Pretty sure the LG isn't a hitscan weapon. When I started with it I found that I had to lead moving targets slightly, but it took a very short time for this to become a natural thing to do.
I'd like to note that you didn't mention the use of mouse acceleration. In reality, that's what most of the pros use and it allows for fairly low sensitivity yet also twitchy 360 movements.
mouse accel has nothing to do with dodging. further, i disagree that it's beneficial at all. what are the benefits of "fairly low sensitivity" in a fast paced game like QL? and if you ever need to do 360 turns, you need to learn to use sound, because the most you should plan for is 180. a sens which is too high (or when you have accel - same reasoning) leads to much greater variance when you flick, as all humans under flick and over flick. turning off accel leads to better muscle memory too. anyway, both sides of the question are subjective - people should play with whatever they're comfortable. i dont use accel nor do i recommend it, and regardless, it won't affect dodging.
" mouse accel has nothing to do with dodging." -For sure, you are correct about that. However, when the speaker in the video starts talking about how people in general aim (and thus going into the logic of dodging them), he mentions low and high sensitivities. That's what my comment was addressing. " what are the benefits of 'fairly low sensitivity' in a fast paced game like QL?" -For one, it allows fine movement for those longer distance shots; zoom can only do so much. For two, it allows for less jittery motion. " and if you ever need to do 360 turns, you need to learn to use sound, because the most you should plan for is 180." -I never said anybody has to do 360s. I don't need to do more than 180, myself, but I'm just saying accel makes 360s much easier. "turning off accel leads to better muscle memory too." -You're not considering that you can set up a sensitivity cap (/m_mousesenscap [max sensitivity]). I currently have mine set to 3x the base sensitivity, which gives me an idea of what I can do since I'm used to it.
@@grrrmbleQL grrrmbleQL I use povohats mouse accel filter (which is basically QL settings, but I can use it across my desktop and any game). It allows me to have low sens for tracking and high sens for flicking because it's capped and offset. It starts to accelerate once I start moving my mouse around 8-9 inches per second, then quickly caps at double my tracking sens when I move my mouse around 10 inches per second. So I can have two forms of sensitivity and two forms of muscle memory. My muscle memory is still intact, I can flick 180s and 270s if I need too (even the most aware player can be taken by surprise), but I can also stick my LG to my opponent like glue. Mouse accel has been given a bad name, but that's just because the implementation has sucked forever. I have the best of both high and low sens. It just gives you options. It's especially great if you've got a tiny mousepad.
mmm there are a few secrets to movement, its just knowledge and a few hours of practice in ammomod mge with a teacher and youll be able to dodge literally every projectile.
What about quake 3? Is their ammomod servers and if so where. Knew to quake and wanted to start from quake 3 and play with the veterans who played for a while so I can learn and improve enough to be decent or Ok in quake live
same question rocket lawnchair, you know quake 3 or quake live servers for this? what about you could help us to make one on diabotical upcoming map editor thats free. that would be sweet as as the aussies say.
I play quake a little and other fps games more, but there's something I'd like to ask- quite often, I dodge using random strafing with forward and backwards added in. I can dodge reasonably well, but I have difficulty maintaining a track while doing so. Any advice?
prolly best question so far tbh. but having said that, there's not much advice that i can offer. i guess you can try lowing your sensitivity, because it sounds like you can't aim steadily even when you know which way you will be dodging yourself. practise circle strafing and just tracking in general. there's no real secret to it :S
grrrmbleQL I don't think I should lower my sensitivity- I currently use use 9.1-inches-per-360, or 23-cm-per-360. I think the issue is really that when I'm in full-on dodge mode, my movement is almost literally random- I don't know where I'm going, so I can't compensate for it. So I guess I need to work on dodging 'randomly' while knowing where I'm going.
well, thats a streaming config, not good for playing (has bloom etc). Also, the zoom is part of the hud. check out stermy's config file for the zoom thing.

Cos COD in comparison is a game for noobs who can't handle the precision or expert players of quake. Many of whom have been playing before COD even existed. There is no higher FPS challenge than making it as a quake duel player. Anymore than there is no higher fighting game challenge than making it as a street fighter player. Why? cos both those games attract the most skilled players in the world, and those games have game play mechanics which when combined offer varaibles most FPS games do not, many of whom are constrained for millennial noobs. Sadly most gamers are angry kids or young men who just play a game which makes them feel good, and nobody likes to be told the game they play is humoring them. But quakers are a better breed. They seek out the toughest challenges, even if they lose, they are at least losing at a mans game. Go and play a top level quake player in duel, and I guarantee you, you'll realize how bad you really at FPS. You will get hammered. You'll be out-aimed. Out Thought. And it will take you YEARS to get on their level.
@@Dynamic3DLtd hey i know its been 4 years but do you ever regret making this comment? you sounded like a complete dork “quakers are a better breed” LMAO
nope, lg is hitscan. ql also has built in unlagged code, so you really shouldn't need to lead targets when using lg, as long as you have decent ping.
Basic dodging in every quake game.
That was excellent thank you for the info.
However, please turn down the in game volume, at points I couldn't hear what you were saying. :)
Great vid!
grrrmbleQL = grrrdian, ye. the one doing the dodging is me in the video, the voice over is fermentednug.
@Woodroffski LG is most definitely hitscan, you're just experiencing lag

How do you get the match timer at the bottom middle?
Thanks for the video!

It’s very hard to hear what you say because you shoot all the time - all I hear is quake sounds and your voice on the background
