I was first hooked on early Machine Head with their first album but overtime lost interest and sort of forgot about them. Then they came out with an album in 2007 called The Blackening which was just an absolute mic drop masterpiece. To this day I think it belongs in the upper pantheon of metal albums of all time, like top 50ish. If you do more Machine Head, I would highly recommend Clenching the Fists of Dissent or A Farewell to Arms.
I love Clenching the Fists of Dissent. Just when it’s pummeled you with brutality for 8+ mins and you think it’s about to wind down, it starts building again and blasts you with that final riff. Perfection
I second the Davidian request. It’s forgotten since The Blackening came out, but Burn My Eyes was one of the first New Wave of American Heavy Metal albums and it’s chockers full of epic songs, Davidian being the most famous one.
I think, well, for us older metal heads, davidian was like THE song... and soooo ripped off by countless bands since. I saw them on those early tours, never as the opener, and kind of forgot about them, this new stuff is light years past davidian but that song is so amazing...
some must-listens from machine head (in my opinion): -Darkness Within (theres an acoustic version as well) -I Am Hell (Sonata in C#) -Descend the Shades of Night -Kaleidoscope -Beyond The Pale -Imaginal Cells -Pearls Before the Swine -Halo -Beautiful Mourning -Now I Lay Thee Down -This Is The End
You really need a soft way in. I heard "Davidian" and "ten ton hammer" at ~15 years old and i got scared and almost felt violated in the hears. I wasn't ready. The perceived weight and high pitch distortion is an accuired taste.
@@xedasxedas it's true, and at the time, I liked hardcore music and 80s metal/rock but Locust was so dynamic, and heavy, and well made that at the time it blew my mind, now im jammin way heavier stuff than they ever were, but they're always gonna be the best for me
Asthetics of hate is all you need next! Anything off the blackening really as it's considered there best and one of the best metal albums of the last 20 years easily! Keep the videos coming dude we love them! 🤙🏻
Finaly someone reacted this song! I just love this one and i´ve been suggesting this for many to react for years. Machine Head is so underrated band but these kind of masterpieces should everyone hear.
Can’t go wrong with Halo. One of their best tracks…. As always I’ll continue my recommendation for lamb of god - embers featuring chino the vocalist from Deftones :)
Love this track. You should definitely check out "Sail Into The Black" next by them...I know you will love and appreciate how the arrangement just keeps building the whole song. It's a masterpiece!
I lived in this album back in high school. This and The Blackening. Halo would be a cool song to react to, although it’s like 9 mins long. That’s the song that got me into Machine Head
Machine Head seemed like they owned a permanent spot on the second stage of many Festival type concerts I've been to over the years like Oz-Fest and U-Fest(local rock station sponsored) I was a huge fan of these guys years ago but wasn't until they were suggested thru my music app recently that I started listening to them again . This song is the one that made me stop working to check my phone to see who this song was done by so I could thumbs it up. I thought it was All that remains , As I Lay Dying or After the burial but wasn't sure. I'm sure hardcore fans would give me shit " those bands don't sound alike" but I don't buy albums and study the music like I used to. Most of the stuff I listen to is when I'm working construction and don't have time to stop all the time and look at the songs I don't know or that I do know but don't remember the artist name. Alot of bands sound similar if you are just listening to the surface of the song behind the construction noises! Good Job Geebz on honing in on this one! Awwwright!!
Beautiful Mourning!! Weirdly it was playing Guitar Hero Metallica that introduced me to Machine Head. As others have said, The Blackening is just magnificent, anything from that. I'm off to listen to it now after all this thinking about it! :D Love your work dude!
Halo, Heavy Lies the Crown, Imperium, Words in Arrows from the Sky, This is the End, Farewell to Arms, Descend the Shades of Night, Sail in to the Black, Clenching the Fists of Dissent, Bulldozer, I’m Your God Now, etc…etc…etc.
So many MH songs for you to get through. Descend the shades of night, heavy lies the crown, I am hell, now we die to name a few. Lived this man. Sub'd.
would love to hear your analysis on the band 'IGORRR' they are a band that combines a variety of disparate genres, including black metal, baroque music, breakcore, and trip-hop into a singular sound. Would be cool if you did the song 'Tout Petit Moineau' or 'Camel Dancefloor'
My favorite Machine Head album was Through the Ashes of Empires, which contained two outstanding songs: "Imperium" and "Left Unfinished," which explored the dichotomy between the love he feels for his adoptive parents and his disgust for his birth parents. A lyrically seething track.
Great choice of band, these guys bridged the gap between 80s thrash and late 90s-early 2000s New Wave American Heavy Metal with crusher riffs, epic compositions and an album or two of nu-metal experimentation that fell flat. Check these tracks out: - Davidian - Ten Ton Hammer - The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears - Days Turn Blue To Gray - Now I Lay Thee Down - Aesthetics of Hate - My Hands Are Empty Enjoy!
Machine Head?! Yes! Haven’t listened to MH in quite a while honestly, but they used to be on of my absolutely favourite bands back in the day. To really enjoy true MH, you’ve gotta give their song “Imperium” a go. It’s one of their absolute classics and all time bests!
Machine Head is one of my faves - they’ve released a handful of the best metal songs of the current century imo. Also highly recommend: - Clenching the Fists of Dissent - Imperium - I Am Hell - Sail into the Black
Love this track. Their debut album is a killer first album, Burn My Eyes from 1992. Recommendations I'd go with, Album - Song: Burn My Eyes - The Rage to Overcome (hard to choose a single track) The More Things Change - Ten Ton Hammer The Burning Red - Desire to Fire The Blackening - Aesthetics of Hate (Halo I think will be the fav from this album, I chose Aesthetics of Hate due to it's message to a hateful person spilling vitriol after Dimebag Darrell passed) Bloodstone & Diamonds - Now We Die \m/
Great reaction! I highly recommend Imperium, Descend the Shades of Night, Clenching the Fists of Dissent, Halo, Wolves, A Farewell to Arms, I Am Hell, Darkness Within, Heavy Lies The Crown & Arrows in Words From The Sky 🤘🏼
For the love of all things rock 'n f'n roll, revisit Clutch asap! "The Mob Goes Wild", "Profits Of Doom" or really anything from the Blast Tyrant album!
For me, Burn My Eyes is still like the perfect metal album. Not a song I skip, love it. The Blackening and Unto the Locust are great in their own right, the rest of Machine Head I usually skip. Robb does these streams on Friday playing songs, it's kind of fun at times. Recently he got some of the old crew back to play Burn my Eyes on stream, it was marvelous.
Hey Geebz! I don't see where the "search bar" is located on your RUclips page, but you CANNOT miss Trivium Amongst The Shadows And The Stones! It's a MUST listen!!
To me this whole album is one of the best *composed* metal records ever. There's nothing super "proggy" about Machine Head in the Dream Theatre or Djent sense, but that was part of the magic of this album. It was just REALLY good HEAVY metal composed and put together in such a way that still sounds unique and fresh 10 years later. They didn't re-invent the wheel, they just made it better. To, me this is a bedrock record for "Modern Metal"
As Tool paid homage to Led Zeppelin with No Quarter, Machine Head does a phenomenal job with their version of Hallowed by thy name by Iron Maiden. It would be a pleasure to see your take on this.
Double Barrel Friday request - King Diamond “Abigail” and Mercyful Fate “Desecration of Souls”. This will definitely get you into the Halloween 🎃 spirit
the blackening album is my absolute favorite. Would be great if you could listen to "wolves" or "halo". You are fantastic, can`t get enough of your vids.
Would recommend you try some Beneath the Massacre, After the Burial, Ion Dissonance and The Faceless! And as a cherry on top, Pomegranate Tiger. And if you're not afraid hehe, some Converge or even Psyopus.
So glad to see a reaction to Machine Head video. Rob Flynn lead vocal and guitar is one of the best out there. His vocal diversity is awesome. And if you ever get the chance, go see them live. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between hearing them live and listening to a studio album, other than the fact that it is way more awesome to see them perform songs like this in person. It gives you chills.
Another Machine Head track to check out is “Imperium” 👌🏼
Couldnt suggest a better tune!
and descend the shades of night for one of the most emotion driven solos i think personally of all time
Came here to say Imperium. 🤘
Imperium.
Definitely the song to check out.
10 Ton Hammer, Davidian, old school shits.
What this guy said. Exactly.
Ditto....Especially Farewell
That back and forth soloing on Clenching is a thing of beauty!
I love Clenching the Fists of Dissent. Just when it’s pummeled you with brutality for 8+ mins and you think it’s about to wind down, it starts building again and blasts you with that final riff. Perfection
The Blackeninig is the best American metal album since And Justice For All
The Darkness Within is another great song by Machine Head.
I love the acoustic version
@@inktoxicant I do too, but for me the original is more powerful. It's a perfect song to me.
Especially with the meaning behind the lyrics portraying music as a religion. I think Geebz would like that aspect.
Best solo if ever heard is on this love it
i still like old Machinehead too, Davidian is worth a listen.
Please react to Machine Head’s “Davidian,” “Halo,” and “Imperium”
Thank you!🤘🏻
I second the motion for Halo
I second the Davidian request. It’s forgotten since The Blackening came out, but Burn My Eyes was one of the first New Wave of American Heavy Metal albums and it’s chockers full of epic songs, Davidian being the most famous one.
I think, well, for us older metal heads, davidian was like THE song... and soooo ripped off by countless bands since. I saw them on those early tours, never as the opener, and kind of forgot about them, this new stuff is light years past davidian but that song is so amazing...
I always recommend Halo, but Davidian is definitely one of their top 5 songs. Probably my top 3 next to Locust and Halo.
Ah halo is amazingggg
A Farewell to Arms is a must listen too by these guys. It's an absolute masterpiece
some must-listens from machine head (in my opinion):
-Darkness Within (theres an acoustic version as well)
-I Am Hell (Sonata in C#)
-Descend the Shades of Night
-Kaleidoscope
-Beyond The Pale
-Imaginal Cells
-Pearls Before the Swine
-Halo
-Beautiful Mourning
-Now I Lay Thee Down
-This Is The End
My 1st listen too!! That was fucking fantastic!!
Rob Flynn is guitar and vocals..one of the most Underrated front men in all of music!
They are celebrating their 30th anniversary this week 🤘🤘🏿🤘🏼
Keep rocking it out and us old HEADCASES will be there with ya!!!
Locust is the song that served as my bridge between my love of hard rock into my love for metal, Awesome reaction Geebz!
You really need a soft way in. I heard "Davidian" and "ten ton hammer" at ~15 years old and i got scared and almost felt violated in the hears. I wasn't ready. The perceived weight and high pitch distortion is an accuired taste.

I think doing a reaction to The Blackening album on its entirety is exactly what this channel needs!! Give the people what they want!
One of the best metalsongs ever. Perfect riff, melody, structure and arrangement.
Asthetics of hate is all you need next! Anything off the blackening really as it's considered there best and one of the best metal albums of the last 20 years easily! Keep the videos coming dude we love them! 🤙🏻
Aesthetics of Hate has an interesting story he might even appreciate given all the shit metal has taken over the last 40 years
best guitar solo (duo?) ever, too!
Yes! Thanks Geez🤘
Now....THATS a Metal Band!!
02:03 start drumming with floor toms all ready.
That face you pulled at the end riff is involuntary, it's the classic metal game face 🤘🏻
God, I love machine head sooooo much 🔥😭🖤
Finaly someone reacted this song!
Embers is a phenomenal track, such a wicked pairing of sounds 🤘🤘🤘
Clenching the Fists of Dissent. You WON'T regret it!!
Those baritone guitars just sound so much gnarlier than a regular scale guitar tuned down
An EXCELLENT suggestion of an EPIC song from a CRIMINALLY underrated band!! 🤘💀🤘
Love this track. You should definitely check out "Sail Into The Black" next by them...I know you will love and appreciate how the arrangement just keeps building the whole song. It's a masterpiece!
Definitely
I lived in this album back in high school. This and The Blackening. Halo would be a cool song to react to, although it’s like 9 mins long. That’s the song that got me into Machine Head
Same
Love machine head! Imperium and descend the shades of night are excellent songs but really, they have a ton of amazing music
Love your work dude!
Finally! YES!!!
The breakdown at 13:40 gave him the stank face approval haha
Amazing song
Knocked Loose - A Tear in the Fabric of Life
I have loved this song from the moment it released. I feel it almost has an Operatic quality to the composition of vocal and guitar melodies.
This entire album is worth listening to, IMO this is the best Machine Head has ever been and its a shame its not the same members anymore.
good call! the singer plays guitar too.
No-one on RUclips has your unique perspective as a composer. Love this.
I was just thinking yesterday that I wanted you to do Machine Head!
Davidian from Machine Head!! 🤘🏼
Definitely should try 'Be Still And Know' also off their unto the locust album. The riffs really slay at around 3 minutes in.
Bloody brilliant song. Keep rocking on man. You're probably the most da kine dude in all the world. Never felt so peaceful listening to Machine Head
May I suggest "I am Hell". The intro alone is amazing.
So many MH songs for you to get through. Descend the shades of night, heavy lies the crown, I am hell, now we die to name a few. Lived this man. Sub'd.
"Halo" is an absolute must!
SUFFER UNTO THE LOCUST \m/
Good call Geebz. 'The Rage To Overcome.'... that is all.
Please do Dimmu Borgir "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse"
would love to hear your analysis on the band 'IGORRR' they are a band that combines a variety of disparate genres, including black metal, baroque music, breakcore, and trip-hop into a singular sound. Would be cool if you did the song 'Tout Petit Moineau' or 'Camel Dancefloor'
Robb, the singer, plays guitar aswell
Machine Head - I Am Hell (Sonata in C#)
Yes ! Excellent choice ! Please check out : "Bay of Pigs" from MH.
Have a good one 🌊
Meshuggah - Do Not Look Down!!!
You can try Aesthetics Of Hate from Machine Head.
When you come back around..... Davidian.
On this same album...you should do: 'Darkness Within' (Acoustic Version)
Man I wish I had a music teacher like you in collage. I probably wouldn't have dropped out of music theory if you were teaching.
Unto The Locust is their best and my favorite album. Locust and Darkness Within are masterpieces
I heavily recommend "sail into the black" or "the rage to overcome", two amazing tracks
My favorite Machine Head album was Through the Ashes of Empires, which contained two outstanding songs: "Imperium" and "Left Unfinished," which explored the dichotomy between the love he feels for his adoptive parents and his disgust for his birth parents. A lyrically seething track.
Check out the EPIC....Clenching the Fists of Dissent!!!🤘🤘

He FINALLY does a Machine Head song. Halo or Imperium next.
A Farewell To Arms. Will blow you away.
Great song! I miss the old Machine Head
you definitely need to do some paradise lost
Imo machine head has one of the best debut albums of all time. So dig into that one 😊
Machine Head?! Yes!

Devildriver - Fate Stepped In
I WAS WAITING GEEBZ THEYRE SUCH AN UNDERRATED BAND
You absolutely need to do Orbit Culture - North Star of Nija (Live from the studio), it’s incredible.
Love this track. Their debut album is a killer first album, Burn My Eyes from 1992. Recommendations I'd go with, Album - Song:
Burn My Eyes - The Rage to Overcome (hard to choose a single track)
The More Things Change - Ten Ton Hammer
The Burning Red - Desire to Fire
The Blackening - Aesthetics of Hate (Halo I think will be the fav from this album, I chose Aesthetics of Hate due to it's message to a hateful person spilling vitriol after Dimebag Darrell passed)
Bloodstone & Diamonds - Now We Die

Machine Head! Nice
The beginning makes me think of Static-X, great band of my young adult life ! « Get To The Gone » is a good start in their universe. Cheers Geebs 🍻
TREMONTI - LET THAT BE US 🔥🔥🔥
Machine Head is my absolute favorite band. Their guitar work is second to none!11
This is my favorite track by them.
For the love of all things rock 'n f'n roll, revisit Clutch asap! "The Mob Goes Wild", "Profits Of Doom" or really anything from the Blast Tyrant album!
React to Haggard - Awaking the centuries
Aquilus - Into Wooded Hollows!
Neoclassical metal, you'll thoroughly enjoy it!
Halo and Descend the Shades of Night
This is my favorite Machine Head song!
Same, blows pretty much everything else they've written out of the water.

I would love to see your take on YOB. They're brilliant heavy post metal. Tracks like Marrow and Adrift in the Ocean. Absolute masterclass
What brand are your headphones 🎧?
How about Opeth- "Credence"?
As Tool paid homage to Led Zeppelin with No Quarter, Machine Head does a phenomenal job with their version of Hallowed by thy name by Iron Maiden. It would be a pleasure to see your take on this.
How about Paradise Lost?
Double Barrel Friday request - King Diamond “Abigail” and Mercyful Fate “Desecration of Souls”. This will definitely get you into the Halloween 🎃 spirit
nice!
the blackening album is my absolute favorite. Would be great if you could listen to "wolves" or "halo". You are fantastic, can`t get enough of your vids.
Such a great song, those string skip harmonics are a nightmare to play though.
Would recommend you try some Beneath the Massacre, After the Burial, Ion Dissonance and The Faceless! And as a cherry on top, Pomegranate Tiger. And if you're not afraid hehe, some Converge or even Psyopus.
Unto the Locust is one of the albums that got me into metal. So much nostalgia
Machine Head - Darkness Within (read the lyrics plzz)
Machine Head - Davidian

Machine Head - Aesthetics of Hate
...it's a real barn burner of a track ✌️❤️🇦🇺
