This was actually the first league vid that made me cry. The fact the Amumu is also immortal made it even more depressing. "He shall be alone until his end".
I read that when Amumu's brother died (assuming him-being-part-of-the-Shuriman-royal-family story is canon), a servant girl rushed into his bedroom to comfort him after telling him about the sad news. Amumu hugged her but pulled himself back when he realized that she will get his disease and die. The girl died. The girl's grandmother then put a curse on Amumu; everything he touches will rot or die.
I believe this is the first music video ever produced by Riot Games' music team (this was created by the guy who's the main co-director of Arcane who used to be on the music team). In regards to Amumu's lore, it's actually undecided at the moment. We don't officially know if he is a Yordle or if he was a prince/king of Shurima (the desert kingdom) a millennia ago. We are all waiting for a lore update for him. He is one of the most precious champions in League of Legends. His attacks in the game are actually him trying to hug people, crying constantly and his ultimate ability is the tantrum you see in the video. Some Amumu quotes: "Let me give you a hug." "Let's be friends forever." "Hey, come back." When you pick him as your character: "I thought you'd never pick me." He's just so sad & adorable 😢 Also almost all his skins in the game are tragic. I recommend looking at the splash art of them to get some extra sad feelings and wanting to hug him even more 😭
We all cry, even to this day after watching many times it almost gets me. The performance is too beautiful, with lyrics this sad, there's no way around
My head cannon is that Amumu is the magic wielder that Heimerdinger sees in his flashbacks of the destruction magic causes. The imagery at the end of the music video is almost an exact match of Heimerdinger's flashbacks. Same color scheme with the same imagery of a dark figure with a yellow-ish glowing aura around them
Just effing remembering this, made me sad af. When this was released, I saw a rise in Amumu players. I was delighted but his W and E whenever I saw it from the game, it's just man please don't be sad. W is called Despair. (Gosh the reference in 3:15) The animation of the W is literally in a pool of tears in the game. Then E is called Tantrum. (Again, League of Legend, I like your reference; 4:10) Like in 3:10, he swipes his surrounding 'enemies' with his bondage. In such a lonesome life, I would like a friend too. But being incapable or forcibly cannot have friends because I have a curse in which a single touch can be the death of my potentially love ones, I would be simply... sad. The creators really wanted an angsty character. If Riot didn't just create Valorant, I would still be playing League of Legends. I do play LoL but not as often as before. Thank you for the reaction!
