Only the Mitsubishi had that special sound while accelerating. Almost a bit like a 5 cylinder engine. This car wasn't the fastest but so special. Great! Thanks for the video.

I think that this Lancer WRC04 is a prototype of the WRC05 version, because it has the WRC04 front but the rear quarters are based on the WRC05 version, with a WRC04 rear bumper. Later on because of changes within the regulations Mitsubishi had to close the open fender by installing a bumper as the same width of the rear quarters.
That car with a 6 speed transmission and being more reliable could be a challenger for the 2005 season. For 2004 it was too early on the life of the car, they needed to resolve the reliability issues.

Car la version 2004 était différente et monter en Michelin enfin c'est dommage que la marque japonaise est décidé de stopper son programme qui par la même occasion embarquait la branche sportive ralliart pour manque de résultats et pourtant sur la vidéo on voit bien que la lancer avait du potentiel notamment avec Gigi Galli à noté que la marque reviendra brièvement en WRC en 2007 avec toujours Gigi Galli Xavi Pons et Toni gardemeister mais tous en privé

to me the car was simply too long. The chassis seems stretched especially in the front section, you can see how much it understeer on entry. The whole concept is messed up.
Its actually shorter than the impreza equivalent, while having a longer wheelbase, meaning the front section is actually shorter than the subaru and the focus RS WRC
