  • The 2nd Acura TL in my collection needs to get the transmission working properly and sold! I replace shift solenoids 3 & 4 and add Super Transmission Fix to the fluid. The results? Do I need to drive it for a long time for the Trans Fix to work??

One trick I’ve used back in the day when a transmission is slipping after a fluid change is to put back the old fluid. It has most if not all the clutch material that was floating in it.

Very interesting! It makes sense since people sometimes say don't change the fluid since it does have all that stuff in it.

Sam. Great to see you. I had good luck with Lucas…..for about a month. Then needed to replace transmission. Appreciate the videos.

Too bad. Sometimes that's all that these additives can do is extend the life just for a little. Did you drain the old fluid first and put fresh in and then the additive?

@@GTSam Great question. I replaced 3 quarts and 1 qt was Lucas Trans Fix. Worked great for approximately a month. I drained 3 QTs after failure and the fluid was black. Entirely ruined.

@@GTSamAnd to elaborate on the transmission fluid on its last change before being rebuilt. It smelled exactly like you said! Entirely A$$! Black. Burnt. Fried.

I hear ya. It's super common. This one, weak. My own personal TL trans is AMAZING though. I treat it so well though so it's lasted 270,000 miles and still going.
So, gonna have to see what we can do next. What do you think?

I had a 06 TL that did the same thing after I switched the pressure sensors & replaced fluid. Ended up getting it rebuilt then it messed up again 3 months later lol

It's worth a try to change the filter and fluid. Not a flush but adding in some trans fix can help the longevity and can HELP but not cure and fix it. Can either clean the solenoid or buy new but they get pricy. After all is done, you drive around a little to let it all circulate and should start coming back to life.
I have done drain, fills, cleaned magnets and changed filters a lot and it really changes things but, again, if yours is degraded so much, the trans fix can help but maybe not like 30,000 miles.
