just a month too early
13:12 "Two Shrek nudes remain lost" is not a sentence I ever though I would hear. (Yes, I realise that the CN bumper characters were probably spelled differently, but it definitely sounds like naked Shrek)

The Chris Farley version of Shrek is one of my favorite pieces of Lost Media I've heard of. Given that that version of the movie was apparently much different from what we ended up with, it makes me wonder just how different things would be if that was the on released. Would it still be the massive franchise and meme legend, how would it affect Dreamworks animation, how different would the landscape of theatrical animated films be, etc.
It's also because of that one scene we have of the film's campfire scene, as I really enjoy Farley's performance as this version of Shrek. I've always been a big fan of Chris Farley's work, so it's interesting to hear him play someone outside of his usual type (that is, big, crazy goofballs prone to slapstick) and I think he did a great job in that scene. Makes me want to hear how the rest of this version would've gone and wish we could've got to seen Farley try more dramatic roles.
Well Poppet, during that time, he was attached to many dramatic and comedic roles, he was even meant to reunite with his Tommy Boy co-star David Spade in a Nickelodeon production.
One of the biggest what if’s
Drugs are one hell of a trip. may he rest in peace.
Yeah, I think the most interesting part of that scene is that Farley is clearly tapping into his own insecurities as Shrek. Farley often saw himself as a "big, ugly monster," which is part of why he had such a drug and alcohol problem. His Shrek feels almost like an allegory for his real-life struggles with self-image.

Fun Fact: Much of the animation for Shrek was already done with Myers's Canadian voice. However, Myers's Scottish voice came to life and the studio had to redo a ton of animation, using a lot of money and resources. They thought it was that good.
I stumbled upon this video m.ruclips.net/video/4BJQsC5pZUk/видео.html
and early on we seem to hear some clips of Mike’s Canadian Shrek mostly animated. I don’t know if people know about this though. Forgive me if this was already common knowledge in the Shrek community.
accents make everything funnier lol

The biggest "what if" in cinema history is Chris Farley as Shrek.
It's tricky to speculate about because if he had finished the movie, he could still had passed away, so they could had recast Shrek for sequels anyway (Assuming this version of the film would had the same success) tho, since the entire movie and characters would be different, maybe on that timeline we would have a third brand new Shrek voice..

There’s supposedly also a lost test screening featuring an early version of Fiona’s design that fell into the uncanny valley so much that kids started crying
I’ve heard about that!! That would be pretty interesting if it’s real.
@General Grievous The Galactic Hero someone made a TikTok about it showing Fiona’s “design” but it was really just an edited photo from the final film
Time to start digging for Uncanny Fiona bones
is it showing how her hair moves, her dress moving, stuff like that? and it's all glitched out and frantic? I remember seeing it on the original Shrek DVD along with a very fuzzy version of Donkey
@@leaf6356 nah, those were some behind the scenes goofs from the final film. This version was allegedly a different design for Fiona that was too uncanny
I worked on one of the original Shrek animation tests when Chris Farley was voicing him. It was a test of Shrek talking about how he's like an onion and has lots of layers. We actually did all the body animation using an early form of motion capture, then hand animated the face. It was a full CG test with a background environment and everything. This was at an animation studio called VisionArt
Can you remember what happened to those tests? it had me intrigued, i mean how it looked
My original comment deleted so if it deletes again I'm not gonna worry about it but I wanted to say that you should talk to the Shrek lost media community about your experiences working on the Shrek animation tests.
Nah, you are just a liar.
Do you still have the test animation? If so can you please send a video of the test animation?
… are you lying now?
Funnily enough, we would get a character voiced by Bill Murray dancing to "I Feel Good" in the Live Action Garfield movie.

I'm concerned what they meant by "Walmart friendly prices" was the game a Grumillion doll- *gunshot*
I'm glad there wasn't a Nic Cage version of Shrek. That would be a meme so self aware it would have broken the time space continuum. Glad they saved him for Croods. Much safer that way.
cage was in croods?

@@sexygirlmax2019 He played the father, Grug.

As of recently, a glimpse of the shrek test has been found, and its not just frames this time, we actually get to see it in action.
It makes me very happy
And now the full thing has been found too
The memeability of Shrek was much much earlier than 2018 and definitely did not originate from ifunny. Shrek had a grasp on meme culture earlier than that around 2013 because of the "shrek is love shrek is life" copypasta from 4chan.
Or even as early as 2010 (when Shrek Forever After was released) because of those Shrek x Shadow drawings
@@BrawlinEntertaintment2K what? Your joking right?
@@Justaguy_21 No, I'm not joking. I think I heard that in a video once, can't remember which one it was though
@@BrawlinEntertaintment2K I remember the Shrek x Shadow fanart. Those were dark times
He was talking specifically about that image used for that meme not Skrek as a meme.
Chris farley probably would’ve been good but mike myers is fantastic.
I have a personal vendetta with seeing the shrek test animation bc as a little kid my family showed me the shrek 1 trailer to see if I wanted to watch it AND IT TERRIFIED ME. The shrek in that test footage is my childhood fear vision of shrek
As a kid I was deeply unnerved by things like test animations of early 3D movies and other such "scraps" that you can find in the extras section of a DVD menu. So, the Shrek extras are just full of these animation tests and errors that include things like eyes and teeth bulging out of the character's skulls, Fiona T-posing and levitating forward while not moving, and Donkey's fur being nonsensically animated, exc. and it was a little terrifying for me as a small kid
It probably looks a lot better in motion. The other screenshots actually look pretty good... but yeah, that one still of Shrek is kind of terrifying lol
It doesn't
The producers of the Oscars do not know who wins. This has been proven by numerous things over the years. The Warren Beatty incident and the scheduling of Best Actor in the 2021 Oscars.
Great vid, Mike! Always sounds like you're smiling while recording
He really does, I never realized it till now
the actual animation files for Shrek are gone, too. all the blu ray and 4k discs come from 35mm film print scans.
unlike pixar for example, they have all the Toy Story files so making the 3d version was as simple as adding a 2nd camera and re-rendering everything.
The Prince of Egypt also counts.
Proof?
I would love to read about how Pixar did the bluray version for Toy Story. It's gotta be interesting to see how they re-rendered everything
I wonder how much faster Toy Story renders today compared to the 90’s?
If Shrek was done in 2d by Amblimation would've been interesting af.
Sad that Amblimation closed so early. This and the Cats adaptation they were working looked really neat.
Shrek is love
Shrek is life
This is my swamp.

There's also an unreleased French Dub of the movie.
it was fully recorded and they changed Shrek's French VA at the very last minute
Rest In Peace Chris Farley, we’re still enjoying your work even the unfinished, you’re one of the best! 🙏

Indeed
A great video, I love Shrek, so this video is just perfection.
Another piece of Shrek lost media I'd like to add is Shrek 2 the video game, the original verison developed by Dice. Because TDK had the license for a few more years, they announced the game in 2003. But, TDK being bought out Take Two, meant they lost the license and it went straight to Actvision.
Good News:The test animation was (partially) found last night
I'd love to watch that test animation with the model backgrounds, even if it didn't work out it sounds like such an interesting visual style.
“They had to nerf him he was too op in the manga" -all things lost
Best line I've ever heard
It makes sense that both the onion scene and the camping scene were both taken from the Farley version because the camping scene references the onion scene.
God as much as I love the Shrek we got, I almost want a full version of the Chris Farley Shrek.
wouldve loved to see farleys full performance.
also seeing that hp commercial with fiona. man i had to fight back some tears.
just brings me back to when i was like 8 or 9 watching shrek on VHS with 0 worries in the world.
i fuckin love/hate being an adult.
The test footage is on RUclips now, at least 9 seconds
personally i think Shrek’s original animated design is much more interesting that his now established design. he looked much more non-human, but his color palette was muddy. i would love to see more concept art and storyboards with his old design!
hell no
I think it’s interesting but it sounds like we lucked out in the end. A shame about the actor dying.
To be honest, the design is pretty cool, but I much prefer the shrek we got, it's too iconic.
Plus, this shrek would Definitely fit into the Oddworld realm among Stranger's Wrath or Abes Oddysee
When I see the model it looks great. The test they did just looks badly executed. Not looking at all as the sculpt. So yes would he cool to see more of the sculpt and concept art with the original design. The concept art for the Chris version also looks really good
"interesting"
I might as will mention one piece of Shrek lost media remember the most, I remember during the commercial boom of Shrek The Third, there was a Gogurt commercial on TV where a boy would drink one side of the tube and stomp on steaming mud which would gross out the girls watching him, but then when he finished the other side of his Gogurt, He wore the exact same gown Fiona wore in the movie with the same girls making fun of him by complementing him, I know the commercial is still online but I remember they're being a second version of the commercial with a different ending, the ending where the boy wants to join the girls and they just leave him behind instead of the one where one of the girls what is the point out something but the boy interrupts her to not say anything
*My father used to work on the early versions of Shrek, and it was quite a ride for him! He was a huge fan of Chris Farley and he barely got through the movie after he died. Rest in peace…*
I'm a huge Shrek fan, and I'm surprised I'd never heard of Royal Riot. Though it definitely wouldn't have held a candle to the multi-game plug n play by Jakks Pacific. It was also 16 bit but it had pinball set to a MIDI legally distinct almost instrumental of All Star mashed up with Funkytown. IR boxing can't beat pinball, man!
"They had to nerf him, he was too OP in the manga" 😂
Still can’t believe some of the test footage was uncovered just a few days ago truly a monumental moment in lost media history
The ratio issue from the donkey commercial actually can be explained. During the era those commercials were being made to signals were still being pumped out in both 4:3 and 16:9 this assisted our transition out of analog signals and into television being broadcast on an all digital signal. Local broadcast stations were a big culprit of this so it's entirely possible this was on Fox or the WB (now the CW) and was on their analog broadcast rather than the digital broadcast.
This reminds me of the terrible shrek treasure hunt game on the ps1, i got gifted when i was younger, which i imagine is probably pretty rare now, as it was so abysmal, but it's interesting to see all the different shrek media lost over the years!
As someone who still owns that game big true
YES! Wasn’t the treasure hunt looking for stuff for a picnic with Fiona? I think they used a similar concept in the second Shrek game.
Update: the “i feel good” animation test has been partially found
it was uploaded in 2010 in a vid titled: VTS
I was quite freaked up by that early Shrek.
We all know the history of lost media will never be orge!
Im glad we have Shrek as he is now. I feel like some kids could get spooked by the test animation.
Bruh Im 22 and I'm spooked by the test animation
Ok, I’m having a bit of a Mandela effect moment here, because I swear I saw a brief clip of the I Feel Good animation test on RUclips when I was a teenager (around the early/mid 2010s)!
I can remember Shrek lip-syncing to the song and walking while dancing in a graveyard (at least at the time it looked like a graveyard. I think it was castle walls and such which I must’ve mistook for gravestones or something). The shot cut to a mid closeup of Shrek every time he lip-synced the lyrics and then it would cut to him dancing. I think it was only about a few seconds or a minute long. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but I tried searching for it after watching this video and only got the full storyboard, a few videos showing stills of the test, and videos talking about it...
I could just be misremembering, of course. Maybe I just got it mixed up with those stills videos or something idk. But if any of you guys remember seeing a clip of the test on RUclips or any other video site, let me know!
No no yeah I saw it too.

yes, we all know about the now found SS ep 847 & it was a massive found for the LM community & if we get lucky, someone could find that snuffy ep & upload it.
Those sculpts are just really interesting and part of me thinks that the test animation was almost a mix of the DK TV show and Monsterjouse with the face/ lipsync moving like stop motion at a lower frame rate and the body movements being that uncanny constantly moving and floaty motion capture
I had an old Shrek game somewhere, the only thing I remember about it was launching sheep out of a catapult/trebuchet. We probably still have it somewhere
I sooooooo want those Shrek brass knuckles now.

I'm come to the future to say the screen test footage was found!
why do i feel like i read this book as a kid
I have a vague memory of seeing a super early trailer or something in theaters. Like years before I remember seeing Shrek ads show up. During the movie trivia stuff they played this clip of Shrek, but he went by Shriek. And all I can remember is someone asking him why he went by that, and he said something along the lines of "because that's what everyone does they see me, they shriek in terror". Maybe this was a fever dream or something I'm misremembering, but the memory is there. I always wonder if for some bizarre reason I saw an early concept for the Chris Farley version. It wouldn't be unheard of, they used to do that all the time back then, just run whatever on the projector to kill time before the movie. I will probably never know.
The stuff of nightmares that could easily be a horror game getting chased down alleyways with an arms stretched shrek screaming James Brown songs
“They had to nerf him, he was too op in the manga”

Rockman.EXE is an anime series based on the Rockman video game franchise by Capcom. The show was produced by Xebec and aired for 56 episodes on TV Tokyo between March 2002 and March 2003. It spawned follow-up seasons and a theatrical film. In North America, Viz Media licensed the series and funded an English dub of the first two seasons by the Vancouver-based Ocean Productions under the name Mega Man NT Warrior between 2003 and 2005.
A separate English dub was created for the Asian market. Produced in Singapore by Voiceovers Unlimited, the series debuted locally on Kids Central in September of 2005 and on an unknown Malaysian channel.[1][2] It starred Chio Su-Ping, Christian J. Lee, Jamie Meldrum, and Denise Tan.[3][4] It's not known how many episodes were produced.
The series was allegedly released on VCD, including in Malaysia by PMP Entertainment.[Notes 1] However, these releases have long gone out of print and are not easy to obtain. No footage of this dub is available online.
On July 3rd, 2019, Twitter user MidniteW posted a tweet saying that he had obtained episodes 1-29 of the series in the Singaporean English dub.[5] MidniteW then tweeted out clips from some of the episodes.[6][7][8].
On August 29th, 2019, Twitter user ApolloDubArchive posted a tweet saying that they are now in possession of episodes 30-56 of the series.[9] Then on December 16th, 2019, ApolloDubArchive uploaded episodes 30-56 on their website to download.[10] But it wouldn't be until February 6-18, 2021 where the series would be uploaded in it's entirety on Telegram.

Really great video!! I found this because I've been searching for another lost Shrek game, but the one I'm looking for was a browser game for Shrek 2! In it, you're looking for potion ingredients to make donkey a horse, and you explore to find them. I remember having to get a hairball, a mole from the ugly stepsisters, a wishbone, a tusk in the tavern..... I've found a few threads about it that shows I didn't make it up, but I haven't been able to find any actual physical evidence of it. Some people brought up the Shrek 2 magic potion maker game on the flash archive but that's much simpler and definitely not it, I played it to check. Does anyone else here remember it?
