  • Shootout of 2 of my favorite pickups in the same model bass with the same strings and tuning.
    Not my best playing.
The white bass has the Sixties P which is hot wind with alnico magnets. The brown bass has the Relentless "middle" model - the one with no pole pieces. Although the Relentless shows a lower DCR, it is much hotter and has ceramic magnets. You can hear it drives the amp model into distorted territory.
Both basses have had electronics replaced with 500k volume and tone pots and a .47 capacitor.
The Sixties P has more treble overall and is a little easier to get to be clean.
The Relentless is well... Relentless. The pickup has a treble rolloff and a pretty aggressive upper mid. I really dig it and it is the hottest pickup I have ever had in a bass. I also lowered this further away from the strings than the Sixties P. Still louder.
All recorded into Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 into Reaper.
