I'm really sorry that you have to go through cancer. I wish you all the healt and strength to win this battle. 🤗
Loved this video & you in too many ways to mention! we find our words very challenging & colour & sounds speak masses to us & we are learning our way with this youtube platform but using it in a very unique way to us and our healing. language of energy being a biggy and that is number pattern colour form, frequency and how that frequency is perceived depends on the sensory system perceiving & then on the internal processing model (S) of which why we love you as you speak to some of us that never really relate to many! we have a shaved head and used to have 2 nose ring piercings & are attempting to better ourselves with words, expression and organisation of & our life as a whole with our new way of living which is extrememly different to our previous lives in one life lol.
Thanks for getting past the inertia & softly gently and slowly in your comfortable safe space time getting the momentum flowing again.
We enjoy embracing you!
Namaste

"...for the non-space-traveler"...
"...if you have a body..." 🤣
So funny. Love your perpetetic chats! Fun to hang out with you as you travel through your spaces!
No worries, it doesn't matter how often you post, I actually don't even have time (postdoc here) to follow channels that post often, and your materials are timeless... Cheers Morgan!!! Glad u still have time to read, I didn't read much during dissertating 😂 (and it's only worse now haha 😅)
I'm on my second Kobo. I initially got one when I'd be traveling for seven weeks and there was NO WAY I could manage physical books through any means at adequate levels to accommodate that time. Especially given that there were airplane trips involved.
My first was a mini--and I wish (1) Kobo still made it and (2) in a version that had lighting. I loved that I could stick it in any pocket. I didn't love that I couldn't read on the shuttle on the way home from the airport.
Not finished. My second is a Clara, which I like a great deal. It has the library-connection capacity that the Mini also did not, and I use it. It has lighting. It is slightly larger than the mini, but can still fit in a pocket in my travel vest, so that's okay.
I wanted to be outside the Amazon ecosystem as well, and that has been accomplished.
I was definitely a slow adopter of the e-reader, but it fills a comfortable gap in my reading options. It is also EXCELLENT for managing books in bed that would be very heavy and unwieldy in print form.
Enjoy yours!
Yes, the first book I loaded onto mine is a MASSIVE 800 page one that I would not want falling on my head as I fall asleep!!
Came here via your GTD on Obsidian and stayed for the many commonalities. Have a Kobo as well and maybe you can comment after a year of ownership about the dilemma of: given that so many things are available at the library for free electronically and if you really need a book you could actually buy it instantly. What then do you actually own?
For me, leaving the idea of supporting the authors aside, anything that I would need instantly like a reference book or would need when there's no internet access and a couple of those books that I flip often for the rest of one's life. e.g. David Allen's main GTD book isn't for me as it has been internalized, but his "Ready for Anything: 52 Productivity Principles..." Is good to test one's own mastery perhaps weekly...so is good to own.
Yeah, definitely any reference books - like books on the craft of writing or teaching. I like to have physical copies of academic books that I reference for school, because I find them easier to flip through and find stuff than the digital copies. My favourite novels I like to have physical copies of. But also, taking books out of the library DOES support the author, too!
Ah! I once had a seminar with Sheila Heti. She has a very big dog. It started barking during the zoom sessions at random times and it scared the hell out of everyone 😂
helloo! it's so nice to see you again! :3
congratulations on buying kobo!🥳 it looks really cute☺️ my own experience with a bought ebook reader ended up in failure unfortunately so i think about reselling mine now as i still mostly read paper or listen to audio xd
i read a preview of pure colour and yeah it seems like a slow-read book, i think i'll try to find a full text version and continue reading (first pages gave me the feeling i had while reading steppenwolf by hesse, and it's one of my favourites, so)
also i watched one of your past videos and you mentioned magical realism, and as i really really like it (as much as sci-fi, by the way! high-five!✋) I'd like to recommend you a book by Ruth Ozeki "A Tale for the Time Being", in two words it's about the ocean and the time, and i think it's incredible 💞✨ even if in a very distant future i still would be really interested in hearing your thoughts about it ccc:
also! i'm going to start to write my thesis soon and hope to write a couple of review articles as well so i'm happy to hear about upcoming academic themed videos
have a nice time and take care of yourself! ☺️✨
A Tale for the Time Being is definitely on my list! First I think I'll read Ozeki's new book The Book of Form and Emptiness, though 😊
Actually, my Kobo does audiobooks! But I honestly don't think I'll use that feature, cause I have my phone 😝
... come to Dubai. : )))))) Late July it rained and the warm day was BELOW 40C, which for here was nice a warm, they were selling fur coats in the market sales. : ))))) Nice to see you back.
Looking beautiful, as always!
Glad you're back! Do you use goodreads or something similar? Nice video! Love and support from Brazil :D
I don't use Goodreads, I track my reading in Obsidian on my computer. One day soon I hope to have a blog where I'll talk about books and other things, too 😊
Lovely to see you again. Interested in your headphones in this video...how do they seem to work in comparison to other headphones you have used? Very interested to see what your experience with Kobo is - would love a viable alternative to the Amazon ecosystem! If it's waterproof, that would be pretty neat! The "Billy" bookshelves from Ikea are fairly cheap as furniture and have 6 shelves, for future expansion of your library.
I'm actually planning on getting Billy bookshelves! They seem to be what everyone recommends :) My little white Bluetooth ear buds are Sony LinkBuds. They are the most expensive headphones I've ever bought, but I love them. They have a hole in the middle of the ear piece, so I can always hear what's going on around me when I'm walking or running!
Hello, can someone tell me what is the difference between normal books on Kobo site and "shortcut editions" books?
How good are books? I love books! Thanks for the update. 😊
Books are great! Love them.
Interestingly, I came to a similar conclusion about my relationship to physical books last week! Following your video on 'retail therapy at the library' I was inspired to renew my local library card. I didn't realise my library had lots of recently published books! I've decided I only want to buy physical copies of books that really impacted me, or say books from queer or radical bookshops like Gays the Word or Housmanns when I visit London. Aside from that I am planning to borrow books instead of buying as much as possible.
I was introduced to your channel throught *the Obsidian video*, but I have really enjoyed your vlog-style videos. I like the questions you ask and the way you approach trying to answer them. I always look forward to your videos! But it also should be sustainable and enjoyable for you most of all, so keep making the videos that are fun for you
Aw, thanks for your comment! It's so wonderful to find other people who think similarly, just on a day-to-day basis. I love the term "radical bookshops"! I've never heard it, but thinking back, radical or highly specific bookshops are my favourites :) The queer bookshop near me is Glad Day bookshop in Toronto and I haven't been since before the pandemic, so I must go back!
Hi, nice vlog) You mentioned that you plan to read all those 5 books in 5 days. I have a question: how do you manage to read a book a day? I mean how rapidly you read and, assuming that you are quite fast at it, doesn't it affect how deep you delve into the notions represented in the books?
Thanks in advance for answer. English is not my mother tongue, I am sorry for possible mistakes.
Haha, I usually DON'T read books that fast! I make ambitious reading goals, but don't actually follow through! But in general, I think it's about making time for reading. If I make reading a priority and dedicate time to it, I can get a lot read and still remember it (take notes, etc), even if I read slowly.
Where is the unboxing 😞???
You're back, with summer colors and outfit changes and booooks! Let's click Thumbs Up, go make some more coffee, then come back and hit Play! 💫
Do let me know via e-mail if you'd like that postcard from Greece! 🙃✈🏝🇬🇷😸
Aaah, yes, I've actually been working on getting a PO box, so I need to finish up that process then post it to RUclips and send it to you directly! 😁
