Nicest person in poker. Had the pleasure of playing day 2 of the WSOP main event several yrs ago with her at the table and she was always nice and accommodating to everyone at all times. She ended up the last woman playing in that field although I don't remember where she finished. Truly a nice person, wish her well.
Yes Liv 💪💪 Great interview too. Too many interviews these days are packed full of loaded or suggestive questions so it was nice to hear one that was more open and allowed Liv to simply share how she feels
Just to those unaware, she had to pay $25,000 just to enter the tournament, so it’s not a “rags to riches” story, it’s a “riches to slightly more riches” story. Not hating, I’m a big fan and she did amazing, just providing some context to those who don’t know how poker tournaments work.
Not to take anything away from her win, shes been a grinder for a long time. That being said, she only had percentage of that win, most likely less than 50%. If i was guessing it would be 25%. Her buy in of 25k was staked. Meaning another person/or other people invested into her equity. Its a normal practice - the majority of the pros you see on tv in big tournaments are staked. No one at her level would pay the entire 25k buy in, its not economically feasible as a poker player. Congrats liz, you deserved this win.
@@milanbaros-gi4pm incorrect, she had 100% of her own action, she even told you the amount she was donating, that is 20%. Her buy in may have been paid, maybe not, either way she keeps all the winnings.

I think some men have trouble acknowledging that there are women players that are as good or better than men. Poker tournaments take luck and skill. You can be the best player and get sucked out on. Its how you deal with the bad beats that determine your outlook. Poker is a hard way to make a living but if you have other sources of income than it does not matter.
The Gunshot was the golden era of London poker, 20 years ago those £5 unlimited re-buy tournaments on Monday were wild. Best I ever did was 2nd place, but it was way over my weekly pay at the time. Good memories.

terrible argument. wsop is a private company, not the govt. The idea of "free speech" doesn't apply. By entering bonomo agreed to not wear any politically controversial clothing at the final table, which was to be broadcast. WSOP rules, if he doesn't like them then he shouldn't play.
@philcooley55 Firstly, the idea that WSOP want to keep politics out of poker is total BS... Considering WSOP Paradise were literally raising money for IDF family members! Secondly, yes, private companies have the right to curtail free speech. But others have the right to criticise them for their rank hypocrisy and support for one side - the side massacring children en masse. Thirdly, there's zero writing on the keffiyeh - it's a piece of clothing associated with an ethnic group. Would they ban a kilt worn by a supporter of the SNP? Of course not - they've chosen to view the keffiyeh solely as a political symbol that needs to be repressed because of the wider repression of free speech in society on this issue.
@@philcooley55 Firstly, WSOP have been super political, even recently - they literally raised money for IDF family members! Why are so few women attracted to poker/good at poker? It's mainly a mens game. So is chess for example... What rare qualities does Liv have, that makes her a top level woman poker player?
The entry barrier is daunting to many women. But slowly that is changing. Once you are comfortable sitting down at the table, it’s like any other mind sport. Learn the rules, practice, apply.
“Life changing” perhaps for her credibility as a female professional poker player. She did wonderfully and a 4th place finish at a top tournament is a huge accomplishment. “Life changing” in terms of 2.2M? Hardly. All the pro’s sell pieces of themselves.
