Sure wish you had done the other video that you talked about. We are trying to figure out how to attach the hoist to the board on the wall. Any help would sure be appreciated
great minds thinking alike---I rigged up a nearly identical hoist system a few years ago. Finding that if anything is stored in the kayak, the weight must be equally distributed to prevent it turning sideways. tied rope from the ends of the unistruts to the lower pulleys (forming a triangle) which helps some.
pretty cool man. I love doing stuff like this. I just got the same lift from Vevor and want to make an ebike lift system so that I can lift my ebikes up onto a rack to make repairs to them when needed without having to ask for help. Do you have a video on how you mounted the hoist to the wall?
This is helpful, but I think you convinced me to go with the simpler design. I will be lifting it off of and onto a car roof, so I think the soft straps will be easier. Also, my ceiling is absurdly high, like 20 feet or something, so I don't need clearance!
I agree, The pulleys that come with that system are junk(plastic). Pull them off, replace with metal ones. Or buy all metal to begin with. I like using the strut, for the reasons you mentioned.
Bird Man… you have best vid online for this set up. It appears you have 2 ropes going into the hoist!? Can you show us how to do that brotha? Or do you have that vid out already? I’m all set otherwise…just need that figured out. I know you must be busy. Big Colorado thanks!!
Hi, congratulations for the idea, it's great! I wanted to ask you a question... if the pulleys of the braces that support the kayak were fixed, is there a difference? climbs better and more even? It is my doubt ... thanks friend! I have to climb a Vibe Shearwater 125 and it is very heavy! Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina!
@@BirdbathWaterfowl did you do a video on it like you said you were going to? I haven't seen anyone put it on the wall vs the ceiling. how did you determine where to/how far apart to put the parts on the ceilings?
Correct, removed the steel cable and just used the rope included in the kayak manual lift kit. We will be doing a complete separate vid on the setup and install of the electric hoist.
Since you're using a 440lb electric hoist, you don't need any mechanical advantage. Why not a simple, zero-mechanical advantage system? You would need only two pulleys and half as much rope, although the rope and pulleys would need to be stronger. Also, it would take half as long to raise or lower.
Nice! Did you ever make the video about the hoist?

Did you ever make the video of the winch set up?
Bottom line….how did you attach and secure 2 lines of rope to the hoist spool?
I just took all the wire off and tied the rope to the spool. Nothing fancy, just make sure you have a good knot.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Trying to come up a way to do it with just one hoist.

How do you attach two ropes into that winch?

How do I mount winch to wall then to his system? I never found his video! Thank u
Hi, when is part two of video coming out? TYFS

Where is the link for the pulley you replaced the old one with?
I've been trying to find it too! Did you ever figure it out?
You had another video to hang kayak with the elec winch. I can not find it. I bought evert
do you have a link to the pulley you added? thanks!
Do you think that set you have can be used above the garage door when it's open?
Right now from the ceiling to the bottom of my kayak is 39”
How did you mount the winch to the wall?
Lag bolts

I made that system and the kayak rises more from behind than from the front... do you know why this happens to me?
It does the same for me using the same double pulley lift he is using, without the winch.
What did you donwith the brake system on the pulley kit?
I took it off lol
Did you change the line in the hoist?

I removed my cable and replaced with rope. Wasn’t very difficult. I used your unistrut setup too
Dude, left me hanging waiting for that additional video about the rope versus wire! Please
@@trinacria1956 we are on it! Sorry for the delay
@@BirdbathWaterfowl Have all parts just wondering how you attached the rope in place of the orignial cable? Did you drill out the cable hole on spool?
Do you know roughly how much rope to length did it take ?
I think I bought 75’ or 100’ bundle at Home Depot. I’m not 100% but it wasn’t expensive
