Thank you! Ordering my Sanda and/or Pablo Raez right away. 😁
Nice one Kieron! Some great options here 👍
Well done Kieron! Very insightful review. I'm sure it was no mean feat putting this together. Really interesting pieces... I think the 1st Seiko gets a lot of flack because it's wrongly categorised as a Tank homage though. I believe it's actually a Reverso homage, actually... The angular lugs hint at this, I think... Great video man! Keep up the great work. Cheers!
Learning something new from you every time! I love browsing the individual websites for these watches you’ve recommended. Subscribed…
Amazing, glad you enjoy my videos mate. Happy to have you on the channel 🙏
Thanks for this video - nicely done. I actually own the Herbelin Art Deco. It is a fantastic time piece that both exudes Cartier Tank and JLC Reverso-esque vibes. Well-built and robust. The guilloche enhances the dial design and the cabochon on the crown is a nice homage to Cartier. I just also recently purchased the Vario Versa. A very unique timepiece - it is my "JLC Reverso GMT". Both scratched the rectangular dress watch itch.
Keep up the great content!
Very cool, enjoy your Versa 👌 great watch. I've also just picked up a Herbelin Art Deco. Played around with it today on a few straps, super cool watch.
Thanks for watching ⌚
@@TopTierTicker For the Vario Versa - aside from the wrist watch itself, it is great to have direct communication with the owners. And they are very attentive to their customers. The Herbelin Art Deco - we have a "his and hers". My wife has the bracelet and the pearl dial. Top quality and value for both Vario and Herbelin.
Brilliant choices. Impressed by how many you uncovered and they all seem to be good watches depending on your preference and size of your wrist. 👏🏻
I always try and cover everyone's needs! Glad you enjoyed it mate. Thanks for watching
The Seiko SUP880 cannot be ignored here. It even comes in a solar variant. I have a vintage quartz version from the late 70's that belonged to my grandfather. It's incredible.
Unfortunately Seiko discontinued the solar version. I kick myself for not getting one.
@@JR-gp2zk oh, I did not know that. That's too bad.
It's a great watch, but it's been talked about to death on RUclips already. I try to keep my suggestions fresh :)
Seiko's quartz tank models definitely can't be ignored. Pure class.
@@TopTierTickerstill should of added in there mate the best one for one copy out of all of them and with the most brand history
Not really a Tank alternative, but I just recently learned about the Longines Split 5, ana digi. Super slim, tiny and 1980s, in Tank shaped case.
Very well done. Thank you.
That was a great video.
There’s also an Indian brand. Not sure if it’s still in production but I see several on Etsy. Tank looking but still unique. Cheers!
Great video - subscribed. Many thanks 🙏
Mom I made it! The photo of the Bergmann 1922 is my wrist! 😅 How cool is that! ❤
Well, thank you! It's the only photo of the Bergamm 1922 on a wrist I could find on the Internet 😆 so, thanks for sharing it!
Very nice choices and many brands that are new to me. Another great video, thank you
I had a lot of fun making this one. I absolutely love the Herbelin watch. I might just have to get one for my collection! Cheers for watching 🙏
I’ve got a Duckworth Prestex and yeah it’s a great quality watch!
Rotary do a great tank for the price point.
Great video!
The Lorier is really cool 😎
nice video dude the BERGMANN 1922 watch is probably the right one for me ! 😊
Great video and superb picks, especially that Hamilton! Definitely my favorite of the bunch.
There's just a couple of things that great on me and they aren't your fault. One of them is this term "affordable." I know we have a general idea of what this means but it's honestly, completely meaningless. Affordability is tied to a personal situation. Affordability lives in the moment. Calling something affordable or not affordable is honestly about the most subjective measure you could possibly make.
Whether or not a person thinks a watch is affordable depends not only on their net worth and their income, but expenses, temporary setbacks or problems, unexpected windfalls... I'm saying it doesn't just very person to person it varies moment to moment.
What is affordable for one person is not affordable for another, and what is affordable to a particular person may not be affordable to them 6 months or 6 years down the line depending on how their life changes.
I don't know that the word budget is any better. A 3 billion dollar budget is still a budget.
I just I guess I'm searching for a word that conveys what we want affordable to convey without all the fuforah.
The other thing I want to do address is the 3000 price tag of the tank. Cartier watches and for the most part all luxury Swiss watches do not sell on specs. You will never be able to get better specs better build better quality at a lower price and compete because people pay for the name and all they are paying for in some cases is the name. I do appreciate having cheaper alternatives to a watch that is currently out of reach, but the persistent ditch will be there because it is that particular thing that we want.
but hell with it here's to scratching the itch for now 😁
You should look at the Citizen tank style - have two and they are the slimmest and most comfortable I have ever owned
Great vid thanks!!
No probs, thank you for watching my friend 🙏
I wanted a “tank” in my collection, but I didn’t care for the look of the Cartier though. I ended up torn between the Hamilton Boulton, or the Bulova Frank Sinatra 'My Way' 98A261. Ended up with the Bulova. I love its art deco aesthetic. I have the two tone variant. I appreciate when a watch incorporates gold tone on the inside (à la Alpinist) so that I don’t really have to worry about marring the plating. Sure the name might just be a cash grab, but it’s a lovely little sharp angled thing if you like that kind of thing. I still wanna get the Hami for the exact opposite reason; its roundness loI. I think the roman numerals look crowded on the Cartier vs the Hamilton given its wider case. Just wanted to throw the My Way tank in there since It never gets mentioned. Like you said, Bulova does Art Deco well, therefore I consider it worth a look.
I went with 1990 Credor Seiko 8J81-5020 on a Forstner 9-Row Beads of Rice bracelet. Cheers!
Credor ain’t cheap at all ! 😂
I never really liked the look of Tank style watches, but the more I see of them plus you're infectious enthusiasm, the more I'm warming to the style.
Amazing how many there are! That Lorier looks very classy....and unique.
Great work Kieron, cheers 👍
Believe it or not, there's not actually many of them. It was a bit of a struggle to put this video together. I was stuck on 9 for hours, then finally decided to add the Hamilton.
I was also on your boat! I didn't really enjoy the style of the tank for years... But the Sanda completely changed that. I'm not fully a rectangular dress watch enthusiast! And I love that Herbelin. I might just have to buy it 😆
Hope you're well Rik!
@@TopTierTicker I'm good thanks mate. I think I might just grab a Sanda to dip my toe in and see how I like wearing one.
You've obviously worked hard on this list, some cracking pieces on there mate.
Well done again! 👍
Really nice selection! I was not aware of some of the brands at all, I like the De Guzman model. I was a bit surprised to see no Seiko in the list, I bought the SWR052P1 for 156 EUR last year. It is a quartz model with a very clean and simple look and a not-so bad strap for an affordable Seiko. It has a small blue (pseudo) crystal on the crown like the tank.
I like the Seiko, but it's been covered to death here on RUclips. I like to keep things as fresh as possible :) have nothing against it though, looks like a great watch!
@@TopTierTicker that's right, better to see fresh (watch) faces!
Hello, great video! Can you recommend an alternative for the Santos-Dumont? Similar design preferably. Thank you!
Thanks for the video its come in the time when i looking for tank watch 😊
And guys should look for DW watches they have good tank watch
Quality review love watching your channel
Appreciate that! It's a pleasure to have you on the channel my friend
@@TopTierTicker you are most welcome my friend 👍
Well done nice video!
Nice line up, one for every budget....🏴⌚🏴⌚
man that Deguzman is cool, just wish it didn't have the date and was manual wind so it could be a lot slimmer
Awesome video 👌 Can’t wait to see the Casio LTP B165 review. I’ve only found one on youtube.
It's arrived 👌 video will be out mid-week :)
@@TopTierTicker 🙌
What about several similar tank models from Longines?
Nice video.. But where is contact you for purchase your branded Watch in pakistan because there many copies in the market ...
Do you mean a navy dial rather than a black dial on the Casio LTP B165L?
thanks
Great video! thank you! I've been looking at this style of watch--- some excellent options!!! thank you! I've subbed and will check out your over videos! Cheers, Michael
Thanks mate. Welcome to the channel 🙏
Very informative
Glad you think so! Appreciate you watching
really good video brothe
Thank you brother 🙏
The size of Cartier Tank is kind of smaller for men's wrists. Can you give me a clue about a watch that has a similar face to Cartier Tank but has a wider lugs?
I have the Lorier and highly recommend it.
Good to hear!
The Seiko SWR049 is a Cartier tank homage watch and is also a very good alternative for roughly $200 (American).
Great alternative to the tank in this vid
Thank you 🙏 glad you think so
Watch this video and went for the Bergman UHR 1922. Ordered it from the company in Frankfurt, almost 4 weeks for free shipping, but for &28 well worth it. Love the watch, it's way better than the price. Aloha and Mahalo.
That's great to hear. Glad you're enjoying it my friend. Stay well 🙏
The Söner is for me the Coolest 👌🏻👌🏻
What about Rotary Cambridge?
Wow what a Casio! The blue and gold looks dope! I would not mind adding that Lorier to my collection... What a beauty! Herbelin? Is that the same brand as Michelle Herbelin? That Duckworth also looks very pretty! Have a great week man!
Yes Herbelin and Michel Herbelin are the same. It confused me for a long time! But they have both for sale on their official website. Confusing but hey, they're French 😆
@@TopTierTicker It is a bit haha! What can you do! Take care man!
The Herbelin looks more like a JLC Reverso to me 😅 but thanks for another great video!!
Yeah... It's taken elements from both hasn't it. I always appreciate when a brand does this, rather than just doing a 1for1 copy.
Where are the HMT Ashwini/inox and the Fossil Carraway?
great video Kieren. Thank you for inclusion Neil
My pleasure! Hope all is well 🙏
I have an herbelin CAP camarat Square automatic , seems a Cartier Santos homage but is good 😅
I think I need the Herbelin from the video. The design looks perfect!
Longines Dolce Vita was a big omission. Worth looking at. Having said all that, just get a pre-owned Cartier. You could get one for about £1,500 and you’d have a real Cartier, as worn by Muhammad Ali, JFK, Ingrid Bergman, Princess Diana, Cary Grant and everyone else who was cool in the 20th Century. You’d always know you had the original on your wrist, not an homage
Do not forget the LIP Churchill.
You can also find some really cool alternatives in vintage Seiko and Citizen watches.
You can! I often buy these to sell on my website. However, it's hard to recommend a specific model because they can be hard to find
a tank style dress should aways be quartz, I think the automatic sweep looks silly on a rectangular dial in my opinion
See also an interesting modern take from Farer:
- Farer Milan: green dial with silver numerals
- Farer London: white dial with red numerals
- Farer Paris: blue dial with Roman numerals
THANNNKKK UUUUUUUUU
WELCOMEEEEE 🙏
I have the Sanda and it's so much better than a fake Cartier (which I - embarrassingly - have).
Don’t be embarrassed he said, by the man that has four Pagani watches and is constantly impressed by their style and accuracy. And how well I can wear them knowing I don’t have a nice motorbike on my wrist each time 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
the jump from a 50$ watch to the 500$ watch caught me off guard I was about go buy that watch until I heard the price lmaooo
Would rather save up for a cartier tank. Instantly stands out over a Seiko or Hamilton and is the OG. Also retains better value
A little on the pricier side but you can’t forget the Longines DolceVita
Good suggestion!
Well, the best affordable watch I’ve ever seen is the Rotary Cambridge range. It’s too good to not feature in this list. But it didn’t, for some reason.
the tank does have the best proportions, every little thing about it, even the buckle and strap are perfection. But definitely overpriced. But it is aesthetically perfect.
How did bro make a whole video on tank alternatives and didn’t mention the best one out of all of them the seiko tank essential
Bergmann or the new Casio watch?
I'd say go with the Casio :)
Not the most sorted video. It's important to stress the importance of Pablo and Sandor's case material - both will show signs of corrosion in less than a year. Also, Seiko has multiple under the radar Tank equivalents between $100-200 USD. I'd even say Seiko's missed offerings are the most user friendly of them all. Easily accessible and recognizable brand.
U cant get the blue, red or green Vario as there sold out!😭
I have it under good authority that they will be coming back in stock at some point 😁
Unfortunately, none of these watches supplant the Cartier Tank Louis... except the JLC Reverso Tribute.
Mayotta
Bro I bout 7aaa copy cartier in just 2500 Indian rupies in japan😅
It loses the roman numerals?
Thank god!
Lego scarlet watch
Berny makes a beautiful day/date tank watch for $50.
Sansa, Pablo Raez.... ahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!
I’m surprised the Kamazu wasn’t included in here
isn't it a bit strange, to speak Cartier Tank alternatives, not mentioning the Seiko variants?
Everyone already knows about those ones 😆
well, fair enough@@TopTierTicker
Yeah, and you can buy a Hyundai but it’ll never be a Mercedes.
Name brand watches are purchased not for performance but for the gratification and satisfaction of the owner.
If performance was the only standard, nothing but solar atomic Casios and Citizens would sell.
Not true. Some want the look without the ridiculous price for a basic spec sheet. You can get just as much satisfaction from a Herbelin if you're a proper enthusiast.
Cheaper? Yeah.
Better? Nay.
😂
How are those better ? Cartier is top horlogerie and not that expensive for entry level tank .
So you obviously better buy a pre owned cartier than 2 brand new hamilton…
I like the Tank. But, it doesn't take more than a quick glance to see that it's terrible value. It's great looking watch with a fantastic history. But it leaves a lot to be desired. I wouldn't spend $2000+ on a tank. There's just so many better options.
My wife told me no alternative Cartier
Better?? Er, no....
You can't argue that some of these watches have BETTER Specifications than the tank. It's not a debate mate
For the riff raff, absurd comparison.
Stop putting those infuriating sound effects in…they set dogs off!
It’s a FAKE! Save and buy the original!
A hommage and a fake is not the same thing
And plus not everyone has enough money to save up 3.5k
