I just bought a brave 7 LE and don't think from the reviews of other action cameras... ESPECIALLY GOPRO'S, that I'd EVER pay an extra $260 more for that camera!!! My $118.99 was well spent.
You are very correct. The GoPro has only slightly better video quality. The thing I like the most about GoPro if the water proof that you get without any extra cases. But I agree. These cameras have outstanding video quality.
Seriously, before I look to this video, I found this cam anoying. But you're explanation on the parameters and fonctionnality makes me excited to use it again. You're right, sound is bad but the remote control, even if it's on the box, is not an extra because it seems I can't put the camera on. But it is really a camera that I will definitively appreciate. Thank you very much for this video.
Thank you for watching and for the comment, I really do appreciate it. Yes, the audio isn't good. But I don't use the audio out of any of my cameras, including my Canon 90D, without plugging in a good quality mic. And even then, I normally use my Zoom h1n and Sony lapel mic for all of my outdoors audio. But for what these cameras cost, the video quality you get and their features are very good. You can use the Akaso for a vlogging camera and your video quality will be good. Other than my GoPro though, I still recommend the XTU X1 action camera, if you can afford to go the extra money.
I've looked and looked for a no frills, simple but thorough tutorial in the workings of this camera. Finally found it here. Thanks! I'm starting a channel that's indoor and about an idiot animal I have (no, it's not my wife). So to pull it off I figured I would need multiple cameras strategically placed . It turned out my timing was perfect because I picked up three of these at Amazon for $111.00 ea., about the cost of one GoPro I believe. Now the only thing holding me back is learning how to edit, so I'll be recording until that time and will have plenty to edit when I learn. Thanks again, 8 )
And editing is an art. There is no "one way to do it right" or "correct procedure"... You learn the basics and use you touch of flare for the finnally. I've made several video tutorials on using NCH VideoPad editing software and mention that several times in those tutorials.
@@HayesTech Thanks, I'll look into that. We had a rescue for cats we ran for twenty years. Stop doing that when we left Detroit some fifteen years ago and the wife and I thought it was time for a "little one" in our home again. I researched (Google, YT videos and vets) Savannah cats for more than a year and decided to get one. I thought of starting a channel about him because after watching what seemed like every video out there on the breed, I never seen one with close to the personality this one has. I figured the hardest part about conveying that personality on video will be the editing because it wouldn't seem to difficult to place cameras and record what we see and our interactions with him. We wound up naming him, Shredder, so I thought a good name for the channel would be, Shredded. Thanks for your input and your open ear. After all, you replied to a comment on a video you perhaps had forgotten about by now.
@@Glasher1 I always check the replies and try to answer everyone. I like my channel being small enough that I can still do that too. You take care and good luck to you and your kitty cat.
Thank you for the tutorial I just received my Akaso 7 LE without manual to give information on how to use the front screen but you already explain it well, Watching from Palau.
I'm glad I was able to help and thank you for watching and the comment. I've got many things planned, for content this year, but right now I'm taking a small break till things warm up. Man I hate the cold...lol... Also, with things the way they are in the world today, is rough financially for everyone. So being able to purchase the items for reviewing will take a little more time. But be assured, the videos will be coming. Thanks again.
I bought this camera last year but I never used it coz I don’t know how it works. Now because of this video I have an idea and will try to use it. Thank you for the information and review. I appreciate it.
Hi. Power frequency doesn't let you "record in 50Hz or 60Hz" and it doesn't have any influence on video quality. This is supposed to eliminate flicker when shooting indoors. You need to synchronize it with your power grid frequency (60Hz in the US, 50Hz in Europe).
Thanks for the information. I'm not a pro in photography or videography so I was taking a guess at best with that. I usually set everything to 60htz because most of my cameras are already set there and it works for me. Thanks again for the info.
One thing that anyone using the remote control should keep in mind. If you have the screensaver enabled and it has been long enough for the screen to blank out, you have to press the remote once to cancel the screensaver and then a second time to perform a function. This quirk cost me some video footage on my last trip. I had the camera mounted on the passenger side, rear window of the Jeep where I could not see it. I had the screensaver set for 3 minutes. From the driver's seat I pressed the record button on the remote and since it had not been 3 minutes of inactivity the camera started recording. When I got to a boring section of the trail I pressed the remote button assuming the camera stopped recording but since it was over 3 minutes and the screen had gone blank all that happened is the screen woke up and the camera kept recording. Now the camera and my brain are completely out of sync. Less than 3 minutes from that point I reached another place I wanted to record so I press the remote again but this stopped the recording. I have since started turning off the screensaver when I know I am going to be using the remote or at least remember that if it has been long enough for the screen to blank out it is going to take 2 presses on the remote to start or stop recording. I guess this should not be a surprise since the record button on the camera acts the same way but I sure missed this operational quirk. Hopefully this helps someone else not miss some video they thought they were getting.
You are very correct. If the screen goes out, touching the stop button in the remote just walked the screen up. You will have to hit the stop button again, after it wakes, to stop recording. The same holds true if the screen is off and you want to record. I noticed my GoPro Hero 7 Black is the same way. One way to stop this is to disable the screen from shutting off. But remember that this will have an effect in your battery usage. Thanks again for the comment, we all really appreciate the information.
@@HayesTech Interesting that your Hero 7 takes 2 pushes to start or stop recording once the screensaver has activated. Neither my Hero 6 or 7 does that. On either GoPro it takes only one press of the record button to turn on the screen and start or stop recording. They both turn the screen back on as soon as the record button is pressed but the Hero 6 starts or stops recording quicker than the Hero 7 does. There is a 1 or 2 second delay before the Hero 7 reacts. I get the same results with voice command. It does not matter if the screensaver is active or not they both start or stop recording when asked to do so. The Hero 6 is immediate and the Hero 7 thinks about it for a second and then acts. You have to love electronics! There is always something that you wonder why. As for the Akaso Brave 7, I have just learned to not use the screensaver because the battery life is so good anyway.
@@airmail793 sorry, what I meant was after touching the screen. Not hitting the button. I use the touch screen more than the buttons. Sorry again for screwing up my comment... That's my stroke brain kicking in...lol...
Thank you for the explanation and walk through. I know it was super helpful. Finding a video with the explanation you provided was hard to find. Thank you
You are very welcome. I've done so many videos on thier cameras, I figured I would do extra videos going deep into this model and it's settings, since it's their most popular model. Going to review one of their budget cameras soon too. They run around $60.00 to $70.00. Look for that video soon.
Really appreciate your presentation in this video. I've been using this camera for a couple of months, it's true that you have to be careful on the bright contrast setting, but surprisingly when the background is bright and colourful the images turn out to be very sharp, other than that the faces are dark. So set to normal is the best. Now I use 1080P60fps most of the time and it's great. Thanks again.
Thank you. I try to make videos the way I would want to see them and I like to get as much info as I can get. Some hate the longer video but I can't please everyone...lol.. Thanks again for watching and for the awesome comment.
I've bought this camera in 2024. And regarding to the audio options, it is a little different menu settings, in the menu you show in 19:15, it has the additional option Microphone, so you can change it to Built -In/External. I don't know if it just a new firmware or the physical device has changed. Just to let you know.
@@morganfayel9329 I've noticed that a lot of the newer, budget oriented cameras, have steered away from having an external mic source. I don't know why but a lot are not coming with any mic jack support. Thats a shame, in my opinion, as adding the capability of external mic support opens up way more possibilities for their use and customer base. Just my opinion.
Better late than never my friend!!! I just stumbled on this video and just got the 7 LE. I was going to return it right out of the gate because it absolutly SUCKED in my basement! I caught what you said about EV settings. I changed them into negative and now it matches my phones camera on my S22+ in my basement! Thank you for this, I will be keeping this camera now! Oh, and by the way you are the ONLY one who has said this about low light and shows or says what it helps!! It proves some of these that compare or review have only some idea of everything they should... Thank you and now SUBBED! 😁
Thank you for the sub and for the kind words. Yes, on any camera, you may have to adjust your EV settings to get the right lighting effect for what you are working in. Whether it's inside, outside or even in bright or forecast skies it helps with evening out your cameras for any lighting situation. Thanks again.
Bought the Brave 7 last week on price and features and although the picture / video quality seems good the audio quality is shockingly poor. Would have thought even at this price point it would have been usable. Also disappointing that it has to be in the case to attach to stuff a tripod like connector in the base of the camera itself would have been good. Also shame you cant just plug it into a PC / laptop to download files off it like a removable hard drive. Great honest and thorough video. Good to see the modes etc actually demonstrated so can see how it works. Have now subscribed.
Did you get the Brave 7 LE? They make another one now that's named very close to the Brave 7 LE, but their new one is water proof without the case, like the other cameras I've reviewed. As for the audio, I never use the audio coming out of the cameras, no matter how much they've improved it. I always use an audio recorder with a good mic, if you plan on uploading to RUclips or some other platform. I want too thank you for the subscription too. I really do appreciate it. And thanks again for watching and commenting.
Fantastic video, you made the settings seem so simple. I've copied all the settings that you use, if they're good enough for you then they will be good enough for myself. Thank you for your time.
@@MathieuTechMoto Im working on my panasonic 4k videos camera I just picked up and am having a hell of a time with the 4k editing on that one. It records in a high speed and makes it tough. Lol. That video should be out soon.
SERIOUSLY MAY GOD BLESS YOU WITH A LONG HAPPY HEALTHY RICH LIFE. This video answered the questions I couldn’t get answered anywhere else and have been searching on and off for months. I bought this camera and when I got it, it was basically useless to me because I couldn’t navigate the menus. The instructions manual was useless. I felt I wasted my money and i was so sad. Finally you actually show and explain how to get through the myriad menus. I owe you so much friend. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this video.

Wonderfully done especially for a newbie like me . It is so much better than the "instruction manual". Please make another video explaining ALL the included accessories. Thank you.
I never thought to make a video showing the use of all the accessories. I rarely use any of them. In video 1 though, I do at least show all of them... Thanks again for watching and for commenting, I do appreciate it.
Thanks a lot for doing this video. Very informative. I watch most of your videos and I actually bought this camera because of your review. Keep up the good work.
How do you like the camera? My views may be slightly different from others. But either way Akaso makes great cameras for the price. Thanks again for the positive comment and don't forget, as soon as I hit 5000 subs I am giving away my Canon t6i.
What video settings have you found for the best looking quality? The default settings are too saturated in my opinion. The greens looked blown out. My favorite settings so far has been 4K 30fps, Video Quality - High, EV - 0, Distortion Calibration - ON, White Balance - White Fluorescent. The White Fluorescent is the key. The rest is preference. Somebody give this setup a try and let me know what you think.
I don't remember exactly which one it was that I used but If didn't use the default color profile. I don't change anything else either. I'm one of the videos I did with this camera I go over that though. I just can't remember which video that was, as I did 3 videos on it
Thank you so much. I just got the updated Brave 7 and there’s no setting available at RUclips. Im not techy 😕 so I’m hoping the settings are very similar to the LE. Thank you so much.
This answered EVERY single one of my questions, I Love this camera, only issue i have so far is i took it on some mountain bike trails, had it mounted to my handle bars, and the video seems really choppy, i'm wondering if the bumps were too much
Be careful, I found that if your video looks like the image stabilization isn't working, it's probably turned off. By default it's off and sometimes, after a reboot, it will resort back to it's default settings. That's The one thing I don't like about Akaso. But other than that I love these action cameras.
I'd like to cut down on wind noise being recorded and will use a small piece of microphone foam and some double stick tape to attach it. Should I cover the mic holes with the tape or cut pieces around it? My thinking was that if I cover the mic holes it will cut out audio recording completely. Great video BTW, very helpful. Thanks!!
Thank you very much for the positive comment. As it goes for microphones and cutting out wind noise, just putting on a good, thick piece of foam around the mic itself works great. But the thing that really works best for wind noise is to use that fake hair. They sell it specifically for covering microphones. You might want to try that too. But don't use foam and the fur together as it will really muffle your audio recording. Bottom line is try different things and see what works best for your specific recording scenarios. I'll bet the fake fur/hair will work the best. Foam works best for getting rid of popping noises from saying words that start with "P" and "T"...
Hayes Audio. Thanks you very much for this video. You have helped me very much learning the various functions. The video is a keeper. I liked, subscribed and hit the like button in appreciation. Concerning the Akaso, there is a door on the side of the camera closest to the lens. It has two plug ins. I think one may be the mic jack. Again... thanks.
I checked into that and couldn't get a good answer. But you could be right about that. I tried the mic from my Akaso V50 Pro and it did not fit (different shape USB). Thank you so much for the kind words and for subscribing too. I really do appreciate it.
I agree. Although I do have a couple Go pro cameras, I usually grab these because I'm not so worried about losing it breaking them. And the video quality is very good.
So after watching your videos I ordered this camera and I have mixed emotions about it. On any settings above 1080p all my videos look, idk, "grainy" or like I shot them on an old VHS..... I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong or if something is defective. Now 1080p and lower are what I would call acceptable but not even close to a GoPro. That's why I'm watching the settings video you did "THANK YOU" but still stuck. Maybe you'll read this and offer any possible assistance. Thanks for the Videos BTW.
That is weird. All the videos I shot in this series, that came from the Akaso, was done in 4k 30fps, with stabilization on. So if your videos aren't as nice as mine, then something if wrong with your camera. Also, I was using all automatic settings, as far as video settings go. Auto ISO, and no post editing.
Thank you. I do appreciate the positive comments. Don't forget about my giveaway coming up as soon as I hit 5000 subs. I'll be giving away my Canon T6i.
Yes, there is an external mic and one of the other videos I made on this camera shows it. I didn't find the quality of the mic to be that good though. Again, this was just my preference and others may find that mic to be completely usable.
Yes there is but it's not like a DSLR in how you do it. It's under "settings" . Scroll down until you see EV. That basically does the same thing as ISO. But there are no ISO settings. You basically hit the + it - until you get the right exposure that you need.
Hayes, you do a excellent job with your videos appreciate your efforts. I picked this camera up for my grandson, mainly because of its beefy solid build hoping it would take some wear and tear for his first action camera. Have to say I have been very disappointed in its image quality and stabilization, a total miss on this camera for the most important points of a action camera. Build quality is very good, touch screen and menu very good, lots of accessories, two batteries, that is about all this camera got right. My years old Git up cameras take much better quality video and pics than this cam. Hoping software can correct some of the mediocre video from this camera.
That's too bad it wasn't good enough video quality for you. I thought that mine wasn't that bad. I've heard that the quality in these budget GoPro knock offs can be hit or miss. So I'm sorry yours was a bad one. I would definitely send it back for either another one or a refund.
That's awesome. I think mine came updated already but I don't use the audio from my cameras anyways. But I am glad to hear that you're camera is working great for you.
This video was so very helpful-thank you!! Is this camera supposed to be able to send photos / videos via wifi? I can't figure out how to use the wifi feature. I was hoping it could send videos via wifi as I am planning to edit on my iPad 4th generation. Thank you again!
Someone else asked me that and unfortunately I don't have an answer since I don't transfer my files that way. I use a Windows laptop for all my editing and just pull the SD card for transferring. A lot of newer laptops don't have an SD card port now, so in that case I have an SD to USB adapter. You stick the card into that, then plug it into your laptop. detailed video.. very helpful. Just bought this camera for a road trip. I have mounted the camera on a windshield mount. when I take a video it seems to focus on the windshield glass rather than the outside as in road and the trees. Have you experienced something like this. Is there a way to change what the camera focusses?
It shouldn't be doing that since these cameras have a fixed focus. Most all of these action cameras, even GoPro have a fixed focus. I would try cleaning your windshield or moving it either closer to the window or farther away, to see if that makes a difference.
I have tried everything possible that makes sense. Even if I take a video outside of the car it still does not focus. Could it be, that the focus on the camera is not working/damages. any thoughts?
@@pukarrisal1522 Yes, my guess is that camera has an issue with it's lens. If you just got it, I would try sending it back because it sounds to me like the lens is faulty. This does happen, though I've never heard it from ones of these camera brands. The Akaso cameras usually have a very good track record of being a very reliable camera. I've seen this is one XTU camera, the cheaper one, but never an Akaso. But like XTU, I'm sure they will back their products up and I know Amazon does. Good luck with that and let me know how it goes for you.
@@pukarrisal1522 Good deal. Make sure you explain to them that the lenses in these cameras are in infinity focus. I'm sure they already know this, but I would bring it up just so they know, that you know this as well. These type of cameras lenses are in focus with everything and do not have an area that should be out of focus.
I have basically no sound when I’m replaying a video on the camera itself. Am I missing something somewhere by the way this is a great video. Thank you very much.
In settings make sure that the volume is turned up the whole way. But I just checked mine and I can barely hear the recording when played back on the camera too. I just don't think the camera has a very good speaker. As long as the audio is there when played on your computer you should be good to go. And thank you so much for the comment and for watching. I really do appreciate it.
The way I would do it would be to pull the micro SD card and put the videos on my PC. Then if you want it on your phone just plug your phone into the PC and transfer the videos to the phone. You can also use an adapter for you phone that allows you to read an SD card. I have 2 of them, 1 in standard USB and 1 in USB C. These adapters allow you to access stuff on an SD card from any phone. The adapters are cheap too. You can get them from Amazon for under $10.00.
I'm not sure. From what I understand You have to use a proprietary microphone made by Akaso . I recommend using a Zoom H1n or any other audio recorder and then using the microphones of your choice.
I did mention it but yes, U didn't demo it. That feature takes out the warping effect that action cameras give you. But if you use that feature, you can't use any image stabilization. That's why I didn't really demo that feature. Sorry about that.
@@HayesTechMy apologies. I wish I could send you a pic of my problem. I have 2 of these cameras but when both on the same settings 4k-30 on the rear screen, one is darker than the other. Do you have an email 📧
@@MrElvisr27 Yes. davidehayessr@gmail.com Even if the 2 cameras are identical, the exposure comp may have to be set differently. It all depends on angles and even how exact the lenses are mounted from the factory. But again, exposure comp should fix that.
Thank you so much for the awesome comment I do appreciate it. As for the audio, when filming outside, I used my Sony lapel mic recording into my Zoom h1n audio recorder. When I'm inside I'm using my Blue Yeti mic and Audacity as the recording software. I hope that helps and I can highly recommend both these microphones to this day.
Hey I don’t understand how to keep the camera rolling on it’s own without it pausing the video and the screen going black. I just want it to keep rolling.
It should keep recording until you hit stop. It does create several shorter video clips though you can still connect them all together and you will not lose any time. I think they are like 5 or 10 minutes long. The screen shutting off doesn't stop it from recording either. Just touch the rear screen again and it will come back on. In settings you can change the screen saver settings, I usually set mine too not shut off.
@@alexang2851 I don't use those remotes, sorry about that. But it should be straight forward, unless they are requiring an app or something. Make sure the remote has a good battery is what I would check. Other than that, they work off an older style operating connection system. Also check settings, in the camera, to see if you have to turn on the remote function.
I just pull out the SD card and put the card right into my PC. Oh you don't have an SD port on your PC and only have a USB C port, then use one of those SD to USB adaptors. They are very cheap and work great.

I actually tried to use the WiFi and had issues with it. That's why I didn't include it in the video. It wasn't any worse than the issues I had with all the cameras like this one. For some reason the WiFi on these budget GoPro clones aren't as good as what's on my actual GoPro. But I will look into it and see if it's something on my end or something I'm not doing right. But to be honest, my GoPro connects fast and stays connected.
The way I do it now, which is 10 to 20 times faster than WiFi, is pull out the SD card from the camera and use my SD card adapter. It plugs right into my phone and has both a full size and micro size SD card port. This allows me to move the videos straight from the card into my videos folder on my phone's storage. Lo siento, pero no sé español. Usé un enlace de traducción en el navegador Google Chrome. Necesitas usar una grabadora de audio con un buen micrófono. Hello there, i just bought this camera it is good, what do you think the best settings are for close up(12 inches from subject) it seems to be slightly out of focus.
It's ment to be a certain distance away from the subject anyways. I always crop in of where I want a super close shop. And it shooting in 4k allows you to crop in without losing image quality
Yes, it is in settings and you can set it up to not shut off at all. I'll have to look it up but this video should show where you go for that. I'll get back to you.
@@alexang2851 Most of these, more affordable action cameras, have a defAult setting that it goes to once the camera is powered off. I'll look into this and get back to you. But cameras like GoPro are more in line with having settings that are remembered. I'll get back to you on this.
@@alexang2851 If you go into settings (bottom right of the screen) and then tap the video icon (the top one) scroll down to "Loop recording" or driving mode. Yes you can. It's called something like "screen off" or "screen time out". But yes you can. I think the shortest setting is 30 seconds and the screen shuts off.

If anyone is having the same issue that I was: not finding the Effect setting in the menu. If White Balance is on anything other than Auto, the Effect setting won’t appear. Try setting the WB to Auto, exit out of the settings menu then go right back and the Effect setting should reappear.
Not that plugs directly into the camera. You have to use their proprietary mic and I actually bring that up in the video, that they should have made it so you could use any mic with a 3.5mm jack instead of having the USB plug. I use my Zoom H1n audio recorder (@ $70.00) to record audio when using this camera.
You know what i noticed about this camera? When i put the files on my phone and open up my gallery, the video doesn't appear on gallery. I guess is cuz of the format.. but when i put the files on a new folder outside the DCIM (camera) folder, it allowed me to see the file and play it.. weird af lol computer plays the files fine so i know the vids aren't corrupt.
That is weird. I don't use my phone for editing videos or watching them. I'll have to try that and see what's going on. But your right about these cheap cameras using a different video format to save the videos as. Even GoPro uses a different video format but it's more cellphone friendly.
Are you shooting indoors or outside? If outside, there is something wrong with your camera (if you are shooting in 1080p or 4K). Without enough light, like shooting indoors sometimes, the video will be grainy. But with plenty of light, like outside, there should be none. My settings are: 4k 30fps and everything set to auto. I have image stabilization on as well. Hope that helps.
@@deardaughter It doesn't take much to light your shots indoors too. Even lamps work well, just take off any shades on the lamps. Use as many as you can too, the more the better.
just received the camera , recorded video but i don't seem to be able to download video via usb cable. when i connect it the computer said it acknowledge the device but didn't show it on devices ?
I never do it that way. I always pull the SD card and insert the card into my laptop. So I can't help you with file transfer issues doing it the way you do. Sorry about that.
@@HayesTech thanks for the reply, as usual my son showed me how to do it . Plug the cameras usb cable into the computer , go into the camera's setting and select MMSD which tells the computer to read the cameras SD card ..... no opening the battery compartment . Also, is there a setting that might make the colors brighter ?....Thank You for the 3 part segment you did , it help me make my purchase decision .
@@manuelsimon6579 Great. Yes that would be another way to do it. But since I had the game box, that worked for me. Usually though, I'm pulling out my SD card and putting the videos into my laptop for editing. But I'm glad you were able to watch your videos.
That's a good question that I don't have an answer for. Ok, I just went back and dug out that camera to check and I did not see any thing in the settings for verbal commands. My guess is, that's why they give you the remote control. You wear it on your wrist like a watch.
Thank you very much for commenting and watching. The reason the update wasn't mentioned in this, or any of my action camera videos, is because I've not updated any of my action cameras yet. The only ones I've updated are my GoPro cameras , and thats because GoPro makes it so easy to do, using their proprietary app. If you have upgraded your Akaso, show how you do that and I will link that, in a pinned comment, for everyone eles to see.
@@HayesTech I have not unboxed my Akaso Brave 7 LE yet. When I do, I will check for an update (need to figure out how to do that too). I agree with you regarding GoPro's easy updating process. I have the GoPro Hero 10 Black.
@@TC_Conner I want to get the Hero 10 Black too. I heard they are very nice. My newest one is the Hero 7 Black. Be sure to let us know how the updating goes for you, as soon as you figure out the process. Again, I will pin this post for others that may want to update their camera too.
I enjoyed the video. I have the Brave 7LE and the V50 Pro SE. They both do a nice job. Will they replace my GoPro Hero 6 and 7? No, but they do the job when I need and extra camera angle. You show touching the upper left corner to bring up the video resolution settings. My camera does not do that. It just removes the settings icons from the screen. I have to swipe up from the bottom to get the resolution screen. I wonder if this is a software version difference. I am running Jun 4 2020 V1.0. I do think you have the EV explanation backwards at the beginning. Going to a minus EV setting cuts the light. You go to a plus EV setting to increase the brightness. A setting of minus 1 will cut reduce the brightness by one stop. Reducing the light by 1 stop cuts the light in half. A setting of minus 2 reduces the light by 2 stops and that let's 1/4 as much light reach the sensor. Action cameras do not have adjustable iris so it is just turning up or down brightness in software but the same principle applies. You got it right a little later in the video. Thanks for the video. I am subscribing to your channel.
Awesome, you have a really good cameras. And yes, your right in how the EV settings work on these type of cameras. And thank you much for subscribing,I really do appreciate it.
@@HayesTech Thanks for the reply. Any thoughts on the apparent operation differences between your Brave 7 and mine with regards to how we bring up the resolution screen? You can click the upper left corner and I have to swipe up from the bottom of the screen. If I click the upper left it is just like touching any other blank space on the screen and the icons just clear off the screen. What version firmware is in your camera? I went to the Akaso site to see what the current version is and found an interesting disclaimer. It basically says "If your camera works, do not upgrade the firmware. If you upgrade and it breaks your camera, Akaso does not care and it is too bad for you." It seems odd that they include a firmware option in the app and then have the above policy.
@@airmail793 my guess is that was messed up slightly in editing. Yes, I have to swipe up too. I'll pin this comment so others will see this too. Thanks again for letting me know.

I don't know because i never updated my firmware on this camera. I'm running what ever the camera came with when purchased last year. I'll have to look into that and see if others are having the issue you are getting
@@HayesTech after playing around with it some more, I hit the touchscreen in the bottom middle and it went into the menu screen for the options, just as in your video- So it's all good - 👍
No. It will stay on what you see it on until you change it to something else. Like if you're running stabilization then go to 1080p 120fps, the stabilization turns off. You will need to go back in and turn on stabilization once you switch back to 60fps or lower. Hope that answers your question. And thank you for asking and for watching.
@@coryjeffreys5146 there is no way to save settings as far as I know. But if you have it set the way you want it and reboot the camera or power it off, it will not back up, set in the last settings you used. So as long as you don't change anything before you turn it off, it will stay in the settings you used last. I hope that helped.
Great video. Have you tried the time Lapse? I shot almost 60 minutes, i got 3 seconds of footage, how and or why did this happen? I compared it to my Phone, shot with both side to side, 20 minutes, the phone has a minute and half footage, the Akaso produced 5 seconds. Your assistance is greatly appreciated in advance.
I've never used time lapse with this camera. Are my time lapse videos are done with my better DSLRs so I never needed to try it. Wish I could help more, sorry about that.
@@oceansblue692 I use 64Gb. I've never owned anything larger. I wish I did though and since prices are dropping all the time I think it's about time I got one.
I wish you'd explain WHY certain settings might be better than others....showing them to us doesn't help much;it's like a visual list, which we can do by ourselves. If you have another video going into detail, and answering the WHY of a given setting that would be so helpful. Listing them and giving us YOUR preferences is only half the job. I'll have to google each setting to find out more.
I don't know. I know you can connect it to WiFi but as for streaming, I've never tested it. I don't see why it wouldn't. I'll have to dig further into this and get back to you.
From what I found, in just a quick search on RUclips, there are many videos showing how to stream with it. So I would say yes you can. I've not done much streaming at all (once before with my laptop) so I am not a good source for info on that subject. Just being honest.
@@markmaness3639 That's a crazy good deal. I just picked up Akaso's budget camera, for about $75.00 and it's got no touch screen or front facing screen. I'll have to get hold of you next time I purchase something for reviewing so you can save me some money...
I also noticed the Brave 7 LE that I bought has a mic option. In the Mic menu it has 2 options: Built-in and External. Maybe they added this option with a firmware update. I know that was one of the big complaints about this model.
@@HayesTech Thanks for the info! In regards to its wifi capabilities--can you send videos to your iPad via wifi? And if so, how? Do you have a video on this? Thanks again!!
@@L33VAZQUEZ I wouldn't know how to do that or even if it's possible with this camera. I always pull out the SD card to transfer files. Sorry i couldn't help more on this.
My 7le records voice even with voice record off in settings. It shows the mic crossed out but still recording. This is the second camera which does that. Is yours doing the same?
I'll have to check it out. I've never shut off the audio because I need it in order to sync my good audio, from my Zoom audio recorder, with the video. I'll let you know how it goes when I have the time to check it out though.
I was using an external mic (Sony lav mic) and my Zoom H1n audio recorder. The USB mic that works with this camera is ok but as I always tell everyone, "audio is everything", I highly recommend using a dedicated audio recording system. So yes you can use their mic, but no, you can't use your own mic. The mic port is USB and not a 3.5mm.

You are very welcome and thank you for watching and for commenting. Let me know if you need help with anything.

I've bought this camera in 2024. And regarding to the audio options, it is a little different menu settings, in the menu you show in 19:15, it has the additional option Microphone, so you can change it to Built -In/External. I don't know if it just a new firmware or the physical device has changed. Just to let you know.

I've noticed that a lot of the newer, budget oriented cameras, have steered away from having an external mic source.

Did you get the Brave 7 LE? They make another one now that's named very close to the Brave 7 LE, but their new one is water proof without the case, like the other cameras I've reviewed.

Thank you, I do appreciate it. That's awesome that the camera is working for you. They are good cameras, with great video quality, for what they cost.
Thanks for your review. I just bought this camera and the Akaso ext. Microphone. Why blow all the $ on a go pro.
The XTU X1, in my opinion still has much better image quality than the Akaso though. You should watch that video too
Cheers. Very helpful video.

There is an external mic now. Not sure there was when this video was made. It plugs into one of the usb plugs.
Yes, there is an external mic and one of the other videos I made on this camera shows it. I didn't find the quality of the mic to be that good though. Again, this was just my preference and others may find that mic to be completely usable.
Great video, is there an area on the camera where you can adjust the ISO? If so, what is the range for the ISO? Thank you!

Here is a link to the one I use:

If you're setting are at 4k then I would say it's your lighting. But without seeing the video, it's hard to determine exactly what's wrong. But just based on w your telling me, I would say it's lighting.
detailed video.. very helpful.
@@pukarrisal1522
Yes, my guess is that camera has an issue with it's lens.
Thank you Hayes. I have contacted the customer care as well. I will let you know what the have to say about it.
@@pukarrisal1522
Good deal.
Awesome video.
Sir .now i use camera 7e le. But i dont know how to tranfer to handfhone that video. Can u help me or tech me how to tranfer vidwo to handphone please
Hi
Can RODE wireless microphone be use with this Alaso?
I'm not sure. From what I understand You have to use a proprietary microphone made by Akaso . I recommend using a Zoom H1n or any other audio recorder and then using the microphones of your choice.
You missed distortion calibration.... i was waiting for that one too.. what is it for ?
I did mention it but yes, U didn't demo it. That feature takes out the warping effect that action cameras give you. But if you use that feature, you can't use any image stabilization. That's why I didn't really demo that feature. Sorry about that.
Also, I did this review in 3 videos and I think I showed that feature on one of the other videos (video 1 or Video 2)

Even if the 2 cameras are identical, the exposure comp may have to be set differently. It all depends on angles and even how exact the lenses are mounted from the factory. But again, exposure comp should fix that.

Hello Friend. does this camera have an audible alert when it turns on and off? or does it have none showing that it has turned on or off? thankful.
Thanks for the video. Your audio is great, what mic are you using and how are you with that camera?

I don't use those remotes, sorry about that. But it should be straight forward, unless they are requiring an app or something. Make sure the remote has a good battery is what I would check. Other than that, they work off an older style operating connection system. Also check settings, in the camera, to see if you have to turn on the remote function.
How do you offload pics and videos to pc?
I just pull out the SD card and put the card right into my PC. Oh you don't have an SD port on your PC and only have a USB C port, then use one of those SD to USB adaptors. They are very cheap and work great.
Thanks for the thorough reviews. Is there a MIC volume/gain setting? I looked all over settings, also didnt see it in your review either. I've seen it in other Akaso cams, would like to be able to change it if possible.
Yes there is, it's in the settings and it's called the mic level. I think it has 3 settings like high medium and low. I review so many I forget now. So hopefully I'm not giving you completely wrong info now...lol.. And if I am I do apologize.

I am trying to find a video of showing the easiest way to use the wifi to move the video to my cell phone so I can use kindmaster to edit video. I also use my phone to record too so want to grab all the video in order. Can you make that video. Thanks so much. Love all your videos. So helpful.
These adaptors are about $10.00 or cheaper and come in both USB C and standard USB (in case your phone is older with the older style USB port). I can highly recommend this procedure because of the speed .

But yes, Just press and hold the center/top button for 3 seconds.

No, the isn't a lenses cover for the Brave 7LE. It's funny you should mention that, I did a review on the XTU-X1 and that camera came with a lens cover. But I lost it in less than a couple hours...lol...
I also keep it on all auto except for the exposure. And that depends on how much sun and light the is while shooting.
Do you know how to keep the screen on? Mine keeps turning off even do is recording.
Yes, it is in settings and you can set it up to not shut off at all. I'll have to look it up but this video should show where you go for that. I'll get back to you.
At 20:42, in this video, the setting is called "Screen saver" . I turn it off.
Hi sir.. May i ask how can i adjust the recording mode from 30minutes to 10minutes and it will keep on recording for 10minutes everytime recording...
@@alexang2851
Most of these, more affordable action cameras, have a defAult setting that it goes to once the camera is powered off. I'll look into this and get back to you. But cameras like GoPro are more in line with having settings that are remembered. I'll get back to you on this.
@@alexang2851
If you go into settings (bottom right of the screen) and then tap the video icon (the top one) scroll down to "Loop recording" or driving mode. That will give you 1, 3 and 5 minute recording modes.
On the main screen you can also touch the bottom middle of the screen, where the recording resolution is, and choose "Loop Record" from there. This may be slightly different, depending on the software version in your camera, but basically that is where you can at least get shorter clips. I hope this helped. I'm getting ready to review the new XTU S7 soon too, so be looking for that video.
Can u set the front screen to record with out showing picture or have it timed to turn off but still record on the front camera?
Yes you can. It's called something like "screen off" or "screen time out". But yes you can. I think the shortest setting is 30 seconds and the screen shuts off.
In settings (to get to settings click the gear icon on the lower right of the screen), then click the settings icon (under the video camera icon) in settings. That will get you into the camera settings. Will down to you see "screen saver". This is where you control how long your screen stays on. I always leave it at off, so I can always make sure of my framing. But to save batteries, you can set it from 1 minute to 5 minutes or to off. Hope that helps.
Thank u so much
If anyone is having the same issue that I was: not finding the Effect setting in the menu. If White Balance is on anything other than Auto, the Effect setting won’t appear. Try setting the WB to Auto, exit out of the settings menu then go right back and the Effect setting should reappear.
Is there a better mic option for this camera?
Not that plugs directly into the camera. You have to use their proprietary mic and I actually bring that up in the video, that they should have made it so you could use any mic with a 3.5mm jack instead of having the USB plug. I use my Zoom H1n audio recorder (@ $70.00) to record audio when using this camera.
@@HayesTech Ok thanks!
Ive tried everything you recommended but my videos always show up grainy. Thanks for your insight.
Are you shooting indoors or outside? If outside, there is something wrong with your camera (if you are shooting in 1080p or 4K). Without enough light, like shooting indoors sometimes, the video will be grainy. But with plenty of light, like outside, there should be none.

@@HayesTech No worries at all, thank you!!
WHY IS A AUDIO JACK SO HARD FOR THEM TO PUT ON A ACTION CAM everyone has literly been beggin for audio jacks for years
I couldn't agree with you more. They should have them on every single action camera. I mean it's not hard to do.
@@HayesTech right it’s like number 1 thing everyone wants just seems dumb not to have one in them at this piont
Were you using an external mic with this? If so which one will work withit?
I was using an external mic (Sony lav mic) and my Zoom H1n audio recorder. The USB mic that works with this camera is ok but as I always tell everyone, "audio is everything", I highly recommend using a dedicated audio recording system.
So yes you can use their mic, but no, you can't use your own mic. The mic port is USB and not a 3.5mm.
