With Thalapathy Vijay, why did he chose this script, I can't understand.The man really had a great balance between commercial and family entertainer (Master, Ghilli, Vettaikaaran, Shahjahan, Poove Unakkaga, Thirumalai, Thulladha Manamum Thullum, etc.).If Varisu is partly enjoyable, it's only because of Thalapathy's conviction to the script.It is this balance between family and commercial entertainer that he maintained seamlessly and efficiently a few years ago. But probably, I think, that when he was in his Ilaya Thalapathy days, those movies were good, or even perfect.Even though his Thalapathy has some good movies also.But I miss Ilaya Thalapathy very much.With Varisu, he has did this family template for umpteen times now.

Even Sunny was a better made and better shot movie (with even less support from supporting voice cast). This was a movie with the same Mohanlal of earlier Shaji Kailas movies (a bad boy that nevertheless easily becomes a woman’s sweetheart, beats up those who harass “his” woman in their office, travels the world without any care, gets drunk, has influential friends that will always help him - logic be damned) that happens to be alone. The “politically correct” dialogues between Manju and Mohanlal were cringeworthy pearls (“You let me call you Eda”, “But that’s me, the lover that believes in gender equality.” 😀).
Like Mohanlal, even Vijay doesn't have family sentiments lineup, I think.Mohanlal isn't working with Ukri or Shaji for sometime now and even Vijay won't work with Vamshi for sometime now😂😂😂🔥🔥. Thalapathy can work with Vamshi, if it isn't too much of family sentiments, and have something new genre.Like Dhanush, Suriya in movies like Asuran, Jai Bhim, etc.Something out of the box.Hopefully, even Ajith shouldn't have Vinoth's lineup for a while.

Even Sunny was a better made and better shot movie (with even less support from supporting voice cast). This was a movie with the same Mohanlal of earlier Shaji Kailas movies (a bad boy that nevertheless easily becomes a woman’s sweetheart, beats up those who harass “his” woman in their office, travels the world without any care, gets drunk, has influential friends that will always help him - logic be damned) that happens to be alone. The “politically correct” dialogues between Manju and Mohanlal were cringeworthy pearls (“You let me call you Eda”, “But that’s me, the lover that believes in gender equality.” 😀).

Like Mohanlal, even Vijay doesn't have family sentiments lineup, I think.Mohanlal isn't working with Ukri or Shaji for sometime now and even Vijay won't work with Vamshi for sometime now😂😂😂🔥🔥.
Thalapathy can work with Vamshi, if it isn't too much of family sentiments, and have something new genre.Like Dhanush, Suriya in movies like Asuran, Jai Bhim, etc.Something out of the box.Hopefully, even Ajith shouldn't have Vinoth's lineup for a while.
