Some people can't even drive a car and talk on the phone. The concentration for all of them to perform this accurately and in synchronization is amazing.

What incredible precision! Also, I think that skirts always really enhance the movements of the women.

O povo havaiano possui um DOM especial para coletivizar, principalnente através da dança!
    Mitologia forte,povo forte!
SABEM COMO POUCOS O VALOR DA UNIÃO,TODOS SE TORNAM UM SÓ EM AÇÃO!

I'm Micronesian. We do have a similar stick dance such as this one (Pohnpeian). Gee how could they still be in unison for such a long time. Terrifically amazing.

Because the culture puts a lot of value and emphasis on cooperation and working together instead of rugged individualism.

Thank you so much for uploading this. Really.
I watch this dance, since I found it, in my dance research, YEARS AGO, and I was so so SO SAD when the original was deleted from youtube !
This is a true piece of art ! I will sing it along many decades more !!!
This was my favorite youtube video from all time !!!
I was proud to share it in all my dance class, to talk about unity !
thank you ! May this go forever ! Love from France !

@@lordmoo1 sometimes if you have the link you can still find it. I just got surprised by one I thought was gone. Didn't show up in search, but I happened to find an old email I sent to someone and the link still works! Otherwise, good idea to download ones that really touch you.
      Happy hula hunting! 🤙

I guess the Merrie Monarch themselves started petitioning to have all their videos pulled awhile ago for copyright infringement which is a shame for us on the mainland who love to watch this...

All the Merrie Monarch videos were deleted, which is so annoying. Clearly people want to see them, so I don't understand why MM doesn't create a channel and upload the videos themselves

This is a group of hula studens called a Halau, this one is the Halau O Kamuela. This is at a hula competion which happens every year the week after Easter Sunday. It's called the Merrie Monarch Hula Competition. Look up Hula Halau of Kamuela, and you will see many performances by this group, even their children or Keiki competiton.
