Extreme is the brand new release in the Ideal line from Guerlain. On paper it looks like it should be the best L'homme Ideal fragrance based on my tastes. In this video I will be unboxing a sharing my first impressions.

Another Great Review Chris and thank you very much for the shoutout, much appreciated. It was a relief to see that you also preferred the EDP version. I think you could get by with the EDP and the cologne all year round and no need for any of the other flankers in this line. This was a missed opportunity of producing a truly awesome scent for the winter time by Guerlain.
Hey Paul, absolutely agree! This could have been rich and complex whilst still aligning with the Ideal DNA.
The video is long enough to retain attention, quite informative, and quite fluent and understandable for non-English audience.
The ambience with those lamps and the shelf in de-focus is the best ever I've seen in entire frag-vlogging world.
The light, the sound, and everything is just adorable. Keep going buddy.

Awesome video 💪🏻 I love this line of scent for me all the line from guerlain L'homme ideal it's the best Designer line cost-benefit, I love the EDP and the cologne those are my favorites but I love too the intense and EDT versions I'm exited about this one!!! Cheers from Venezuela
Cologne and EDP are both definitely great creations. I was also hoping to be wowed by Extréme version but apparently it's another 🍋. I've stocked up on the cologne and looking to buy another EDP which seems to be disappeared from this planet. Great honest review my friend.
I've owned it for a few months. It had to grow on me, but now I love it. It is a beautiful smell, longevity is decent and it is a great date fragrance.

Thanks for the honest impressions, Chris. It sounds like they’re sticking to “designer appeal” with this one. Most modern designer fragrances don’t quite “go there” with the boldness their note breakdowns might imply. If this was a more niche/luxury collection, I think it would have nailed it in the way you may have expected. I look forward to checking it out myself.
100% agree Justin it definitely leans on designer characteristics. I'm not really surprised but a small part of me was hoping they'd pushed the boundaries a little more.

Bro keep unboxing these type of fragrances it’s pretty bold and different from blue fragrances that’s my favorite type of fragrance:)
Appreciate the review Chris, I must say your review is 100% on point! I live half the world away in Taiwan and weather is still cool but not cold, at first I thought i didn't spray enough but after many tried with 10+ spray, this fragrance still just doesn't project, honestly the plum almond combo smells nice and inviting but when a fragrance wears the name "extreme" on its sleeve, it shouldn't be this tamed & restrained. Personally i really enjoy it as an office scent and that's about it.
Had high hopes for this one and felt it might have been blind but worth but will definitely be waiting to try in store. Thanks for the first impression

FRAG-MENTAL Definitely. Actually, this might be a video idea in the making - Fragrances that ‘promised’ one thing but delivered another (I know it’s just a twist on previous ideas but there’s only so many themes you can draw on!).

Love these first impression videos, Chris. Hope to see more of them! And there is no need to apologize to your viewers, Chris. As you stated in this video, everyone has their own taste and opinions regarding fragrances...that’s actually one of the things I love about them. For example, why do I have fragrances that I paid like 15 bucks for that I love more than niche fragrances or more expensive designers? I liken it to wine. My wife and I love red wine, and there are bottles of cheapie reds that we enjoy way more than really expensive reds. Meanwhile, wine snobs would laugh in our face! Anyway, thanks again for this. I will check it out, as I love the Ideal line, particularly Cologne. Cheers, and my best to you and the fam! 💪👍🍻

Great first impression Chris I have the cologne and edt both great performers,there is a change in the bottle with no colour band around the outside I’m going to get the edp for winter,I was looking forward to the extreme but think the edp is better going by reviews so far great stuff mate 👍🏻

Great review. I own the EDP and the Cologne as well and have been looking forward to the extreme but looks like it might be a Maybe at this stage.
I would have loved the tobacco to be a bit more potent as well...but thats the way it is.

I was going to blind buy the Extreme at the same time of getting a backup bottle of EDP as I've seen some hipe on the Extreme. I think I will try a sample first before I take the plunge on Extreme 👍
I haven't tried that one yet as it is not in stores. Same thing for Patchouli ardent and I don't feel comfortable blind buying those. So thank you for the honest review ! 😉
However I have the cologne version and I love it. I don't understand why they discontinued it. I may grab also the EDP sooner or later 😊

Can you try a full wear and update? I want to believe it may be different with a full test. Such a great line.
I agree with it sitting closer to the skin compared with the original EDP. I was a bit underwhelmed by it at first, but now I actually do prefer it to the EDP. It does not live up to it's name, Extreme, it is less sweet and projects less. I think both, you and I had the same problem, before I bought the fragrance, I looked up the notes and maybe set my expectations a bit too high, but it has grown on me over time. Definitely would want to know your opinion about it now, has it grown on you or do you still prefer the EDP?
Hey Chris, thanks for the mention mate, really appreciate it. Oh and that pic made me chuckle. 🤣🤣 It’s weird and maybe it’s because I have not have much exposure to the heavy tobacco or leather scents but the main thing I get from this and throughout is tobacco, I find it quite similar to pure havane with tobacco being the main note then they both differences in the back ground. I got an almost gourmand feel out of it too with the almond and plum mixing with what seemed a bit sweet. That’s the beauty of Fragrance, we can pick up different things, maybe I will pick up more things as my nose matures as I experience more. I really enjoyed this and now I am worried about my expectations being to great for the EDP cus I love a boozy nite. I have the EDP but I am yet to open it yet, I have quite a few Guerlain that I haven’t opened so far. Great first impressions. 👍🏻🙏🏻
Hey Barry! Every single person is at a different stage of their journey into fragrance and we all have different tastes and expectations. As a result we all have different opinions and each one is just as valid as the next. These videos are just about our personal honest opinions which is why I urged viewers to watch yours and Pauls videos too. I enjoy the smell but it doesn't excite me. Also it's too much of a skin scent for my tastes but some may love that about it. Have a great day mate.

I always associate cherry and plum accords as leaning towards sensuality, as far as fruits are concerned.
Plum is my favourite note so this one has been incredibly anticipated by me , great to learn your thoughts on this :)

I got the cologne a few weeks ago and have been wearing it regularly. Such a great fragrance for the price. Shame it’s discontinued. Have a 50ml bottle and reckon I will be getting another one soon. So easy to wear.

Fantastic line! Just picked up Cool and it was far better than I expected. I feel it's not getting the love it deserves.
Labelling a scent as "extrême" almost binds the company to deliver a more robust and stronger (projection-wise) version compared to a standard edt or edp.
Definitely, especially when the extreme is usually a lot more expensive than the rest of the line. From an extreme version I would just expect a stronger and longer lasting version of the original

I agree with you Chris. Here in the Netherlands we can go outside and stores are fully opened now (crazy right lol). But i was able to test the Extreme in the store and i also thought it sat close to the skin way too quickly for my liking. I was a tad disappointed though.

Stores are open in my area and it's a mad house. A fight broke out in a department store in just the first day. No one bothered me in the fragrance aisle though which was great haha

The bottle is really beautiful
Took a few wearings for this to grow on me. I think I like it as much as the EDP, maybe just a touch more. I do wish they cranked up the tobacco, leather and plum. Would have made it more special.

Stronger With You Intensely is a beast performer, lasts long and projects wide, the L'Homme Idéal Extreme is so weak.
Hmmm, this is the one i have wanted to try the most this year! hope i would like it more than you?. you must give us an update after some good wears.
The punch is also what I am missing. it smells absolutely great. But it's not a strong one.
It does get plenty compliments tho.
Really recommend you theire Private Blend line. You should really try them out, especially Tonka Imperiale and Spiritouse Double Vanille.

You have no idea how excited I was for this fragrance. Dam I was expecting something dark and sensual and enticing but it sounds like its more soft and tame which isn't bad but disappointing

Ooo this is an interesting scent review. Especially as the predecessor Guerlain L'homme Ideal EDP is a fantastic juice. People seem to love it, a real compliment getter. Funnily enough, the EDT is a completely different scent and I don't rate it at all. It sounds like the Extreme is very underwhelming like the EDT.
The website states
"The Ideal Man is a myth. His fragrance, a reality. L'Eau de Parfum Extrême? A woody oriental fragrance that will allow you to remain a man who is talented to the extreme, for everything."
Ummmmm..... not sure what that means, but later it says that there are hints of those bolder ingredients. So, it seems like they didnt aim to use the boldness as the front player, buy more of a teaser. I'll be interested to try it out. I felt bad cause you were so happy at the beginning of the video. Lol... thanks for the vid!
I just tested both today, and I agree with you, totally, the EDP is much better, stronger, and has a distinctive special scent with that lovely combination of almond, cherry, canilla, tonka, incense, leather,etc .. While the Extreme was nothing special, fade, and very weak, no projection at all, I had to sniff my wrist repeatedly to catch a little whiff.
The funny thing is : two female colleagues prefered the extreme, and could still smell it on my wrist.
I sometimes tend to take female reactions into consideration but there's no way I would buy the extreme, I'm definitely going to the EDP, such a sexy, special, sweet and strong scent.

I sort of agree but also my perspective is from a female side, i checked out all the scents simultaneously at the boutique and the Extreme one was the most noticeable for my nose, after smelling it I couldnt even smell much scent in the rest.
Wanted to get at least one from the line so I got this one, Got it for my husband but came home and tried it on myself, am just in Love, it completely transformed after the first half an hour and now its a sweet almond cherry with deep dark intense tobacco on me, i love it and even love wearing it!

I have a one question for you, because this scent is “RED” kind, can you compare with GUERLAIN “Habit Rouge” EDT/EDP maybe, is there any chance find similarity betwen them?!
Very different from Habit Rouge which is a classic masculine citrus. This is a sweeter darker scent.

I expected an EXTREME longevity for this release 😭. But the scent sounds incredible.
I had the same experience, was difficult to detect I had anything on! Very odd!

I get more almond (which I love) from the EDT compared to the EDP.....so I may stick to the EDT
Original Vybe Promotions I have the EDP, and I’m on the fence about buying the EDT which I haven’t tried. Sounds like the EDT is a really good one.
It's hard to compare anything to Hafez 1984 and not be disappointed. That's an underrated gem!

I have both the edp and extreme and love them both,edp 9 but extreme a 10 all day long and masterpiece,getting 10 to 12 hours with it and 4 hours projection but never dies,so I suppose everyone skin chemistry is different..

It's nice. Reminds me a little of The One in the drydown but it's pretty much just a skin scent for me.
My favorite is L'homme ideal L'intense. Given me really good reactions even some women turned around when I pass them and they walked into my scent trail asking me what is it I'm wearing xD

Just got the extreme.....my first thoughts was really disappointed, this is a huge downgrade compared to the beautiful EDT, hopefully the EDP is better, it will arrive on Monday :)
After 30-60 minutes it has developed to a beautiful scent.
I just got intense yesterday. I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to extreme. I have all of them except for cool and extreme. Sport is my least favorite of the bunch
I have the cologne which is excellent...curious, of the cooler weather iterations of this line, which 1 would choose if you could only have 1?
Tried Sport as a body spray in hot/sweaty conditions, where it really shines?

Nicely done, still to try this, seems a bit tepid, i had 100ml bottles of the original and edp but sold them as I wasn’t using them and found them rather boring and weak, i only currently have the cologne version which is the freshest but best performer weirdly enough 😁

It sucks that Guerlain’s US site only offers the EDT, Intense, and Cool.
And doesn’t allow you to order directly from Guerlain

Got Cologne and EDP. I didnt love Cologne at first, thought it smelt of granny’s but love it now. Extreme is on my most wanted list so thanks for reviewing

For me you can't beet the original for projection, the edt really leaps of my skin and lasts a while to. 👍🏻

@@shoesnob7987 I just found the edt to have better projection off my skin after testing both, but I would not say the edp is not as good just doesn't project as well off my skin. 👍🏻
