath of an apocalyptic World War I. (consider Wood Man, the school principal, etc). Anyways, when I look at the "moral" situations that you have legitimate criticisms toward, I see a subtler "things aren't always so black and white" moral that really works on a child's level. The idea of "gray areas" is presented in a way that sort of goes straight to the subconscious. It's presented in the midst of the action and the colorful and engaging contexts of the show, in a way that adults like us only see because we're really paying attention, whereas children sort of soak it up straight into the subconscious, then they go to sleep, and their brains do what all of our brains do when we sleep. I wouldn't exactly call this "subliminal" even, but at the same time I know some people, maybe even you, would find this situation questionable if I am correct about it. Again, though, imagine if Inspector Gadget just had this small moment where Gadget is like, "You know, Penny, it's complicated, being a cyborg," all smiles and goofy eyes right after one of his objectively hilarious slapstick moments, and Penny just gives this sober nod while we see text on her computer about cyborgs. That wouldn't exactly be subliminal, but it would certainly stick in the back of the minds of almost every single person in every age group watching the show. I guess this is why I put the Wood Man episode as one of the best episodes of anything I've ever seen. Just imagine how many younger people might share that episode with the veteran adults in their lives. Well, anyway, if you managed to read all of that, thanks! ;D
Yeah man, I'm really glad to see you are still making videos like this. Barely anyone is talking about this show and I'm glad you covered it because I didn't feel like finishing it after about 7 episodes. Now I'm glad I didn't waste my time.
