I knew that, what Tim and the Spurs were doing was special, but I only fully realized just how special it was when I got older. 2014 was the cherry on top and more than anyone could ever have asked for. The Spurs had been written off by 2010 but nah, they just kept pounding that rock and came back. Thank you Tim for all the memories, forever my idol.
The amount of times I thought Tim would break down in tears had me on an emotional roller coaster. What a beautiful man
Tim Duncan! My favorite player of all time! Thank you so much for those 5 championship 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 you brought to San Antonio Texas. Greatest PF of all time. Go Spurs Go!
This if not the best is one of the best, most concise most flowing and appropriate acceptance speech I've ever heard
Moving emotionally. Things happened for a reason, Timmy is a player who lifted spirits of San Antonio beyond it's dreams, a poor little City, and a NBA Star with a relatable humble character and amazing work ethics and God given talents.
What and amazing story
about this island boy's life,
before and after basketball
A true legend and human being
TIM DUNCAN MATTERS PEOPLE
PEACE&LOVE
5 time champ. 2 time mvp. In a era full of basketball ICONS!! A true legend of the game.
Hope to see him coach someday.
Imagine Tim just learned to play the game later at age of 14... Some kids been going to basketball clinic since 6 yrs old... This guy is purely gifted 😯
Yeah and before that he was an elite swimmer, crazy athlete
Swimming is what helped extend the miles on his knees. He started swimming again to workout and definitely saw his body change and the knees held up
@@rainman3216 but he was never a scorer his game was just effort and out hustling people

You can't just average 20+ points in the league for 8 straight years and say you're not a great scorer
Tim Duncan was great at everything in the game
Let it be offensively or defensively
Anyway, you can see how easy this game is. If you have some good height and know how to move your body and you are willing to work hard. That won't never happen at soccer, Rugby or ice hockey for example.
This man is the best at his position and isnt even talked about as much compared to other greats. Well done Tim 🙏💯
It's really sad actually.
I never realized Tim's mom and Dad actually passed away before he actually tore up the league.
It must've been so hard for Tim not having his parents at his side in his best moments (2002 MVP, 2003 MVP, 2003 FMVP, 2005 FMVP, 2007 and 2014 Champion).
My respect for Tim grew immensely even after this speech, and I'm one of the few people that love Tim more than Kobe.
The most humble man in all of basketball. You deserve to be where you are today.
Tim Duncan is the nicest and the most thankful person I’ve ever seen
The most underrated player of all time and we all acknowledge he is clearly the greatest PF ever. People just either forget or don’t know how fantastic he was. I still think he had a season or two in him. Just amazing.
Nah he aint underrated. Whenever u mention PF, Timmy always comes 1st to mind.
Underrated? How? Because people don’t include him in the GOAT conversation that is dominated by LeBron and MJ? That’s because he’s not.
BUT: First Ballot Hall of Fame, Generally considered the top PF of all time, multiple finals AND regular season MVPs, and he was selected #1 overall in the draft.
I don’t get the ‘underrated’ bit.
Now, if you want to talk about how ‘overrated’ Greg Popovich is, then I’m all ears.
You do realize you're calling him underrated on his HALL OF FAME INDUCTION SPEECH video?
Top 5 all time without a doubt, he's wildly underrated
Underrated? Cmon now
Look at Tim Duncan man, so inspirational. #GOAT 🐐
The guy hated the spot light but was the greatest PF of all time
I respect the fact that he's so humble and reserved, but man, I just love listening to him talk. He has the kind of voice I could listen to read books on tape.
Greatest PF ever 🙏🙏 I was 3 when he got drafted, literally grew up watching him. He means so much to us in San Antonio, absolute legend🙏
Tim is a great dude and great player. Glad to have watched him go to legendary playoff battles
Tim Duncan is the perfect example that you don’t have to have the “Michael Jordan intense gameplay face herp derp” to be competitive
You don’t win 5 title without being competitive
You don’t contend for a title for almost 19 years without being competitive
Hell no you don't need that. I watched the spurs for years and you could tell how amazingly competitive Pop, Tim, Manu and Tony were. You're right this man was tough tough. Just quiet 🤷🏽♂️
original kawhi temperament, maybe it’s a spurs thing
Yes he is an anti jordan..
@@republikadugave420 the difference is narcissism
His Spurs starting winning championships AFTER MJ and the Bulls dynasty was gone okay so do not get it twisted. He is no Michael Jordan my a long shot !
Greatest PF of all-time! The Big Fundamental. I'm a Lakers fan, yet I love and respect Tim Duncan.
I was never a Spurs fan, but you have to respect this man. Not only is he an all time great, the man is also very well spoken. Congrats!
The greatest PF in NBA history. Congrats to Tim Duncan and the rest of the 2020 HOF class.
My favorite player of all time...Greatest Spur of All Time...Greatest player of my generation...
Tim Duncan HOFer 😭

Funny that your avatar/profile photo is The Atlanta Braves and Tim Duncan is your favorite player. The Atlanta Braves & San Antonio Spurs are my two favorite teams since about 1986.
@@joshuamasserant8215 that's cus its MLB season still
Tim Duncan is great player and amazing man. The only bad thing he did during his career was he got a technical for smiling at the ref.
Timmy is the reason why I fell in love in basketball
Until his biggest moment, he's still able to make it not about himself. Kudos to you TD!👏👏👏❤❤❤
Thank you for speaking as a conversationalist and not reading a speech. He shows alot of humility and emotion. He honestly shows alot of gratitude to alot of people. Thanks utube.
One of the most humble and greatest NBA players ever
Two words: class personified.
Tim Duncan best PF of all time!!!!!!
He played Center most of the time!!!
Say it again for the kids in the back!
@@rednaxelahcitorfaznebo2830 mostly in the last few years. Up until 2013/2014 he was at the 4.
The Big Fundamental. Always admired how he never ever let emotions get into him. What a legend.
Except that time he got ejected for laughing at the reff.. hahahaha
I can watch him talk for centuries and not be bored. Love you TD
The greatest 4-5 ever!!!! Greatest backboard shot too!!!!
Kobe up there with the bank shot 2
Greatest PF for sure but there were better centers

Hi 👋 how're you?
R.C. Bufford crying in the background made me tear.
I love the Pop-Timmy connection so much. The maturity and love these two have for each other is absolutely beautiful. It’s a big reason why I’m a Spurs fan.
The Best Power Forward in NBA history. Beautiful speech, much respect!
Wow.
Shout out to Alonzo Morning..
Man Literally hooked Him Up..
That was An amazing story.. 👍🏿👍🏿
Chris King (played for the Grizzlies for a few seasons) deserves a shoutout too! He was the 'Wake Forest Alum' that Duncan was referring to in this speech.
@@admanalang3129 ... Good info.. 👍🏿👍🏿
I thought Randolph Childress would have had a Good NBA career..
I wonder if that Chris King, was the import of Ginebra when they had the championship back in the 90’s? lol. Maybe just the same name.
Had no Ideal that Alonzo played a big role in his life, never really cared for alonzo until now, it just goes to show how big the NBA family is, and what goes on behind the scenes as fans we never know.

Tim Duncan is always one of my favorite players. He is very humble. I can tell how much he loves his family. When he talked about this mom, his voice was shaken. When he talked to his kids, he tried not to cry.
What a big 3. What chemistry. Can't wait for Manu and Tony's HOF speeches.

Tim is one of the most inspirational athletes ever. He never forgot his roots and the people close to him. His mother, father, The Islands, Pop. He held them close, even in immense fame, and they motivated him for his entire career. Even afterwards, he’s still doing things in their name. Always had his “why.” And that is a key to, not just success, but happiness.
when he talks bout pop, the tears just came out uncontrollably
It’s a really weird sight to see Tim Duncan showing emotions and rocking dreads
I know he really hate to be there having to do the speak.

I was never a Spurs fan probably because they beat the Knicks in 1999. With that said, Tim Duncan is the true definition of greatness. I'm proud of him.
Nothing but respect for TD, my beloved Lakers best West rival...for his on court humility, teamwork and dominance. His foundational skills were unrivaled. Greatest PF in league history, no doubt.
Thank you Tim for leading a team that represented our city so well, for so long. You guys were an example of how to do things the right way and role models for how to conduct yourselves when there was a task at hand. Thank you for the memories and celebrations. San Antonio is forever in your debt.
