Feedback regarding real-time vs time-lapse video. I find the real-time video with commentary much more interesting and useful than the time-lapse. Thanks again for posting your videos!

Thanks for taking the time to post the videos. I am down in East Mesa and plan to start mine later this year. I find those little tips extremely useful, eg. the left vs right on the details that could easily be missed.

Thank you so much for the comment! I’ll keep that in mind going forward to keep including info like that. And that’s awesome you’re so close! I look forward to hearing about your progress with the build

Austin, Have you found an EAA tech rep to come out and periodically inspect your work and sign off so the DAR can see you were getting oversight during the build?

I have not. I think that could be a great thing to start doing in the future though. I know it’s not required but recommended to give the DAR some peace of mind when it gets to that point.

Did you buy an aluminum “brake” to bend the metal parts or do they come that way? I completed the SynergyAir one day fundamentals course and we had to use a brake in forming the stiffeners. Just wondering because I am building a tool inventory now.

I have not bought a brake. If I was building again, I would consider it if I found one for a good price. Van’s has you fabricate one to finish a tight bend on the elevator trim tabs. The one I made out of lumber and hinges was a pain to use. It became firewood after that part of the build. A lot of people have to make that part multiple times, and I’m sure a professional brake would make it easier if the part fit in it. I’m not sure how much use it would get outside of that part though. All stiffeners have come pre-bent up to this point
