That sephiroth was really good! I just think he was having a hard time figuring out how to approach the hero. I think he was playing a little too patient, when he should’ve just gone in and started swinging😂
I thought this was going to be a quick win for the Hero. The first fight was amazingly one sided and only got a bit closer because of their own mistake.
That first match is why I love Hero. He went from stomping, to being stomped, to coming back before Sephiroth can gets a reverse 3 stock. Hero's advantage ends when the game decides he's had enough fun and it's his opponent's turn to dominate. That or his MP gets low and he fails to adapt in time.
What I'm not seeing that usually works on hero is dash forward full hop into Up-B any time he pops his menu open. The worst thing that can happen is hitting a magic burst or kamakazi and you can mix up by switching between charging or not charging. But on most of Hero's options that will be a free punish if he doesn't cancel out.
you forgot flameslash and kakrackle slash tho, comes out instantly and with a large aoe. up b from sephiroth can be overwritten with the shield bash foward tilt as well. also a hero response to your mixup, would be fake putting up the menu by using second jump cancel tech for hero.
Another thing to add is a risk reward ratio. If you land that mixup and get an octolash, you might kill. If not, assuming it doesn't cross up, you're eating a smash attack. With Seph's weight and the possibility of a crit, most times the risk reward isn't worth what you can easily do with a fair
Shields have 50 health, so any strike that can do more than 50 is a one hit shield break. There are some exceptions like PU because along with a 20% damage boost, it stacks with a hidden 65% damage boost against shields. A slight charge with PU F Smash breaks shields (it's also regardless of percents)

Feels like the Hero gave up like 500% damage if not more by getting caught in the air constantly, all them hops got punished a ton
Overall he knew the matchup pretty well and avoided those shadowflare effectively
