  • We rode through long stretches of farmland in the western part of Thailand to reach the mountains of the north. While the scenery in the section wasn't as stunning as the limestone cliffs of Southern Thailand, it was interesting to see all the different crops growing and get a glimpse into rural village life.
    Time Frame: Mid-Late December 2022

    Looks like a nice ride. The best part is that it looks like you missed all of the pollution in Northern Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.

    It was nice to see you riding on the proper side of the road😉The highways are so scary at times, I do use them sometimes in Scotland but try my best to avoid them! I'm glad the trucks were good to you though! Cool video once again guys, the nicer weather sure helps to keep your spirits up👍

    Really enjoying your videos and your travels. Seems that the production value increases with each video. Getting ready to take off this week to cycle tour UK and Ireland starting with the Wild Atlantic Way-thanks for introducing the idea of Ireland!

    Thanks for sharing your route and adventure. I marked all the places you mentioned on my Thailand map in base camp. I was wondering what this route would be like. I cycled the more easterly route in 2017 and will be attempting to cycle your route next winter. There is still 1 1/2 feet of snow in the back yard so enjoy the good weather. Thanks for posting

    Loving your travels through Thailand. Such peaceful and traffic-free roads. I am getting interested in touring Malaysia and Thailand myself as a couple of friends have been there and raved about the country for bicycle touring. If you don't mind could I ask a few questions?
    You had camping gear... how often did you camp and was the gear really necessary?
    Also what time of year were you riding through Malaysia and Thailand? What would be the best time to ride there? (ie. least heat and rain)?
    And is it better to ride northwards as you did or would a reverse tour Chiang Mai to Singapore be better?
    Thanks for any information you can give.

    Enjoying following your journey. How long did it take you to cycle through Thailand? We're looking at a similar route & trying to get an idea if it needs a visa extension beyond basic 30 days?

    • @RollingExistence
      @RollingExistence  Год назад +2

      We were in Thailand a total of 2 months, though we took a couple longer breaks in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. We did the visa extension in Chiang Mai and it was a pretty easy process.

    Driving in Thailand is often pretty hairy. Thai people are so friendly, but things change behind the wheel! How did you find the drivers treated you on the road? Also, what navigation did you use to get onto the dirt tracks? Great trip and nice presentation.

      The busier roads were definitely scary at times, we tried to avoid them as much as possible. We used OSMand to route us on rural roads and it usually found us some really nice tracks!

    • @RollingExistence
      @RollingExistence  Год назад +2

      We're using the Schwalbe Marathon GT 365 in the 29x2" size. Mondials would have been our first choice but they were sold out everywhere when we were looking for them.

    This is truely the way to see the land and people of the country. Everything is as it is. The only thing to be cautious about when travelling in rural area are wild animals, tigers and elephants.
