edit: healthcare is expensive. people arent having seizures every time they leave the house. not going to work is expensive. shuttles arent available on every inch of the world. stop being scared of people youve always been around, people who have these conditions go through extensive screening to be able to drive. stop being weird about it, they are people too.

Other times they’re sudden and sever. The meds she’s on don’t necessarily always have the desired effect. This system would be a great help in her situation where she NEEDS to drive her kids to school and back daily as well as to work and so forth. If the system is as I am understanding it here linked to emergency services and such they could then respond if needs be. Also this would help those drivers with heart issues as well.

I had this on my Skoda Octavia (VW group of companies in case someone hasn't heard of Skoda). The only time it is over-protective is on long, straight roads. A message would appear on the dash telling me that no steering input had been detected. I was driving on the M1 motorway in Hungary between Vienna and Budapest. Check on Google maps, it's long and straight. I was towing a trailer, using cruise control and lane assistance when that message would pop up. Great safety feature.

I had cruise control active while driving 140km/h on a german highway. I didn't pass out completly, but experienced micro sleep several times. Then, in one of these my friend had to take hands on the steering wheel because I wasn't awake... he saved our both lives in that moment because he couldv'e been sleeping or microsleeping at least as well.
