Hi Bryan I am enjoying your videos . I am not a Mauritian but my grandfather was one. He was from La Savanne. It would be great if you could visit and video the place .
I am from a place called Tallaght, a suburb of Dublin, Ireland, but I lived here for a year and a half and looking at your video, it is making me miss this place more than ever, I will return and this time probably stay there, thank you for the cool video showing all the updates and new developments there!
Loved those hats, the market looked so clean and the church was beautiful plus the mountains behind. I wonder if all the grey stone they used for building is basalt? You must both be getting so fit because you are doing a lot of walking. I am enjoying 'walking' along with you from my chair. Thanks so much for another interesting tour.
My native town.. Normally, stores are opened also on Sundays till afternoon. Umbrella businessman was brillant. When my umbrellas were broken, by 2,3 times trying to repair, they were trashed 😂. The 4 cites linked to Quatre Bornes : Beau Bassin /Rose Hill and Vacuas/ Phoenix. Quatre Bornes is very known for good practitioners, doctors and lawyers.
Orchard Centre was quite a revolution when it opened, now it's one of the least appealing malls. The nicest parts of Quatre Bornes are the residential areas away from the centre and bus station.
I know that some people might not get it, but I LOVE that you mention bathroom posibilities and qualities. Until watching this channel. I had never heard of paying to go to the bathroom, but I also didn't know they would do a tour thing and take you to a day trip on an island and not have bathrooms!! I appreciate every time you mention bathrooms so I know to be prepared. Also, I had head of haberdasheries but didn't know what they were, until Riki informed me on another video. I learn a lot while I read but am limited by what the author choses to share.
The spire of Notre Dame de Rosaire was hit by lightning a few years back. I live about 1 Km from the church and the sound was deafening even from that distance.
I found this about Quatre Borne etymology: An ordinance, passed in 1895 and adopted in 1896, resulted in the creation of the "Town of Quatre Bornes". The name "Quatre Bornes" (which means four boundary stones in French) probably owes its name to a map drawn by Descubes in 1880, in which he set the boundary stones (bornes) of Palma, Bassin, Trianon, and Beau Séjour. One historian suggested that the "bornes" rather delimited the three districts of Plaine Wilhems, Moka and Black River. It is also claimed that in 1761 two land owners, Mr Mabille and Mr Desveaux were having land problems. Their case was referred to as "Le cas des Quatre Bornes". W. Edward, in 1921, explained that four boundary stones used to delimit the intersections between the roads crossing Vacoas and Bassin/Palma, and La Louise and the Balisage separating the land property of La Louise, and Beau Séjour. Some also claim that Quatre Bornes owes its name to a "commune" in France. A few landmarks in the history of Quatre Bornes.
You have missed two well known schools of Mauritius , Saint Esprit college and the loretto Convent . The later used to have a magnificent creole building which was been pulled down . But you can still go to Saint Esprit college for it's great mansory architecture . And on the foot of Corps de Garde mountain where is a epic Tamil temple .
@@BryanDiscoversWorld you definitely need to come for part 2 , a lot more u missed as the hospital ,hillcrest drive , nice views from sodnac ,tamil temple ,spicy crab soup of mamou snack...more more .dont come too early. good things starts as from 10 (with traffic)even in st jean the cemetery is huge and st jean church is nice too with a beautiful shrine to visit
@@BryanDiscoversWorld haha almost that looks like an election protest for the chaotic part ! But Quatre Bornes is known for its peace and most stable weather condition across the island ! You do a good job though Brian :)

Very well captured... Love the insights!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Quatre-Bornes name is from the 4 stones ( bornes) which marked the limits of the place in rhe 18th century . And Orchard Centre dates from the 90 's .
Thanks for the great info, do you know where the stones are?
@@BryanDiscoversWorld . Nope , it's long gone . Probably nothing great about them , just stones to limit the area.
I am from Quatre Bornes but now in Dubai. I miss my hometown so much
You are welcome, come home soon.

Wow, you have started reading the history now. What is great is that we still don't know the real answer, although I like the 4 road one myself.
@@BryanDiscoversWorld, I was hoping to see a fourth mountain...or even a hill haha
