    This is what OLD beauacracies do when faced with innovations. Stop clutching your pearls, Univ of Washington. Bring that kid in to upgrade your tired old registration system.

  • @leveen2836
    @leveen2836 15 часов назад +38

    He committed the grievous wrong of streamlining the registration process for his fellow students. In doing so he highlighted the inefficiency of the process and the frustration of the students. The inefficiency exists because it is allowed to exist. It exists to reinforce the power and control that the university has over the students. The university is reminding the students that they are the gatekeeper and that they and they alone will decide if the students get the classes that they want.

    • @leveen2836
      @leveen2836 6 часов назад

      @@l4c390you’re correct regarding need. Before entering college you know the list of classes required for your major. A lot of classes have to be taken in a predetermined order but wherever there is flexibility a smart student wants to avoid having too many demanding classes simultaneously. It’s often not possible though.

    UW admin is a joke. They should be paying this student to buy his code to integrate into their registration website.

  • @DLCoates1

    So… why does the school use automated tools to register us if it’s not allowed? They need to practice what they preach then and go back to file cabinets with physical files for each student.

  • @im.empimp
    @im.empimp 9 часов назад +8

    I can absolutely understand why the school prohibits buying or selling class seats, but I'd really appreciate hearing why UW doesn't allow _swapping_ of class seats, even via automated tools.

    100% on this talented young man's work. UW administrators that made this decision are egomaniacs and utterly stupid for punishing him instead of taking advantage of his work to make the process easier for everyone. This is the difference between people in innovative industries versus people whose main job is pushing papers around.

    Comes off as they don't like or want competition or perhaps something that works better than what they bought because of buyers remorse. I wonder how much of their systems are closed sourced and how much they pay or get paid to use it. Better not take away their "Start button". On the other hand, they just provided him exposure to those who might actually want more than just a drone.

    I understand school system suck and old, but as student I don't think it's our job to change whatever school has. after all, school is not ours and we have no right to change anything since we are just a student. All we need to do is study hard and graduate. so if you want to help make world a better place like you said, graduate first and find field or company that can help/support you.
