Just found your channel recently and subscribed. I converted back to iOS and Mac after a long hiatus. Your videos are very informative and easy to follow!
I'm so glad you found me, and I hope this video helps with your transition back. Make sure to let me know if there are specific questions you have or ways that I can help support you. Also you should check out my “new to Mac“ playlist for tips on how to best use your computer.
Wow!!!! I’ve been scouring the Internet looking for a tutorial on this app. Until now none have answered all the issues covered in your video. Many thanks - new subscriber.
I'm so glad I could help. Passwords are such a critical piece of technology, and nobody really has a good system to keep them stored organized and easily findable. Apple's not the only one in this game... but for the first version of an app, I think they did a really good job. Please let me know if there are other questions you have that I can answer.
Can you elaborate? It sounds like you’re hoping you never need to buy another computer… And you can live on your phone or iPad. I can certainly help you with that… But I have to know what you’re struggling with or what kind of help you need.
Right now using I am still working on getting more out of Apple Numbers program. I have learned how to do quite a bit, but I feel that there is potential to glean more from my data. You can count on me to keep an eye out for all your videos. I have an iPad Pro with a keyboard and pencil. 15 pro max
That will be pretty hard since I've never used Authy or Google Auth. I can teach people how to migrate from Chrome or from RoboForm... but I have to have used the other products in order to explain how to migrate from them. In my world, I avoid Google whenever possible.
@@TheMacWhisperer I need to go through it again slowly. A long list of your videos is full of videos I need to go through slowly and do what you do. Your music app was amazing. I wasted hours that morning trying to copy my music library to an SSD card. 1800myApple did not find a general method. All the songs are from my own CDs. I loved that you too have oodles of songs like I do. Keep up the good work!
The Passwords app is part of the macOS 15 Sequoia update. If your computer is capable of doing the upgrade I would recommend it. You can find out by going to settings, general, software update. It should be available for most computers from the last 5+ years.
I understand the share password but, if the site has to send a code it comes to my phone so they texy or call for that code. I’d there a way that the code could be sent to them?
There’s a couple of pieces to this. First of all, if you are on a Mac, and using Safari, and have text messaging set up properly… When the code gets texted to you it will pop right onto the website and auto fill itself. On top of that, if you set up an authenticator rather than a verification code you can have that authenticator number present in the Passwords app and auto filled that way. So there are certainly ways to do it… Hopefully that helps.
I previously used 1 Password and switched over completely to Apple Passwords a year ago, when it was still in the settings app. I miss being able to select password types, for example, only 1 special character. Is there a way to toggle these options?
You know, I will have to look into that. I have never used the Passwords app to create passwords for me... I think the randomized password creation systems are just plain stupid and make everything more complicated. If you check out the video at the end of this RUclips video... you can learn more about the password system I use for creating passwords. I'm sure if we dig around there's ways to adjust their automatic password creation system... but I would just create your own system and not use theirs in the first place. Just my two cents. Here's a video discussing my password system (it's a little out of date, but the revised one won't be released for the next few days, so at least this will get you up to speed with how I recommend making passwords.): ruclips.net/video/5vnldITwLDY/видео.html
They sort of did that... you can download and install the iCloud Passwords Chrome Extension here: chromewebstore.google.com/detail/icloud-passwords/pejdijmoenmkgeppbflobdenhhabjlaj But you won't get a Desktop Version of the Passwprds app, you will have to run it through the Chrome extension which is not quite the same. But at least your passwords from Chrome will Sync to your Apple products. As always, the Apple ecpsystem works best when you are fully in it... not halfway there with an iPhone, but no Mac computer. But at least this is functional...
I'm sure it's possible... I haven't seen it happen. Are you using it just on the phone or on the phone and computer? If you have it on the computer, you have more oversight about what's in it and how it stores it, and we can figure out whether things are actually disappearing or not... If you're just using it on the phone, there are fewer options.

I actually just needed the iOS Whisperer. I am hoping that I don’t need to buy another computer.

Thanks for another great video and the advice on password creation.
I'm glad you found it helpful! Good passwords are crucial for security, so it's important to get them right.
Thanks so much for the tip!
You should do a video about how to migrate from Authy or Google Auth to Passwords app.
That will be pretty hard since I've never used Authy or Google Auth. I can teach people how to migrate from Chrome or from RoboForm... but I have to have used the other products in order to explain how to migrate from them.

Great as usual
I'm glad you think so! I really appreciate you watching. Did you get any good takeaways?

Tried to download the app for my computer. Says it's not compatible with my device. I have a macbook air with Sonoma 14.6. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the advice. I’ll watch the video and maybe come up with a new system.
I use Edge?
If I understood question correctly. You can easily override the Apple assigned password when Apple suggests a password.
More than happy with 1Password and all its features. The Apple Password app is ok but not as polished so I’m not ditching 1Password yet.
Why dont they release it for windows and make it work with chrome as a extension?
They sort of did that... you can download and install the iCloud Passwords Chrome Extension here: chromewebstore.google.com/detail/icloud-passwords/pejdijmoenmkgeppbflobdenhhabjlaj

I am sure some of my passwords are randomly vanishing from this app.
