  • Check out Dr. Ramos's peripheral blood smear board review video: kikoxp.com/pos.... Also, a complete organized library of all my videos, digital slides, pics, & sample pathology reports is available here: kikoxp.com/pos... (dermpath) & kikoxp.com/pos... (bone/soft tissue sarcoma pathology).
    Please welcome my hematopathology colleague, Dr. Jeanette Ramos, as the first ever special guest lecturer on my RUclips channel. Dr. Ramos discusses the histology and immunostaining patterns of non-neoplastic lymph nodes. If you like this, please be sure to comment and request other hemepath topics for her to cover. We just might be able to convince her to come back and do a second video. ;-)

    Madame Ramos offers a nice elucidation on the arcane disease process of Lymphoma and the diagnostic Staining there in....While Lymphopathy can render a patient immunosuppressed, the knowledge of immunology can actually itself boost a failing defense mechanism by the sole reigning factor in all pathologies: All disease are pyschosomatic with the exemption of congenital, deficiency and traumatic Aetiologies.... Just started the video, but something bothered me: we get to see A LOT of normal lymph nodes everyday. Sentinel lymph nodes without metastasis, lymph nodes sampled during colectomies (in my department we sample even in diverticulosis), or randomly when ENT thinks they removed a parathyroid in frozen sections but it's actually a lymph node. There are other examples. I would argue the majority of the lymph nodes we see are normal. But maybe it's different for someone dealing only with hemepath.

    • @JMGardnerMD
      @JMGardnerMD  5 лет назад

      I’m not a hemepath expert, but my basic understanding: CD5 should stain all normal T-cells. It should look identical to CD3 pattern in normal or reactive lymph nodes. When it DOESN’T match CD3 pattern, then I start worrying about lymphoma.

      Thanks! That video was recorded with a built in microphone on a canon T6i camera. It is just a regular SLR camera That is attached the microscope with a specialized mount. You can buy it as a package from a company called Martin microscope. I’ve been really impressed with how good the sound is with that built-in microphone.

    Apoptosis......little “people-cells” committing suicide.....So important especially when cancer/sarcoma/lymphoma cells refuse to die. Nice to know that this is a mechanism that continually happens in lymph nodes as a normal process.
