Please note the split-second image of a hand holding almonds at 4:12. This is a reference to ALMOND: A NOVEL about a guy who has trouble identifying and describing experienced emotions because of a neuropsychologic condition (alexithymia). The "almond" refers to the amygdala, an almond-shaped area of the brain. Yoongi was seen reading this book in a preview to IN THE SOOP. The book is on Namjoon's recommended list.
*Meanings for the Trilogy song titles* *Daechwita- 2020* - is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while the ARMY is marching or as a static performance usually when the King is arriving. (Suga aka Agust D meant the BTS ARMY to be implied.) *Haegeum- 2023* - has two meanings. The first, it's a traditional Korean string instrument, resembling a vertical fiddle with two strings, usually played at Royal Court. Also, it means to lift a ban, or release what is forbidden. *Amygdala- 2023* - is an almond shaped part of our brain which is commonly thought to form the core of a neural system for processing fearful and threatening stimuli, including detection of threat and activation of our fight or flight response. The amygdala helps to store memories of events and emotions so that an individual may be able to recognize similar events in the future. *My own thoughts on Agust D's Triology:* Yoongi has shared his mental health issues with us since the beginning, and he stated how some of his roughest times were in the early days, like from 2014 to 2016, how he developed social anxiety at age 18, he was dealing with depression and OCD. BTS had hate coming at them from all angles, and it took a toll on them in the early years. So hearing all the other things he was dealing with as well, just puts things into perspective. He's such a strong person. In the making video, he said, "the scars we create are of our own making." So the best way for him to represent that was the way that he did with the scar on his face. And the medicine he took was for his condition. He talked about how he saw a psychiatrist and his parents went with him, and they said they didn't know who he was anymore. This was in "The Last" from his first mixtape Agust D. He said how could anyone know him when he doesn't know himself, so that phrase "I don't know your name" made sense to me. Looking back at repressed memories. Thankfully he got through all of it, and now is healed to a certain degree. I see the rain as a shift., He also talked about "What doesn't kill you make you stronger", and he is now blooming like a lotus flower. The lotus flower is very resilient, and can grow in mud and water, like on a lake or pond. So I see the rain as cleansing, and healing. He also said in the behind the scenes on Daechwita, that the mad King was the Agust D from his first Mixtape in 2016, and the peasant was from his 2020 mixtape D-2. You can see the scar is very raw in that video on both of them, maybe slightly less for the 2020 Agust D. In Haegeum, i interpret it as Agust D from 2020 is the Police detective/corrupt Boss, with the partially healed scar, and the Agust D that kills, and steals the money with no scar is D-Day-2023 Agust D. The one that is mostly healed and is talking about freedom. (Do we ever completely heal from our scars?) In an interview with IU, and in the D-Day film, he talks about how he was very angry, and now he has forgiven the haters and is living in the present. So his music moving forward may not have the angry vibe that we have seen in the past. But he is definitely not done yet Finally, Yoongi went on a world tour, after this album was released, and at the Final concert, he was very emotional, and had his BTS Bros. and his PEERS there with him. on a couple occasions, ARMY's sang the parts because he was so emotional he couldn't sing. And at the very end, the door he couldn't go through in this Music Video is on the stage, and he's able to walk through now. That tells me that he has healed and accepted those parts of himself, and he can move forward and let go now. You could see the relief on his face and the love as he waved good bye and closed the door. EPIC MOMENT.
I know that this is from more than a year ago but still... LONG A$$ COMMENT! THE AMYGDALA is a part of the brain whose primary role is in the formation and storage of memories associated with emotional events. its role is the processing of memories, decision-making, and emotional responses (like anxiety, fear, and aggression). He is calling to himself, to save him. So powerful. Calling out to those hard times in his life that shaped him, but also brought out the worst in him. I'M JUST SPEECHLESS every single time that I listen to this song. People face things in life that sometimes are embedded so harshly inside of them, that it changes their whole life, puts them in really deep, and sad places, that you want to rip out of you or re-live them (as he is showing in the MV), but you can't. It reminds me of the movie "Inside Out", where you have all of these emotions in your head trying to take control, thinking you should be happy all the time, never angry, never sad, never anxious, but in the end, you understand that you have to, that all of our emotions live together, you can't have one without the other. AMAZING SONG. BEAUTIFUL. SMART. August D, Suga, Yoongi He's My Ult bias out of all the groups that I listen to, not even in my Ult group. What I've learned about him made me love him even more. Before I learned those things, he was definitely up there for me, but now... I just can't compare him to absolutely anything. He's on the top 10\15 most credited song-writers in Korea, Prizes for producing. He started as an underground rapper when he was only 14\15. When he just started at some studio, he said he had to decide every day if he was going to eat or take the bus home, and if he ate, he walked 2 hours back... When his parents found out about his music, they were angry, didn't want him to do that, and didn't believe in it. They tore up his music... He really was in an accident. A bad one. at this point, he was already in BTS or training in BIG HIT to be BTS, but he needed money so against the rules he delivered food. After the accident, he didn't tell anyone and actually went for shoulder surgery only about 4 years ago if I remember correctly. He lost friends to drugs. One of his best friends died cause of it... He himself almost fell for it. His parents really did suffer different illnesses. + There is a clip out there when they came to one of his concerts as BTS, and I wanna say it was Parents' Day in Korea. He got so emotional, that he got on his knees, cried, and bowed before them... Working around depression, anxiety, and I believe a form of OCD, not sure. SO, after learning all of that. And so much more. I just... He just became number one for me. ESPECIALLY! after AMYGDALA. I can relate to too many things that he went through, so just seeing him, where he is, how he overcame and still working on everything. HE IS THE DEFINITION OF INSPIRATION.
thank you for explaining this! love how yoongi can really connect/resonate with others!! this is def an older reaction video from me, i learned more about him after this!!
@@ladiesman5678 With pleasure! thank you for reading and reacting :D I just found you a few hours ago and going through pretty much EVERYTHING on your channel lol Cause you react to the majority of the groups that I Love!
The scene with him getting in an accident with the car while on the delivery scooter is what happened to him way before he became known as Suga of BTS and Agust D. That accident is the main reason he had to get shoulder surgery because it got that bad. He use to fight depression and anxiety because of the trauma he's been through in his trainee days and when his parents had all their health issues. Now here is taking the courage and laying almost everything he's experienced out in the lyrics and music videos. So proud of his growth as a person and as an artist. Mad Respect to Suga.

i didn't know this! i love the layers of this music video!
Also, the Amygdala is an Amond shaped part of our brain. It could be referencing that as well.
