    Nicest person in poker. Had the pleasure of playing day 2 of the WSOP main event several yrs ago with her at the table and she was always nice and accommodating to everyone at all times. She ended up the last woman playing in that field although I don't remember where she finished. Truly a nice person, wish her well.

    Just to those unaware, she had to pay $25,000 just to enter the tournament, so it’s not a “rags to riches” story, it’s a “riches to slightly more riches” story. Not hating, I’m a big fan and she did amazing, just providing some context to those who don’t know how poker tournaments work.

      Not to take anything away from her win, shes been a grinder for a long time. That being said, she only had percentage of that win, most likely less than 50%. If i was guessing it would be 25%. Her buy in of 25k was staked. Meaning another person/or other people invested into her equity. Its a normal practice - the majority of the pros you see on tv in big tournaments are staked. No one at her level would pay the entire 25k buy in, its not economically feasible as a poker player. Congrats liz, you deserved this win.

    I think some men have trouble acknowledging that there are women players that are as good or better than men. Poker tournaments take luck and skill. You can be the best player and get sucked out on. Its how you deal with the bad beats that determine your outlook. Poker is a hard way to make a living but if you have other sources of income than it does not matter.

    Justin Bonomo being banned for a simple piece of clothing - how about reporting on the end of free speech in all its forms?

    • @philcooley55
      @philcooley55 18 дней назад +9

      terrible argument. wsop is a private company, not the govt. The idea of "free speech" doesn't apply. By entering bonomo agreed to not wear any politically controversial clothing at the final table, which was to be broadcast. WSOP rules, if he doesn't like them then he shouldn't play.

    • @droidgeist
      @droidgeist 18 дней назад +1

      @philcooley55 Firstly, the idea that WSOP want to keep politics out of poker is total BS... Considering WSOP Paradise were literally raising money for IDF family members!
      Secondly, yes, private companies have the right to curtail free speech. But others have the right to criticise them for their rank hypocrisy and support for one side - the side massacring children en masse.
      Thirdly, there's zero writing on the keffiyeh - it's a piece of clothing associated with an ethnic group. Would they ban a kilt worn by a supporter of the SNP? Of course not - they've chosen to view the keffiyeh solely as a political symbol that needs to be repressed because of the wider repression of free speech in society on this issue.

    • @droidgeist
      @droidgeist 18 дней назад +2

      @@philcooley55 Firstly, WSOP have been super political, even recently - they literally raised money for IDF family members!
      Secondly, if you're going to resort to the lame argument that private organisations can enforce policies as they please, then there's whole heaps of organisations that can escape criticism in the same way, like Google or Facebook. Private organisations can make the choices they wish... and face shame and criticism for their unbalanced, disgusting choices.
      Thirdly, there's zero writing on the item - it's just a piece of clothing associated with an ethnic group. Would they ban a kilt worn by an SNP supporter? Of course not - they've chosen to uniquely clamp down on this because of a wider repression of pro Palestinian freedom of speech in society.

    A lot of these poker players sell shares to people 🤔 so she could be shelling out some of her winnings 😩

    This is pure nonsense she is sponsored, has probably spent £10 million in buy ins just this year 😂 She may be a break even tournament player who knows

      "who knows" everyone knows. she's been around the scene for almost a decade a couple years back. this was her first tournament this year.

    • @Wppsamsung2024
      @Wppsamsung2024 19 дней назад +2

      @ichmagheringway89 Doesn't mean she is profitable...you know Daniel Negreanu is barely profitable some years even when he wins massive multi million dollar tournaments at WSOP etc. You have no clue if she is profitable...without being staked and sponsored

    • @Wppsamsung2024
      @Wppsamsung2024 19 дней назад +2

      @ichmagheringway89 The money making is in the platform and the organisers, the pros only make consistent income from the platforms backing them...their job is to make you think you can make money without their help and get more players in the door, hence you're the mark and fell for it hook line and sinker 🎣...😂

      @Wppsamsung2024 there is a lot of truth to what you said but also not all. there is a bunch of people making money without being sponsored/backed.

    Just goes to show that poker is short term luck. No matter how good the player is anyone with a reasonable game could be in her position. She was already loaded and had nothing to lose. Clearly the money doesnt mean that much. It's abit of a scam. You can play brilliantly and be beaten by bad players. Also so disgraceful that the event in Bahamas had a charity for the IDF! Oh dear sky news didnt mention that

      Please explain why the same players are always winning more than the others over the years ??? Yes there is a lot of luck in poker thats a given.. but if you think its pure luck then i suggest you learn the rules and go play against a pro.... ???

    She played like a nit esp during the FT of that tourney, nice score....you don't win the lottery if you don't enter..... There's much better British players that deserve to be showcased on sky sports, irrelevant to gender.

      @Romans8-9 nh some spots weren't huge ICM wise, she was also nitty before FT but esp on FT it was funny to watch - you could just see the chat pointing it out lol.
