I purchased this kit, but I got the Tuxedo edition. It includes a few picks that are not in the regular Night School edition. This is the best option for someone who is ready to take the next step in Lock picking, now I’ve started repining the practice locks and I purchased the Check Pins that you designed to add more of a Challenge! Thanks for all your time.
Thank you, wasn't sure if the upgrade was worth it. Been picking about 5 months now, and it's definitely time to start pinning my own stuff. Thanks lock noob and kind viewer.
I've done up a similar bit of kit but instead of grabbing this I got the kickstart pick set with optional cut away lock, an extra medium hook pick, the reload kit and the progressive lock set for just about the same price, maybe a bit more. With Sparrows you can create an excellent kit to fit your wants and needs. I like the quality, it is top shelf.
They do a delux version with a few more profiles. In this kit, maybe I'd have gone with a larger half diamond and a triple peak bogata as swap outs :-)
Mine came today .It's got a city rake instead of the snake .Great quality really jumps out after after using an amazon set .Enjoying the challemge of the locks and room to re pin when I progres .Money well spent after watching this review,
$175 for this set with all its add-ons is a great price for quite the awesome set for someone like me, who lives outside of the north america region and is looking to make 1 single purchase to get a good set-up to go from utter beginner to quite an advanced intermediary level. With its starter progressive locks, then these locks,, re-pin the locks with the reload kit, then switch around the keyways too and finish up with the master key pinning kit.
I opened every padlock in my house in the first 3 weeks, 6 of them, single pining. These practice locks are quite a bit harder. It doesn't even matter that I can see the pins. 025 short hook, bottom tension
I've literally ordered 1 of those this morning nd a reload kit as I thought that will give me plenty of practice as not a newbie but defo not a pro either lol so great video t watch nd if i brought it all separately it would of cost me more any way nice video cheers
Got this set and the ssdev picks, and a set of top of the key way wrenches coming in the mail to learn. Good value, I was going to buy everything seperate then I noticed the kit and saved some money. This is honestly the cheapest hobby that I've added to my list of hobbies for about 110 usd to start, not much of an investment to me but why not get decent quality. Forget those 12 dollar china kits. What I dont get is why would you want 70 different tools? I bet I'd use 5 of them and never touch the rest. If lpl does everything single pick with about the same technique I think I'll start the dive in trying to emulate his technique. If I find I like it I'll be adding the reload kit, maybe a couple other tools and start looking at buying used padlocks, maybe some loto locks or borrowing the ones at work lol. I have an abus titalium 40mm I cant wait to give a go and see how much of a struggle it is.
My only bug bear (and it's because I'm past the novice stage) is I would of liked prybars and a few more hooks. But the case and locks in the kit is a nice idea😎😎👍
I wish I could afford this set. however I want the tuxedo version and the reload kit as well. I been picking for four months everyday but only just now started learning spool pins so naturaly this set would be be a good teaching tool for where I am right now. its just too expensive at the moment but I will get it someday :)
Honestly this kit should just come with 1 lock, the reload kit and tweezers. That would get the cost down (which is already too high for what it includes - those locks are only 20 cad rubles), or they could include more then 4 picks... Their tuxedo kit + standard cut away + repining kit w/tweezers is ~$75 and has the added benefit of actually teaching new pickers what the inside of a lock looks like.
Have you had a chance to try out the Night School Plus edition, yet? Feel like that may be my next kit upgrade. I really like the style of the practice locks this includes, and the Plus has more pick variations which you have mentioned you would have liked this particular kit you are reviewing to have included. Another great review!
Given that this video is a year old would you still recommend this kit over what sparrows has now? I really like those practice locks and I currently don’t have a case at the moment so I’ve just been carrying all my picks in a plastic baggy. Seems like a good thing to keep me occupied as I have a month long work trip to Thailand coming up. Speaking of, anyone ever have any trouble getting on a plane with lock picks and locks? I’ve never tried it before
Hmm... the pick selection is different than I thought it was supposed to be... regardless, I wish I'd gotten this instead of the cheap Chinese set I _did_ start with! I've wound up buying some of Sparrows' tensioners and locks anyway, and I eventually want a Sherman. (I did get my TOKs from Peterson.) I'm honestly not good enough to have much of a pick preference yet, but I kind of like the offset hybrid right now. I'm also using a short hook and Peterson Gem, though. I have absolutely no opinion on rakes atm; I have an assortment, but I'm so, _so_ bad at raking. I haven't been practicing enough to change that either. I know I need to! I'm thinking about buying someone a pick set as a gift, and I've been considering either this or the Kick Start, both of which I thought had offset hybrids, plus some TOK bars... the short hook is probably perfect, but I _do_ kind of want to include an OH :S
Those cut away practice locks are worth seventy five dollars if bought separately. there are a couple of individual picks I might get along with it but this looks like a good starter kit at an acceptable price. Being Canadian, i have a Sparrows bias.
@@LockNoob Yes, especially so because of their good quality. My noob set is on it's way, having gained the all important wifely blessing. :) I am getting the tux version of the night school set. I do not like blowing money, whether on stuff I don't need or on things I will regret. That too, I have learned the hard way.:) Age does not necessarily make one wise, but experience tends to do just that, or at least make one wiser.
I have the Night School Tuxedo set with the old style cut away locks (the new style locks came out a month or two after I bought mine), and the reload kit. Great way to start learning. I was thinking about getting a second reload kit for more variations of key bitting. Do you know if all the reload kits have the same keys, or are they random?
Im not entirely sure, but I _think_ the jeans are all the same. Check out my vid then bosnianbill's vid and see if the keys match :-) it's a really great kit though
I did think about it, then realised that it would be too similar to some of the tutorial videos I've done on serrated and spool pins. one the plus side, I'm going to give the kit away in an upcoming vid :-)
I got this set 3 month ago. I posted videos of the four first ruko model 500 I picked on lockpicking forums :) I do like this kit and learned a lot from it but I wonder why they did not iclude all hooks from their range instead of so many rakes and why they dont include the heavy bars and flatfive instead when the point of the kit is to learn security pins and picking locks like you find on a door . I do like this kit a lot but dont use the cut aways anymore. they are great educational tools however :)
i have one as well and the larger one my brother got me it for christmas and thanks to your interesting content I have become a beginner lock picker have a nice day.
Boy, this one has GIVE- A-WAY written all over it. Please feel free to send me this set and I'll be able to give you much better feed back on what I think of it. With all the room left over in the case you could even fit in some of those nice brass handled picks and a few bags of you're custom pins! ( I realize it's NOT all about me so I'll even pay postage!!!) I'm going outside by my mail box right now in anticipation! LOL
Well, I AM going to do this as a giveaway with some of the Check Pins thrown in too to celebrate 7000 subscribers. Keep a lookout for the vid and make sure you enter the draw, you never know?! :-)
I really like this set :-) www.sparrowslockpicks.com/product_p/nightschool.htm
Would this be better than Southord lock picking school?

Cool!

Great little starter kit, I know I could've used this when starting out. Also, I really enjoy your reviews, very informative.
Thank you :-) more to come :-)
Great set and Review. I really like the way they have improved the cut away. 👏👍
Yeah, me too :-)
Looks like a solid starter kit with room for expansion 👍🏻
It is :-)
Descent piece of kit. Price seems reasonable. Can always add to it if you're still keen. Cheers!🙃👍
Cheers :-)
This is a really nice kit and good value for money when starting out.
Yes, I think so too :-)

The hobby starts off cheap, then you get addicted!
@@LockNoob I can see it spiraling fast with the purchase of used locks on ebay. They aren't cheap!
My only bug bear (and it's because I'm past the novice stage) is I would of liked prybars and a few more hooks.

They do do a delux version with a few more pieces, but I don't think that has prybars either tbh :-)

@@LockNoob I got it today. I do like it. :)
Please do a video on the 5 spool lock they include. I've had my set for 2 months and love it. But can't for the life of me get that 5 spool lock open!
Just take your time and practice. Try removing a couple of pin stacks and adding them back in as you progress :-)
@@LockNoob thanks sir much respect for responding🍻

It’s a good kit for a beginner who has some spare cash to spend, otherwise I’d recommend a smaller kit like the Tuxedo :-)

Hi Locknoob you’ve done some cracking videos, keep it up
Thanks, will do :-)
I prefer the double peak. I'm not a locksmith though
Whatever works for you is always best :-)
Other than having the case you can build this kit for about $20 less
Sparrows Night School Tuxedo + edition. You get 7 picks. :)

Seems like a bargain for another $16 👍
Yeah, pretty good value I'd say :-) I got his one as a well known locksport channel already reviewed the other one
Initially, I bought the Sparrows Night School Tuxedo + edition and later the Monstrum. Together they provide a great selection of picks.
The updated set is nicer

soverign92 do you mean “The Sherman” case? Cause they do, its listed under “cases” near the bottom. Its around $10 or so.

99$ and they can't throw in a TOK tensioner. These kits suck.
Wow, this seems very expensive for three locks and 99 cents worth of tools.
Buying a kit is a good way to get stuck with things you don't need.
