    great way to keep city water from beating up your plants with chlorine and other garbage. backflow from irrigation may be something you would want to prevent to keep drinking water quality from being affected. Have you looked into adding a backflow valve? (it's a health safety feature required by code for irrigation systems.)

    • @GrowingUpGarden
      @GrowingUpGarden  7 лет назад +1

      +GraceHead1 No I'm not to worried about it. The values would have to leak in order for the water to get sucked back in to the house from the drip system. It's a good idea to have one. I might look into getting one. I can show everyone how to install it in a future episode.Thanks for the tip.

    Thanks for the video. I'd be really interested to know how you rate the filter after all this time since you made the video and how often you've changed the filters?

    • @GrowingUpGarden
      @GrowingUpGarden  5 лет назад +7

      I still have the same filters that I installed in the video. The flow rate is still good out of the drip system. They will filter about 45,000 gallons. I’m sure I’ve gone over that amount. Its a great filter, I have one on every hose and drip system. I haven’t had any problems with them. Thanks for watching

    Ever boogie blue filter I have tried cracked at the female end. All hand tightened and still cracked in the same spot. I really wanted to like this product.

      How long were they sitting outside in the sun? Maybe try covering them to keep the sun off of the plastic. The UV light makes them brittle over time. I have had one break in the same spot. It was out side for 4 years and I bumped into it. I know Josh from boogie brew. Next time I get ahold of him I can mention that he needs to reinforce that part of the filter.

      @@GrowingUpGarden Both were brand new.
      Both Snapped the first time I put them on(no I didn’t over tighten them). Yeah, let Josh know. I watch him and John all the time. I definitely like the way you set those up, tho.
      Thanks for the reply. Grow on!

    Great video!!!! I was wondering if you can have this system underground, more inline with a specific irrigation system/valve? I'm unable to do the above ground version you did but could create a box just underground...also how often do you change the filter?
    Thanks a lot for the advice...

    • @GrowingUpGarden
      @GrowingUpGarden  6 лет назад

      You can definitely put it under ground. I haven't changed my filters yet. They should last 2 to 3 years or growing seasons depending on the water quality. The filters are good for 35,000 gallons of water. I did some calculations with it hooked to the hose. I haven't even used 10,000 gallons yet this year. Now thats unrestricted coming right out of the hose. When i have the filters hooked to the drip system it uses way less water. If the water pressure goes down coming out of the filter then its time to changed them.

    Sprinklers are not working after this setup. However my drippers are ok. Any suggestions to correct the pressure?

    • @GrowingUpGarden
      @GrowingUpGarden  3 года назад +1

      The filters do lower the output pressures some. You might have to many sprinklers on one zone. You could try splitting it up into 2 zones and see if that helps. My garden has 2 valves/ zones and each one has its own filter. What are your sprinklers for a lawn or garden?

    Great vid. New subscriber. Do you know if the boogie blue filter kills the water pressure a significant amount? I have a friend that wants this for a sprinkler system but I need to figure out my pressure.

      No change in pressure that I have noticed. Thanks for watching.

    Why did you mount them vertically? Do you think it would work the same in I put it horizontally so its inline with the pipe?

    • @GrowingUpGarden
      @GrowingUpGarden  Год назад

      You can mount them in any orientation. I just did it that way so I could easily remove them and I had that space in the corner of my house where you couldn’t see them as you walked up to the front door.

    How has the decrease in water flow affected your irrigation? I am looking for a chlorine filter for an urban farm and am worried that the filter will decrease the flow rate too much for my drip irrigation. I called up Boogie Brew today and they recommended that I asked you :)

    • @GrowingUpGarden
      @GrowingUpGarden  6 лет назад +1

      That all depends on how many drippers you have on each filter. I have 2 filters for the garden. The water pressure that you have on the property is a factor also. I would estimate I have 100 drippers on each filter and it seems to do the job. It does cut down on the pressure some but not enough to effect the drippers. If you install the filter and you get to much drop in presser on one zone then you can just add another zone and filter.

      I ordered the filters and will test them when I have my water turned on for the season, thanks for the response!

      I would be interested to know how it turned out regarding how the filter affected your water pressure? I'm about to order one filter for my two 10x4 foot raised beds. Each bed has four 1/4" emitter lines with emitters spaced every 6", so around 80 emitters in each bed.

    Did u test the boogie blue filter with test strips to prove its affectiveness? Anyone?

    I’m trying to find way to reduce the calcium in my water going to lawn sprinkler system do you think someone could put this on a sprinkler system for a 9,500 sqft yard

    • @GrowingUpGarden
      @GrowingUpGarden  3 года назад +1

      Yes but it does reduce your water pressure.

    • @BoogieBrew

      The boogie blue filter will not remove “salts”, (i.e. dissolved solids), from well water. It will only remove about 10 to 15% of a source water’s dissolved solids. (And that 10-15% ppm drop is composed of heavier, metal-type elements, not macro-minerals like calcium, iron, potassium, sodium etc)..The other 85% or so can only properly be removed with an RO, (Reverse Osmosis) system, (or through distillation). The Boogie Blue Filter’s specialty is effectively scrubbing chemicals such as chlorine and chloramine so that soil biology can thrive. In addition, other harmful elements such as mercury, pesticides and heavy metals are removed by the Boogie Blue’s Plus' KDF55/KDF85 filtration membrane and also the high grade carbon, (resin-ion exchange granular activated membrane).

    you wouldn't have a parts list?

    • @GrowingUpGarden
      @GrowingUpGarden  2 года назад

      Sorry no I don’t. You might have to slow down the video and write down what I used. Off the top of my head I use ¾ pvc pipe, ¾ expansion coupling, pvc 90s, 1 male pvc hose end connector and 1 female hose end connector. All of the parts are from Home Depot.

    Any reason you have mounted two into your line?

    • @GrowingUpGarden
      @GrowingUpGarden  3 года назад

      I have 2 zones for the garden. The filters are separate from each other. Its because one zone didn’t have enough pressure to supply the Dripper’s and sprayers.
