True, when I requested water also they did the same thing for me at UL504 London to Colombo Flight. Also the best thing I noticed the staff wanted to serve everything and finished there work .

I use UL twice a year. Meals in SYD/CMB and MEL/CMB flights are not up to the mark. (We have heard various stories, why) But meals from CMB are very good. Agreed, most of the male stewards' behavior is not professional. Generally stewardesses' are very much friendly and professional. They need a lot of patience to deal with Indian customers who are the majority.

We had a worse experience than you had when we travelled from Sri Lanka to Au this April.we booked with Sri Lankan to help the country and they cancelled our flights without letting us informed twice,Thankfully my husband always kept an eye on their poor functioning website and noted the 1st cancellation and called them and had to stay in a queue for >2 hrs and they re scheduled it for us and the 2nd time no informing again and cancelled very close to the departure date, and we again found out ourselves and contacted them and re booked again .because of the changes we had to go though a 12 hr transit in Malaysia.[originally we were scheduled to ravel through singappore]my husband complained to the GM AirLanka but no response or apology from them so far .We will never ever travel in Sri Lankan air lines Again we decided.We normally travel in Singappore airlines when we travel to Sri lanka and this time we thought it will be a help for the country / air lanka that’s the only reason we booked our return flight with them.Not anymore 🙁
I was a frequent traveller of Sri Lankan airlines as well. At a time I have been ignoring all the good offers and connections offered by the other airlines as I loved travelling with Sri Lankan. I always felt valued as a customer and also had a great feeling of flying the national airline. Then the terrible experiences started to unfold one by one mostly while travelling to CMB-LHR sector. PRIOR to covid this sector by Sri lankan was in high demand and almost all flights I flew were full. And here comes the fun part. I have experienced how bad I have been neglected as a SRI LANKAN passenger in a SRI LANKAN flight. There were TWO standards of service provided by the crew. Those passengers had WHITE skin were receiving PROMPT service while I have been treated no where near to the service standard where foreign passengers were concerned. I always felt speaking in SINHALA to a sinhala CREW would be great and felt proud to do so. Why would a sri lankan need to speak ENGLISH in a SRI LANKAN flight? May be the new CREWS been hired to do the job were born and brought up out of SL so that they cannot understand SINHALA. In the past crew used to be very much down to earth and people appreciated that all over the world. They also won the accolades as "FRIENDLIEST CABIN CREW IN THE WORLD" Where and what happened to these qualities of the airline now? After having multiple issues of this nature and having to feel neglected as a customer.. I stopped flying sri lankan and moved on to the airlines operated from the middle eastern countries. For my biggest surprise I started to learn how good they have captured the business of Sri Lankan passengers. No wonder why SRI LANKAN make no profit.. best example.. look at the number of daily flights operating now by QATAR.. they can connect a passenger to any destination in the world via DOHA with least amount of transit hours.. while Sri Lankan cannot connect a passenger with their limited code share partners to USA without holding a passenger at LHR for 12-14 hours on transit.. shame.. UNETHICAL and UNPROFESSIONAL conversations by the CREW are becoming a ROUTINE., INCONSISTENCIES of the service can be seen clearly. This shows LACK OF TRAINING and the type of Staff been hired to fill the positions.. Back in the day getting to airline industry is a dream job and only qualified candidates were given the opportunity.. They perform to the best of their ability and shined through the flag carrier... Hospitality is all about going above and beyond to exceed the expectations of the customers..
We had a good airline when 1994 to 2005 Mrs Chandrika Bandaranaike president time. She decided to PPV (Public Private Venture) concept with fly Emirates. So at that time we were in top 10 in the world ranking.

මමත් 2021aprial sri lankan Airlines buisness class aawe Singapore වලට මගෙ බබාල දෙන්නත් හිටියා එයාලදෙන්නත් එක්ක තනියෙන් එන නිසාමයි business class දැම්මෙ. කොරොනා කාලේ නිසා අපි විතරයි business class හිටියේ. කෑම අන්තිමයි.මගෙ සන්ඩ්විච් එක නරක් වෙලා තිබුනේ. Juice මුකුත් නැහැ. 2019 අප්‍රේල් 21 අපි China Pudong Airport eke සිට Colombo ආවේ Srilankan Air Lines. අපිට දුන්න meals නරක් වෙලා තිබුණා. එනකම් බඩගින්නේ. බබා CHICKEN කන්නේ නැති නිසා මම ඒ chicken කෑල්ල කාල තමයි ආවේ. ඒ meal එක යන්තම් කන්න පුළුවන් විදිහට තිබුණා.

අපිටත් ඔය සිද්දිය ඔය විදිහටම උනා.😔 අපි Glaston යන්න ආවේ. මමයි මගේ බබාලා තුන්දෙනයි. අපිට flights තුනක් ගන්න තිබ්බා. අපිට melbourne වලින් brisbane flight එක miss උනා. ඒකට එයාලා අපෙන් සමාව ගත්තෙත් නෑ..baggages clear කරන එක ගැන ඇහුවට හරියටම කිව්වෙත් නෑ.. අපිව hotel එකකට නම් දැම්මා. ඒත් අපිට ග්ලැස්ටන් flight එක ට ආයේ tickets දාන්න උනා. Hotels ආයම book කරන්න උනා. ඩොලර් 1000ක් විතර පාඩු උනා. ඒවට මොනවත් එයාලා කතා කරේ වත් නෑ. අපිටත් මෙල්බන් එද්දී ආපු staff එක හරිම නරකයි. ඔය වගේ කච බචේ. පිරිමි අය වැඩිපුර හිටියේ හිටියේ. මමත් ඔය වගේම වතුර ඉල්ලුවා මට පීනස නිසා ටිකක් රස්නෙට. හැබයි කියන්න කණගාටුයි තව ටිකකින් breakfast දෙනවා කියලා ඉන්න කිව්වා. දුන්නේ පැයකට විතර පස්සේ. ඒකෙත් මටයි ලොකු බබාටයි breakfast දුන්නේ නෑ.. අපි කියලා ඉල්ල ගත්තේ. හරිම ලැජ්ජයි වැඩේ. ඒකත් omlet එකකුයි තව මොනාහරි indian meal එකක්.අපිට option තිබ්බේ නෑ. දෙන දේ කාලා වෙන දේ බලං ඉඳපන් වගේ.. 😠 අපිට දවසක රස්තියාදුවක් උනා. පාඩු උනා එයාලා හරියට අපිව දැනුවත් කරපු නැති නිසා. හරිම unprofessional service එක.තවත් දෙයක් india යන කතාව ආරංචි වෙලා husband srilankan airline එකෙන් අහලා තිබුනා මොකද තව flight දෙකක් book කරන්න ඕන නිසා. ඒගොල්ලො කියලා තිබ්බා බය වෙන්න එපා ඒකට. එයාලා ඒ ගැන බලාගන්නවා flight change කරන්න එපා කියලා. මට නම් අප්පිරිය උනා. Tv screen වැඩකරේ නෑ අපි දෙන්නෙක්ගෙ. හිතන්න ළමයි තුන්දෙනෙක් අරං යද්දී පැය 10-12 එක දිගට තියාගන්නේ කොහොමද කියලා. මං නං ආයේ යන්නේ නෑ srilanka airlime එකේ...👎

I’m totally agree with you the same experience I had last April. I was asking water and they gave me the same answer not ready. Also they are ignoring passengers and not professional at all. Mostly I’m traveling with air lanka but unfortunately the service nil compared to other air lines.
