One of these was to not create more ninja turtles, as the whole point of the four brothers was that they were the only specimens of their kind. A female turtle could potentially open up a pandora's box (that is why they objected on Mona Lisa being a Turtle). People have been asking since day one about adding more turtles or even female turtles, and it quickly became an irritable point for them. Especially for Peter Laird.

It’s very unusual to make April into a turtle like she’s not the turtles love interest or even that time she turned into a cat. But imagine if they did a horror version of the Ninja Turtles and April is the main character?
This story stuck with me. I never knew it was originally published in a special, though, since they just ran it in the regular TMHT comic book in Sweden.
It was a Surprising turn of events that April became the Fifth Turtle but only for a while. Now she predates Venus! To me, April will always be a Fifth Honorary turtle in our eyes! 2:27 A Moment of Silence as this was Umeko's final appearance of the TMNT Adventures Specials. She never Reappeared in the next page nor was involved with this Adventure. Its a Mystery why she was in it in the first place. Just for a stand in?
I wonder if this issue was drawn with the Marvel Method and the artist simply forgot about her. Splinter's role in the story is also odd. He is mostly off panel.

I feel like this story would've been more fun if it had carried on for a bit, and she would eventually be turned back. I get it though. I just feel like April, human or turtle, will always be the true fifth turtle.
Despite the overall Ninja theme, it might have been interesting to see April (or a future she-turtle character) utilising a non-Asian fighting style, just to shake things up a bit.
Shouldn't be too long... at the moment she is scheduled for early 2025, but plans change all the time. I may end up talking about the IDW version first. (Although, I already covered Venus in my next mutation video, but I will make a specific video for that version of the character).
